Hey Chaps! What laptop are you using right now... and reckon you'll upgrade any time soon? UPDATE: it seems MB X Pro does support TB3, just not 'officially'
I bought the matebook x pro in 2018 when it got out, and I can say it's the best laptop I ever got. It's still the same design on todays model, a proof that they were well in advance on the design front. The only thing that would make me buy a new one today is the battery that is starting to die pretty quickly after 2+ years of use. I'm not a heavy webcam user, so I love that it's hidden in the keyboard. It allows for an incredibly thin bezel for this 3:2 screen. Again... it has crazy good design, usb A + 2 Usb C, and great performance and incredible screen. It even came with a USB dongle for additional port selection. In 2018, i got it for 1750$ CAD for the top spec model (i7, 16gb ram, 512 gb fast ssd), which is around 1200$ USD. The price increased a lot today, but anyway at the time it was incredible value for the money, and I think it still is even with the increase!

These are 3 laptops that I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat if what they wanted was productivity use such as internet browsing and working with ms office packages. I personally use the Matebook x pro 2018 model, and I still have almost no complaints (wish the screen was matte instead of gloss finish because it may cause some problems with viewing when there is indirect light). As for battery life, when connected to the internet I can still get around 7 to 8 hours, however in airplane mode I am actually able to get up to 13 hours sometimes depending on what I use it for. Also, these are great for any programmers looking to upgrade cos they can handle multiple development environments easily. I personally have around 5 virtual machines within mine, and the laptop is able to run 2 or more of them simultaneously without breaking a sweat.
Got the matebook 14 intel i5 11th gen. Amazing screen and excellent build quality. Super premium without burning a hole in your pocket. At least in my country.
My personal and honest opinion - Huawei make some of the best laptops on the marker right now. I've been using my Mateboox X Pro (2018) for more than 2 years now and honestly speaking it is the best laptop I've ever had for both portability and my daily tasks which consist of office work, photo editing and browsing as well as light gaming every now and then. Design and overall quality turned out to be of very high standard. My MTBXP has Thunderbold 3 but I have never used it so can't speak on that. Speakers are great, screen is fantastic. Camera angle isn't an issue as I'm mainly using my laptop on the laptop stand (by the way, I highly recommend to get one, your back and eyes won't lie) which gives it a better view. Absolutely love it. 2 years on and it still keeps heads turning.

I have just bought the 14 with the Ryzen 7 for around 780 euros I think it was and at 60 years old I have had a few laptops in my time for work reasons. The notebook is in my view one of the best I have ever had and am very pleased with it's performance, screen aspect ratio makes it ideal for creating and using documents. good for editing videos, great to type on and a massive battery life. Well worth every Euro.
I just love the 45 watt Ryzen 4600h in the Matebook 14. Though these are thin and lights in form it's a real asset. When the graft of a day's work is done in a spot of gaming is a great way to unwind. To Work, media, social networks, photo editing and light gaming all for just a deuse over 700 quid is a great deal. It has a great metal build, 2k touch screen, fast charging too and the speakers are reasonable too.I can't think of any other laptop in this price range that comes close to the quality of a Matebook 14 2020

So your "criticism" doesn't include the fact that the matebook x pro still comes with the mx250 15W, while the MX450 25W is already out? It also comes with that 10510u, not even with the new 1165G7? What about the fact that it has passive cooling? No heatpipe is directly connected to the fan exhaust part, and as a result, the cpu's power limits are too low because otherwise it would've gotten too hot. That 10510U doesn't even come close to its full potential. While the Matebook 14's cooling is way better and more capable, its power limits are still a bit lower than expected but its performance is great nevertheless, considering its portability. Also, it is worth me mentioning that the Matebook 14's trackpad is actually plastic, not glass. Also, something very important is the fact that the screens are annoyingly reflective. Not that XPS' and macbooks' "anti-reflective" glossy screens are effective (let's be honest, they aren't), but If you happen to be in even a moderately-bright environment, you won't really be able to look at the screen without raising the brightness to at least 400nits or without closing the lid to
But technically.. it doesn't matter. Because the mx250/350/450 are meh. Waste of power and space tbh. Better off getting a proper laptop for editing videos.
9:09 I love how you look at the laptops like a proud dad. They look great tho. Especially that Matebook X. I'm waiting to see what Apple's new MacBooks are gonna be like. I've been using a MacBook Retina 12' for about two years now. Huawei have clearly taken inspiration exactly from this one when it comes to the X. The MacBook is underpowered, but still lighter tho, at under 1kg. That's by far my favourite thing about it.

