We are moving next week on Thanksgiving to a new (smaller) residence 800 miles away…Hubby and I, Mother, two dogs and three cats…so I am trying to pre-stage and then declutter so much as possible….no one area…
Travel gear - I used to travel alinea, as cheap and light as possible and to exotic countries. Now I have a child and a second on her way I know I will not use these items anymore or at least not for years so most need to go (only keeping very high quality or difficult to fine items)
I declutter my camper biweekly roughly. Every area really. I travel for work so I live in a 22ft camper. With the space, multiple things can make it look cluttered and that can steal my peace and sometimes cause me to feel a little anxious. In intentionally decluttering/living more minimalistic, it’s also caused me to reevaluate my diet. I cleared out my small pantry with only necessities and I now purchase all my meats from a local farm. It keeps me from over purchasing and focusing more on essentials. It’s helped my budgeting TREMENDOUSLY. Take a look at your pantry and diet, as she’s mentioned in the video 😊
Ashlynne! I was watching this while having my arts/crafts wind down time after a long week at work & I'm so glad you made this video! Definitely going to go through my photos this weekend. I like how you mentioned decluttering candles. I don't have many candles, but you literally read my mind. We need to actually make use of the items we purchase! Gotta light the candle, haha. I just don't want the scent to ever go away! The company no longer sells it :( I need to treasure it in the moment. Love these declutter ideas.
I might be a bit early with the video idea but I was wondering if you'd consider making videos about what you buy your child for each holiday like Christmas and Easter or Birthdays. I Love the what I bought my kids videos. They give some great ideas and help show the ideas behind the gifts with needs vs wants.
My husband recently asked me to take a pair of shoes to the recycling center, so I'm decluttering my own shoe racks. As of tonight I've identified 7 (!!) pairs that look rough or have become uncomfortable. I still have about 20 pairs since i replaced some in the past few months, but its wild that these worn out things have been taking up so much room. Its also wild that 20 pairs of shoes is the smallest amount I've ever owned 😂
Ashlynne I am a long timer in your channel . I used to love your earlier videos a lot. The house was minimalistic . You have inspired me in million ways to be minimal and spend intentionally. But off lately I find your house and your ideas to be maximalistic , and you buying things is opposite to your earlier videos of intentional buying (sans the baby stuff) . I hope you stick to your main content . I still watch your earlier videos and my favorite is your video where you first gave the tour of your home when you purchased it .
Seasons of life change. While you found value in her older videos, I relate better to her newer stuff. I’m by no means a minimalist but I’m trying to be conscious of what I bring into my home and regularly assessing the value in those items. Thank you for helping people ashlynne, your content is valuable to many ❤
I would love a video if you havent already of time management as a mom of newborn 😂🤣😅 how to balance everything out throughout the day so can get everything done that needs to be done
Throwing out items is tough for me but the hardest part is to decide what to do with them. To gift them, sell them or thrash them or give them to charity. Thats where i usually stumble most. I have heaps of stuff laying around waiting for the next step
I was dozing off listening to you (a nap is mandatory today…) but I was jolted awake when you called me out on my "to fix" pile!! So many things to repair, especially to sew back to life, but the mess of the pile is not a greatsight so I put it away neatly and… forgot about it. November has been uninspiring and exhausting but you have given me the boost to address some of the clutter before the year is out. Thank you for another great video!!
So i am expecting again along with a 6 almost 7 month old...and a big one for me is decluttering those things I learned that we really dont even need as a parent. For example most baby wash cloths seem rough and feel pointless when i have perfectly soft and gentle washcloths I use even on my own skin. Just one example. It is crazy how much we learn on what we need and dont need as parents. I wish i could figure out the trick of not having to use a baby bathtub but my boy moves too much and could hurt himself in the big bathtub... so yet to figure that one out
My plan is to really go through my house and declutter and to declutter my phone... thinking about getting rid of facebook and saving all my photos to develope.. be great for my little man to grow up a little more old fashioned with physical photo albums anyways
Wow! I've never seen anyone who declutters as often as you do! It's about every 4 weeks or so. You've got your routine in minimalism down pat--can't imagine there would be much clutter anywhere in your house at this point.
Clutter is ongoing and never ending. We accumulate stuff and things as days count on throughout our life. To think and say there wouldn't be much clutter anywhere at this point is silly. Shes going to need to declutter again and again as time goes on just like we all should too. Every season (quarterly) is a perfect time to do so 😊
I would guess you, like myself and many others, do this to a degree without even thinking about it. Ever find a manual while looking for another that you trash because you don't have the item any longer? Ever open a drawer to the something and toss something else because it feels like its only purpose is to get in the way every time you open that drawer? Tossed a worn out item of clothing? It's all a form of decluttering on a small scale. The fridge is a great example too. Cleaning out leftovers every week for trash day or checking dates on condiments you can't remember how long they've been open. Granted date checks are less frequent, but it's still a small step in the process. (Coming from someone who found jelly that was best by 2015 last week after the old man had gone through dates multiple times. Really need to convince him to wear his glasses during that.) Some of us, myself included, just need to work similar habits more frequently into our schedules rather than waiting for it to become overwhelming. I have paperwork from my health insurance every week that takes 5 minutes to scan in, and yet I was waiting to organize an entire year so I could do it all at once I order. Very happy I found a way to download about a months worth at a time from the app, but that doesn't fix 2021- mid September 2024. Had I started scanning even monthly, it would have been a far more manageable task than looking at the massive stack where the large binder clips can't handle a full year. (8 double sided pages per week is crazy. I even chuck the foreign languages contact info page.)
It's funny how all these decluttering videos are rather young women with obviously no job, and a huge home. Minimalists and decluttering fanatics are usually boring minds, once you meet them in person. Creative and active minds live in chaos and can control it.
I completely disagree. I feel like some people thrive in chaos while others need quiet. One isn’t greater than another. It’s just what works for the individual. I think it’s interesting that people result to saying someone has a boring mind because they desire less of what life offers physically and more of what it offers mentally. Interesting
@@butterandremy naw, minimalists are not more active mentally, quite the opposite. They cannot handle all the input they are getting from life, so their home is a nonstimulating place. An empty place is easier to control for them. I feel sorry for children who have to grow up in such an environment. It also has nothing to do with desiring things in life; minimalists rely on their surroundings to provide what they need. A pan is broken, they go buy a new one. They want to eat, they dine out. They want to read (rarely), they go to the library. It's just outsourcing, it's by no means a simpler life with less commodities.
@@Bamboule05 that’s exactly what it is. It’s a simpler life with less things. It has nothing to do with intelligence, creativity, or anything else. It’s just a simpler way to be.
What’s one thing (or one area) that you want to declutter in 2025? 🤍
Definitely my phone and my computer!!
What”s wrong with the sound? it’s ever so slightly muffled.

I’m working on declutterring myself too especially with my winter projects coming right up so this video comes just right on time
Oh I love that!!

Haha it’s more like once a quarter, but thank you! I enjoy keeping my space well-curated 💛
