    Good subject Steve. I’ve learnt different techniques when pricing work. It might be obvious - Go and look at garden and go with gut feeling (potential customers are telling me gardeners are quoting over the phone after looking on google earth). Always quote on paper clearly setting out what work is covered by the quote, never quote verbally. Learn to politely walk away with ‘I’m sorry it’s more work than I thought and don’t have the capacity to take it on’. When faced with the ‘Bargain Hunt viewers’ can you do it for ‘this price’ the reply is: let me digest that information and I’ll get back to you, then run! I do the ‘can you just doers’ but an a separate visit and price, that normally stops it.

    The neighbour asks if......... I was asked to go around to the neighbour of a recently quoted job to quote as price for a bit of weeding and a couple of shrubs. That's the price, if you want me call me. She calls and great I pop around to start work. Dog poo everywhere, could I take up the gravel stones and bleach them white again, fix the gate as it's only a few screws, the wind popped a fence panel out, can you put it back in. The list went on. Even bleed the radiator in the toilet. Er, no thanks. Bye. Lost the neighbour too but wasn't that bothered really.

    Great lil video there Steve. Insightful. I hate it when you’re dealing with more than one “boss” I.e customer at once.. That is a red flag for sure.. “me and a neighbour..” it’s alarm bells 😂 I like to know who I’m dealing with and discuss money etc with that individual person, not deals here and there between neighbours and friends etc also I prefer to give them prices by way of a written down estimate versus blurting it out in person, I used to feel awkward but I’ve got my sales pitch down now.. I’ll say “I’ll get something over to you in writing”.

    • @StephenCheeseGardenServices
      @StephenCheeseGardenServices 5 дней назад

      That's where I'm at mate. I always get it in writing in case they don't pay. And then you've got something in writing that says they said XY and Z for this price just to cover myself. If you're doing more than 6 hours of actual cutting in the day with no break, how much time do you have to clear up? He Steve We have 2 of these machines. Only one had an issue with that orange lever on the top, it kept sticking in. Sprayed it with WD and so far so good. Other than that I'm really pleased with these machines. We run them with AP 500 Batteries, easy last all day. Cheers Garry Solihull

    Facebook is probably the best place to get custom now, but there are a lot on there who are after stuff getting done on the cheap.

    Get a lawnflite 448hws with the honda 160 engine, an amazing cut, and a bagging machine. Turn up the revs and put a high lift blade on, and it is the best mower you will ever have.

    Great ladders best thing I purchased last year,. Just one tip, glue the plastic bungs in, which are at the end of the tubes, I have already had most of them drop out.
