Marra's been watching you other channel Shhhh. I will subscribe later gotta get a bath covered in muck from power washing today then off to bed ,Getting full on at work now , and I have no Help 😢 I will catch up with your vids later ,it looks like you have been breaking stuff,🤣👍💚 Steve
Great video! We have similarities in our thinking. I'm over 19 years into a small garden maintenance job with a team of three in South West England. I have my 1st ride on mower quote to do ( my choice - did not want to get into huge areas at the start) So I'm looking for any tips or advice on how to quote with a rider on. Have done 1000s of small to large propelled mower machine jobs and wondered if I should just quote that way as in quote whatever it would take with the biggest mowers, but just use the ride on instead?
My late accountant said to me charge out 3 times what you pay the staff so £11 per hour (examples) times 3 is £33 per hour - google said 30 to 60 per hour for a gardener and a lot of people charge £400 for 2 guys for a day, I have done many many ride on jobs but never on the machine for more than 4 hour's at a time, most of the time 30 min to 2 hour for most houses with a ride on , back in the day I charged (25 per hour) with clients ride on) 10 years ago - for mixed gardening including ride zero turn worth up to 7k machine £256 per day with staff costs about £9 per hour back then , in this day and age defo £200 + or more for 2 operatives half a day , Hard to say all jobs are different , I would need to see them , Every company has different overheads , regional price difference's , lot's of variables , Some people charge per ache of grass mowed , I am guessing ride on mowing £45 + per hour ?? Possibly someone with a ride on might be able to answer this comment. Thanks for commenting Steve
Thanks Pete, 💚 We are all Keeping well , A bit stressed out and pretty tired, & Time waster quotes after work, One big grass cut getting quotes from 3 people OMG. LOL Need more hours in the day🤣
Very tidy job. My missus was telling me that there are gardeners offering services on FB for £15 p/h...she knows that the naive customers will be blessed with poor service and most likely things that experienced gardeners 'nip in the bud' such as ground elder et al will get overlooked and become cumulative in its proliferation. Liked the fact you mentioned moving the olive trees. Ive always stated that more experienced gardeners add value to customers homes as using cheaper alternatives may well cost more in the not so distant future when sh1t hits the fan with them realising you get what you pay for. All best and to you getting more subscribers as you post honestly and knowledgeably.
It took a while to get this place up together but when doing any garden I aways offer loads of advise and tips to the home owners on how to improve there gardens and keep it looking tip top. They have a really good tree surgeon that came and sorted out the really large oak tree and silver birch , they did a bang up job. I went around and planted loads of shrubs, Yew tree,2 Acers, climbers, rose's etc that where suffering in the hot summer sun with little watering being done. They are now all thriving in the borders and require little to no watering I am really pleased that I have been given the opportunity to look after this beautiful garden. Humble and grateful to the owners.❤ Many thanks again for your comment Steve
Did you watch the video? 😆 it's written on the screen right at the end of the video , If i had a new similar job. I would do the same but make it a priced job , so there is no need to stay for a set period of time. All the best Steve 👍
@StephenCheeseGardenServices Yeah, watched the video...but missed the end when you were saying your cheerios...😆 I've just put my prices up at the start of May...£65 for a 2 hour visit...still good value for money for the customer...👌
@@andrewsflicks7920 try and price work ,I know its hard but, so worth it, I have some 300. quide days booked in. AND don't try and make each new job fit into the £65 box you have created in your head like I have done , as more often than not the client's would have payed more, because all they want is the end result. All jobs are different as you know. I am very grateful to you for you feed back on prices, always great to talk prices, Its were I struggle the most!! Steve
You're so right with the boxed in £65 jobs...I've got my hourly rate that I need set at £32.50...and it's just easy to say " yeah, that'll be 2 hours £65"...when some jobs are more difficult than others, and should be priced as such...for example, I try and charge hedges at £45 an hour for one off cuts...but when I have a regular customer they get the hedge cut at £32.50 an hour! Crazy...I should say to them that regular maintenance does NOT include hedge cutting, or digging out large shrubs for example...it is difficult, but a big learning process. There's 2 or 3 of you guys on RUclips doing your videos, and they're all brilliant to watch...different opinions etc...but every video makes you sit up and think about your own business...how we can get better, more efficient, etc etc...fantastic...😊 cheers Stephen for your good work.
@@andrewsflicks7920 I am really pleased its helping you. It's a hard topic , because of all the variables , The topic matter on what to charge is Massive, I will try and do more on it when I have time. I need to go to bed really. Keep pushing up you price's with each new quote with in reason , you're moving in the right direction. You sound like me, too Honest to people and to kind hearted and then some people take advantage of you, Just keep an eye on how much you giving away each visit. Thanks again for you kind reply.
I am a formal gardener in formal gardens. we compost the leaves 🍃 or in the case of this video, the council recycling green ♻️ waste will compost them and then sell them back to us 😆 lol Thanks for commenting 🙂 Steve
The most current advice fro, the pros is to leave the leaves in the borders. If you don't like to see them dig them into the soil, no more time than what you did.
@@StephenCheeseGardenServices The stuff our council sells back seems to be full of road sweepings, plastic and string! I only ever bought a couple of bags once to try it. Never again!
@@tomthetaletellerphillips I turn as many in as I can. If there is a large overwinter build up as I like to leave it as a mulch where customers allow me to, they either go into the compost bin, or I bag them. I then pierce the bag and set aside for a lovely richly scented leaf mold.
Big cheese Steve
If your garden needs doing just say "Cheese"
