I literally started knitting 5 days ago after crocheting for 10 years. I cried when I finished my first sock and I'm not ashamed to admit it. 😂 Something I thought was impossible for years and thanks to you I've done it! EVERYONES GETTING SOCKS FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR.
congratulations ^^ I am also a crocheter for years now and I started knitting last year (because I was in a sick leave, and just was staying all the time in my bed 😅) I have made a hat (last year) with a circular needle and finished today my pair of gloves with dpns. The gloves were challenging at first but I did well for my first try. I toltally understand you big happiness and your tears. Next project is gonna be: socks. Wish me luck ^^ and good luck as well with your next projects ^^
I’ve been crocheting for about 3-4 months and my brother brought up my knitting needles that I don’t use anymore, so I decided to get back into it (I just started today) :) I’m so proud of myself for doing this.
I took up knitting two weeks ago... Just learnt the basic knit and purl... Now I'm going to try a sock with this tutorial. I did lose the instruction at the heel... I was confused and its done fast... Thanks to pause and watch again... I'll give it a go... If you see a video of a 56 Yr old male huddled in a corner crying insanely, rocking back and forth, vowing never to do it again... That's me and its going well... 😃
I am having such a great laugh with your comment! Making socks and gloves are my next projects after making an ireland flag scarf for a friend and a 4'2" wide by 4'8"(have to measure again) long shawl. This is going to be a fun project. I'm just missing the threading needle. Good luck with the socks!! Do you by chance have extra space in the corner for me to curl up in fetal position as I cry getting myself lost part way through making mine??

One sock down and now on the second! Getting over SSS (second sock syndrome). Thanks for getting me through the hurdle of knitting a sock for the first time. I now have utter respect for this humble garment!! 🧦 Update: now finished my second sock 🧦🧦! Huge thanks - I’ve learned so much following this video! Now for another pair to hone my skills 👍🏻😀
Yes, what is that magic? Sometimes I can do it and sometimes I can’t. IDK how that is and it happens with Kitchenor stitch too. It’s hit or miss and I’m frogging over and over and that section of yarn gets a bit over worked. I’ve knitted 6 pairs of socks so I can do it but it takes a while.
Kristin, I can’t thank you enough for posting this. I used your tutorial to knit my very first pair of socks earlier this year. I had wanted to knit socks for years, but was too scared. I didn’t ever think I was good enough to do it, but I did! I’ve since a pair for two of my kids and for my husband. I’ve knit more pairs for me, but the first pair is my favorite because I am so proud of them. They’re not perfect, but they’re warm and comfortable. Again, thanks for the tutorial!! If you’re feeling like I was, go for it! You can do it and you’ll be so proud!
I started knitting at the grand old age of 60, January 2021. After the completion of several hats and a couple of basic jumpers, my daughter challenged me to knit her some socks. Cue terror!!!! 😬Then I found your tutorial and written instructions and away I went. I love the way you explain everything so well making, what seemed impossible, possible. I have now finished the socks and have wrapped them up as a stocking filler (lol) Thank you so much for making it a painless process. I will certainly be visiting you again. 😀
OMG, I only knitted one pair of socks 🧦 ever, And no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t get it, you my lady are an excellent teacher, I been watching your video for over a week, and honestly I feel confident I can try again knitting a pair by following your video, wow, you make it look so easy, I am blown away, I will keep you posted when I finish my 2 nd pair ever of 🧦 socks, thank you, thank you, thank you, you have no idea how many videos I have watched, your is by far the best.
I have this video saved to my bookmarks bar in my browser because I re-watch it every time I start a new sock. Best sock video on RUclips in my opinion.
OH MY!!!! I did it! I not only knitted a sock, my friend...but I finished the pair! I invested in a second needle to work magic loop when I got halfway through the process. I had finished up to the plain stockinette portion of the foot & decided I want to make sure there's no second sock anxiety for me this time. So I started on my 2nd sock & played catch up until I only had to work the easy part of stockinette on each sock until I reached the tip of my baby toe on each sock. Leaving only the toe decreases & the dreaded (for me anyway) kitchener stitch. But I tell you, my fears & anxieties are now a thing of the past. Your tutorial + pattern made it an amazing lesson in a simple vanilla sock. What a wonderful experience! I can now say with confidence I'm a sock knitter! In fact, I'm addicted. Thank you, dear Kristin.🥰 p.s. I love your channel.
You probably already do, what with 1.2 M views, but you should really do this for a living. Crisp, clear instructions. Relatable, friendly and "human".