Hi mate, i have just purchased the matebook 14 AMD 2020. I noticed that when i plugged in the i USB C charger. The charger plug clicks in tight and is connected firm and laptop charges fine. Thanks for your videos! I'm really stuck between choosing either the Matebook 14 Ryzen 5 vs the 13 Ryzen 7 or Intel I7. Last laptop is a Lenovo Z580 so I know anything I get will more than do the job by comparison. Will be general use, some light gaming, photo editing. Any thoughts?
OK so I've been making so much research and got so frustrated. So the matebook 14 price is nice but I don't know which is the best option for it. Like I thought about it and was like 16gb ram and ryzen 5 so it can stay budget friendly but do you have any thoughts or advice on it. Thx
Hi bud. I don't really follow all these tech videos but I subscribed to you just because you seem so cheerful when talking. I could just hear you all day long.
Except for the location of the webcam, which fortunately is not a deal breaker for me, the Matebook 14 is everything I wanted from a new laptop. Ryzen 5 ( I don't even need the highest specs), 16GB RAM, bright 3:2 screen with good sRGB coverage. Really I don't think I am asking for much but this is the only AMD laptop that fulfills it. Most other release just simply have poor screens.
I didn't even consider the 14, I only looked at X and 13 before ... I'm a uni student and would mostly need it for PowerPoint and word for papers, also the occasional sims 4 game lol and I do some coding on the side and also run an online business. I have a tv so won't be watching a lot of shows on there, but maybe youtube sometimes, and obviously lots of zoom video calls with online learning (I don't mind the weird camera placement). I also use my iPad for note taking in uni, so the notebook won't be travelling with me a lot but rather stay at my desk or be used in the library. I'm willing to invest the 1k as I hope to carry this thru my last year of my bachelor and also the upcoming 2 yr master programme and maybe my work experience afterwards- what would you guys suggest I buy? From what Im seeing the difference between X and X pro so I'd go for the X, however the 14 does seem interesting for me, is it worth buying something on a smaller budget, or should I invest a bit more and hope for better performance? Do I even need better performance, now that I basically only use it to type and videochst?
I have a huawei phone and thats the key buying point for me, otherwise I would also consider HP, lenovo and acer. MacBooks aren't interesting for me tbh, I love windows
Which one is better MateBook 14 intel or MateBook 14 AMD Ryzen? I just want to buy that product only but have little bit confusion about in this processors. Help to choose best one for long-lasting better performance.

Syed Ayan Ahmed zen 3... what do you expect? a 50% improvement over the predecessor? On the same socket? You are right... intels „modern“ CPUs are a joke, especially since intel barely changed anything since 5. gen core i CPUs (=year 2015) and if you see the fact that a modern ryzen is as fast in real life applications, in some even slower compared to a trashy modern intel CPU... yes, Intel is a joke, but AMD is a joke too ;) If you really choose a CPU which makes sense for you you dont need any upgrade path at all since a real performance improvement will always need a new socket due the lack of features/instructions/proper ram slots/pins/power requirements and so... except you are the sort of user which buy the lowest end CPU and then get after prices dropped for example a 3700x... but i prefer a proper setup before i end up being in fast update cycles and „paying twice“ (or more) Thats why i got a cheap i7 some years after release, got for half the price with overclock easily the performance of the actual i7, and this system is doing since 2015 a damn good job. Meanwhile many ryzen1000 users paid already twice with a upgrade to r3000, probably soon ryzen 4000 and ended up with even a higher price than my still awesome fast intel from damn 2014! Sure AMD is the better option in most cases... but imagine you know already a 10600K or 9700K/9600K will be as fast outdated as a ryzen for gaming... why bother with ryzen when you know intel still works the best for gaming, not only because they overclock much better and have anyways higher clock speeds, but i bet many games, especially AAA titles will still be optimized for intel - because they can afford it.
Syed Ayan Ahmed i will wait for ryzen5000(+?), Intel 12. gen(+?), probably even proper DDR5 systems, then i will replace my old Intel instead of paying 500$+ for Ryzen/MoBo/Ram for getting about 10% more fps in CPU limited games compared to my i7 from 2014(!!!!) every CPU upgrade i ever made brought me at least(!!!) 50% more raw performance, often even 100%+ (like from Athlon 64 to X2, from A64 X2 then to an awesome Core2Duo E8400 to a AMD Phenom II X6, then the i7 4790k which is still in 2020 a beast. all of this CPUs costed sub 150$ and were with OC awesome, except for the 4790k then which was even used expensive but the performance was ahead of its time too and is still despite the fact its a optimized CPU from end 2013 I also like how AMD is trying to compete again... they did for many years before ryzen was released a damn bad job, beginning with the FX6000/8000 CPUs, giving intel room for melking the users with rebranded, old generations in a new package for even a higher price. I hope AMD is going to make fair prices again- there should be a reliable midclass/gaming option for less than 150$ for a CPU, that was what i am used to AMD... still
@@harrison00xXx This is complete BS. Latest ryzen outperform intel in games as well as other applications. Ealier ryzen's only had problems in games because they were not optimized for many cores. Modern ryzens however are faster in both single threaded performance and multithreaded performance than intel thanks to higher clockspeeds and better core design. A 6 core ryzen chip can now beat a 10 core intel chip in some cases due to the difference in single threaded performance.

