The valley looked like such a great place to grow up in the 80s. I wish someone had a channel like yours but for my home of NYC and surrounding areas. It's changed so much. Unrecognizable almost.

I grew up on the SF Valley from 1969 until 1985. The place we hung out was Zig's Ton on a Bun on White Oak just off Vanowen. I lived across the street from that place and it was great. They used to give us kids free ice cream cones on Halloween. Check it out and see if it's still there. I loved that place.

I saw Quest for Fire, Empire Strikes Back, and many other movies at the UA6. We had so much fun going to the movies, I grew up across the street from the Fox theater at the Fallbrook Square Mall, so most movies I saw were there, but the UA6 started to get the bigger movies and we would go there to see them!

If you haven’t been, David’s house in WAR GAMES is in Hancock Park. The 7-11 where David gets nabbed by the Feds is in Big Bear.
It’s not Valley related but a ton of 80s movies were shot in Hancock Park since the big fancy houses could stand in for rich teens’ residences.

On White Oak and Chatsworth next to the liquor store across the street from where you were standing that was one of the most busiest comic book stores in the valley. Then if you go a little bit north on Chatsworth to Zelzah in that shopping center there used to be a United artist theater back in that corner of the shopping center. They promoted Batman part two and had the Batmobile in front of TJ Maxx back when the movie was released I believe in 1992.

The brick insurance building on White Oak in Granada Hills was the original post office. It was still there when I moved away in ‘79 and still there when I moved back in ‘85 home from college. GH has changed-but not drastically. Like other comments: I’ll miss the Tasty Queen on Chatsworth; ate there within the last year. I heard the rent went up again and the restaurant owners had had enough.

First of all Kurt, I fully agree with your last comment at the end of the video. People need to quit being so full of evil and hatred towards others. Now. Here in the Atlanta area, our famous hot dog joint is called The Varsity. It is in Atlanta very near Georgia Tech. Their chili dogs with slaw are so good. Another good item they have are the chiliburgers with extra onions. To drink you need an F.O. AKA Frosted Orange. Oh and onion rings instead of fries. I love your vids bro. Especially your location vids such as this one. I have never been to California but I am fascinated with the place. Especially after seeing so many tv shows and movies filmed there. Maybe one day I'll make it out there. If I do, I'd love to meet you in person. I also do vids here on You Tube. Been doing them for a little over a year now. So if I get to come out there, I'll do some footage for my channel. thecoolestdad.

Hey, Kurt. Loved the locations and the last comments in your video.
I know you love the '80s (obviously), and this is not political at all, but have ever you been to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley? I just went with my wife because they had a great Star Wars/SDI display. Lots of original, screen used props from the Star Wars movies, and how the media dubbed Reagan's missile defense initiative "Star Wars" back in 1983. I was wondering if you've ever been there, since it's a great trip back in time to commemorate the man who made the '80s the "Reagan Years".