I have knit my whole life and come from an Irish family of knitters not one of whom would ever tackle the heel turn!! lol Im the first! So excited about my first pair of socks. I didn't them on 3 and then 4 needles and followed your video each step! Thanks you
Just finished my first sock ever because of this video, and honestly it was super easy?? This video has me thinking I'm a sock genius with how easily it knit up! Thanks for making such a clear and concise tutorial!
I am a completely youtube taught crocheter and branched out into knitting a couple years ago (also youtube taught). My husband has been asking for socks ever since, I have been so scared of socks that I have put him off until I found your video. Omg they aren't as scary as I thought they were, you would have thought I cured cancer with how excited I was when I finished my first sock. Thank you so very much for this easy to follow video you've made me a sock hero!!!
Thank you Kristin! I’ve been knitting off and on for 30+ years and NEVER attempted knitting socks because I thought it was too hard. I just completed my FIRST SOCK with this EXCELLENT Tutorial! I can’t believe I did it! I am so proud of myself and GRATEFUL to you for putting this video together for people like me. I’m a visual learner.
I’ve been crocheting for 11 years. I learned the basics of knitting yesterday. I want to make socks for my mom as a surprise. She has been wanting me to learn to knit for years.
Just a BIG thank you! Was intimidates by socks as a progressing knitter and this video helped me do my first one, already started the second. I REALLY love knitting these. Thanks for the AWESOME video!!
Thank you so much for this video and the accompanying pattern! 6 weeks ago I knitted my first 'test' sock from some old yarn in my stash after a 5+ year knitting hiatus, and today I finished my second full pair! This is an excellent way for beginners like me who were always afraid of patterns or for getting 'back on the horse'. "Adventurous Beginner" was the perfect level description. New socks for everyone!
Thank you so much, knit my vety first pair of socks. I am gifting them to my grandmother for christmas. She always knits socks for everyone in the famil. So I thought I ought to make her a pair for once. Your tutorial was most helpful !
Wow, thank you so much. I have been knitting for over 40 years but I always felt intimidated by socks. I have just turned my first heel after following your tutorial. I'm so grateful to you. Have a super day. Lots of love from the 🇬🇧 🥰
I'm the opposite! Of all the methods, I dislike the 9 inch circulars the most due to horrible, crampy fingers when I use this method. I've been knitting socks for years, too - I'll pass on these, though. Just goes to prove that we are all different in our preferences.😉💜
I knitted a sock, and it was successful 🌻🦋 didn't think 🤔 I could do it,but I did ❤️ I did the German row, and afterthought ❤️❤️ but, I like this tutorial 🌻you explain it beautiful 🥰 thank you 🌻 blessings 🤗 I can do this 🤣😂😆
Oh my god, I wanted to knit socks this year and I finished them on the 31st of December, today, I am so deeply thankful for teaching me this art that I always assumed was lost A dream come true, I'm so proud of my first handknitted pair of socks
I got a book with 52 sock patterns, and it's very intimidating to go from flat knitting scarves without pattern, to knitting in the round and reading patterns, this video is very clear and is a god send!
i just knitted my first sock ever with your tutorial, thank you for explaining stuff so great!! (also first knitted sock feels like a huge success for me, omg)
I've never knitted and I want to make my own wool socks. I plan on taking a knitting class after the holidays and start making my own clothes. I'm tired of the (expletive) they sell you these days and I want things that are going to last. I'll be coming back to your channel for more knowledge. Thank you so much!
I'm a crocheter who has only ever been able to do a basic knit scarf, no pearl, nothing. This video has now reminded me how to pearl, which I'm thankful for, and I want to jump onto doing socks as I have the most beautiful cotton yarn that I accidentally got. Ngl, I'm still intimidated and a bit confused with some of the steps in this tutorial, but I definitely can't wait to give it a try
I never comment on TY videos but I absolutely LOVED this tutorial! I've had it saved for a while and was super intimidated to learn how to knit socks because I have zero experience but this helped me so much! Really makes me feel like anyone can do this if they really want to. Thank you so much for helping me reach this goal!
One of my goals for 2022 was to learn to knit socks. Thanks to your tutorial I just finished the first one. I would send a pic but the comments won’t allow.
Well done tutorial! I have been knitting socks for a while, and yes once you have done it you get to understand how patterns work. I love following along with your step-by-step instructions. I think it will be very helpful for sock beginners! Thank you.
I know everyone claims knitting socks is easy..not for me..I've had so many failed attempts.. however I've just found this fab video .and I'm thinking of unpicking what must be the 6 th attempt and restarting .I can do magic loop not long since learnt..and last night after a practice I learnt dpnz .so I think il restart.and follow this.thankyou
I’ve been knitting for years and have found socks to be so confusing. I’ve bought heaps of books on how to knit socks and your video has just made things a lot easier to understand. Thank you.