At least in my country.
great vid mate, been all over for a proper look at the matebook 14. getting this as a birthday present for my daughter. keep it up!
I have the matebook 14 and it's absolutely a bargain!
Even with the Ryzen5 4600h😍

Considering Huawei's current situation, what do you think would be the future of these laptops?
Well they aren't smartphones, they are made of the same parts as everything else. Just do a clean install of windows and you are good to go.
Their laptops don't seem to be affected by the ban
It's just the smartphones and 5G that is affected, but the US is easing the ban now on smartphones and way more. If Biden wins, hopefully Biden will end it all 💪

The notebook is in my view one of the best I have ever had and am very pleased with it's performance, screen aspect ratio makes it ideal for creating and using documents. good for editing videos, great to type on and a massive battery life. Well worth every Euro.

Thanks for the great comparison. Exactly what I was looking for.

@@harrison00xXx lol 🤣 what about desktops and the upcoming zen 3 . Intel in 2020 is a joke and even Intel admits that , just ask Intel personally 🤷
Syed Ayan Ahmed zen 3... what do you expect? a 50% improvement over the predecessor? On the same socket?
You are right... intels „modern“ CPUs are a joke, especially since intel barely changed anything since 5. gen core i CPUs (=year 2015)
and if you see the fact that a modern ryzen is as fast in real life applications, in some even slower compared to a trashy modern intel CPU... yes, Intel is a joke, but AMD is a joke too ;)
If you really choose a CPU which makes sense for you you dont need any upgrade path at all since a real performance improvement will always need a new socket due the lack of features/instructions/proper ram slots/pins/power requirements and so... except you are the sort of user which buy the lowest end CPU and then get after prices dropped for example a 3700x... but i prefer a proper setup before i end up being in fast update cycles and „paying twice“ (or more)
Thats why i got a cheap i7 some years after release, got for half the price with overclock easily the performance of the actual i7, and this system is doing since 2015 a damn good job.
Syed Ayan Ahmed i will wait for ryzen5000(+?), Intel 12. gen(+?), probably even proper DDR5 systems, then i will replace my old Intel instead of paying 500$+ for Ryzen/MoBo/Ram for getting about 10% more fps in CPU limited games compared to my i7 from 2014(!!!!)
every CPU upgrade i ever made brought me at least(!!!) 50% more raw performance, often even 100%+ (like from Athlon 64 to X2, from A64 X2 then to an awesome Core2Duo E8400 to a AMD Phenom II X6, then the i7 4790k which is still in 2020 a beast.
all of this CPUs costed sub 150$ and were with OC awesome, except for the 4790k then which was even used expensive but the performance was ahead of its time too and is still despite the fact its a optimized CPU from end 2013
I also like how AMD is trying to compete again... they did for many years before ryzen was released a damn bad job, beginning with the FX6000/8000 CPUs, giving intel room for melking the users with rebranded, old generations in a new package for even a higher price.
X Pro (and maybe others too) does have thunderbolt support, although it's not official.
I got the matebook x pro 2021 and I am so happy with it 😍
