Day in the Life of a CCA Corrections Transportation Officer

Detention Officer Joel Oscarson is a transportation department officer at CCA's Nevada Southern Detention Center (NSDC) in Pahrump, Nevada. NSDC is owned and operated by CCA and supports the United States Marshals Service (USMS) as a detention facility for pretrial detainees being processed through the federal courts system in Las Vegas.
Oscarson and his coworkers work in a special part of the facility called the Receiving & Discharge department. This department is responsible for processing information as detainees arrive, safely completing medical and court appointments, and ensuring detainees are transferred or released from the correctional facility. Generally reserved for experienced staff members, this fast paced area requires teamwork and attention to help benefit and protect all we serve.
