Very very disappointed with the pricing in New Zealand, it’s around $6k NZ more expensive than the Auzzy version’s.
I was definitely looking to buy at the end of the year but now I won’t.
It’s a great car but Tesla is now a better buy for me..
Tesla is a well known brand.
    Tesla has solid resale values.
    Supercharging network.
    Regular over air updates.
    BYD… I’m out!

So BYD seal entry in Aus $49,813
    -Remove 10% GST, $45,284
-Convert from AUD to NZD using 1.09 , 49,360
    -Add 15% GST, $56,764
    So thats $6,225 more expensive.
That is likely going to the dealer, or close to it.
How can we cut the dealers out of the picture and go direct to consumer?!

It’s a big gap. The warranty is a lot better in NZ than Australia, and servicing cheaper. That is a very normal gap in price between NZ and Aus so it’s not just a discussion for BYD.

    • @jonathankapoor2389

Performance version is 9k plus more here in NZ compared to Aus. What a joke! Atto3 was value. All things considered, this is just dealerships getting greedy

Why are the Seal models priced so much higher in NZ than Australia when compared to local pricing of the Model 3 Highland? Opportunity missed for BYD? It'll be interesting to compare Seal v Model 3 sales in both countries.

Buying power in Aus and dealer network in NZ are the main reasons. Australian new car sales are 1million+ compared to 100k+ sales in NZ. byd Aus had over 1k in preorders on the first day... At least NZ ain't Singapore 😬

You do realise the $76k Model 3 is also AWD with a 75kwh battery and performance times are not that different 4.4 vs 3.8. No, not great value when compared to Australia pricing between the Model 3 and BYD there.

why not? every other country reckons Premium Seal is cheaper than the Standard Tesla Model 3. Australia, Thailand and China. Will be the same in UK and Malaysia. Only NZ is selling Premium Version Seal $5000 more expensive than Model 3. Excuse me?

Disappointed with the NZ pricing. I think with this price and level of customer support, the model 3 would still be the first choice for many kiwis.

Tesla Model 3 NZ price $69,990 driveaway, NSW Aus price $64800 $5190 difference.
BYD base Seal NZ price $64,300 driveaway price, Aus $51,000 driveaway difference $13,300!
If BYD are trying to use the bigger market share please include Tesla in that market share difference!

You have to convert the NZD price to AUD to compare pricing. There's still a significant difference but not as much as you have shown.

Not to mention, BYD will have lower resale value vs Tesla because of mindshare. No point really going for Seal at this price vs current M3.

I disagree the dark interior is just a heat sink and as the planet heats up will just make it even worse my choice is the lighter colour every time and unfortunately your new government has just gone to the dark ages removing all incentives and the SUV tax so let's watch Auckland and all coastal cities start to have the ocean levels rise and vanish under the waves as the poles melt.