I started knitting socks in Magic Loop. Then I challenged myself that I also wanted to be capable knitting socks with 5 dpn's. Guess what, that is by far my favorite way of knitting socks. Love this episode, certainly helpful for knitters who want to knit socks.
I am SO happy that I have found your channel! My husband doesn't like toe up socks. I've been searching for a nice vanilla cuff down sock for both he and I. Thank you, thank you! ✌❤🇨🇦
Thank you so much for the free pattern and video. I appreciate the numbered sections listed for the video. I have tried about a dozen different patterns and watched numerous videos trying to knit socks. I think your video seems to be the easiest to follow.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I have several failed attempts at knitting socks until I found this video, I have just finished my first sock, your video is clear and easy to follow, you're an amazing teacher!
“If you are watching this, I’m assuming you that you have completed knitting the foot of your sock”… nope, I came here to see if it was even feasible (for me), and I will not be knitting any time soon 😅, but I love the videos. Very soothing!
After a few days of here and there, I knitted my first sock, many thanks to you! Like others commented here, there is, for some reasons, a great fear of sock knitting. For 40 years, I knitted a sweater (my first project with a coach), many scarves, hats and dish clothes... but I would not go to the knitting of socks! This new year, one of my goals is to face my fears of any endeavors worth taking - knitting socks is one of them! I thought I would take advantage of my Christmas break and get a head start on concurring this sock knitting fear. Between you and the Crazy Socks Lady, I knitted my first sock! Yay! I have to pause the second sock of the pair due to the sold out of the yarn type and color I used for the first sock. But I am thinking of getting another supply of wool yarn for the next pair. This time I will be sure I get enough yarn for the project. Do you have a favorite 100% American wool brand you would recommend? Again, many thanks for the tutorial!
Many years ago, as a young child, we used > get socks, hankies & toffees for Xmas. i also wore white cotton knitted socks. This in the Union of South Africa, now Republic of S.A.
This is really the very best tutorial on sock knitting I have seen! The camera angles are perfect and your instructions were very clear and to the point. I also appreciated the relaxing music in the background and the time stamps 😊 Thank you so much for doing this video 🎉👏🏻
I can see this tutorial has 3 years and I just came across it. I just watched it, as it is, it was so pleasant to watch and next time I will just follow along. You gave very clear instructions, this shouldn't be difficult at all. I was crocheting first and recently I started to knit. Have a fab day, Love!
I just made my third socks without looking through your video..!!! I think now I can knit socks without paying too much attention. Thank you so much! :)
I just finished my first sock EVER!!!! I’m 20 and have knit since about 8 years old or so and finally made the jump to knit a sock. It’s very hole-y and I had to undo this stupid thing a billion times before I figured out how knitting magic loop works and I also have so many ladders that a small colony of ants could easily climb up the mess but, none the less she is beautiful… and most importantly finished. P.S. thanks for teaching me how to knit my first sock.
Oh, my gosh, I watched the video, just to brush up on it, and I loved the way You did the Kitchener stitch, very much easier , then the way I learned it.. thanks,a million.. I saved your video.
Seriously, I keep coming back to this tutorial everytime I need to turn a heel. It is so helpful, the pacing is great. Thank you so much (on my forth pair now).
I just wanted to say thank you. Knitting the heel of the sock felt so daunting and complicated (nearly impossible) from reading the knitting pattern that I first tried. But your tutorial is so well explained step by step that I did it with ease. Thank you so much. I now know I can confidently knit new and fun sock patterns. (And go back and finish the one I first started haha)
One of the most coherent knit instruction videos I’ve ever seen! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 I’ve been crocheting for years but only in the past couple of months have really learned to knit and I just finished a scarf, hat and mittens set for my daughter. She really wants me to knit her some socks but she wants chunky. However, I watched this entire video and I loved it!!! Thank you!
it took me many months of frogging and restarting but i just finished my first sock! your tutorial was amazing and i'm ready to knit all my heart's desires now!!!!!
I’m so grateful for yr tutorial. I followed a paper pattern and I was so confused by the heel turn. Knit to the space!? Couldn’t visualise that but watching you do it made it make perfect sense. Plus the Kitchener stitch finish. Oh wow. I’ve now knitted a gorgeous pair of fluffy mohair socks and worth every bit of confusion. Thank you ❤
I just knit my first sock, thank you so much! I've been knitting "straight things" for years, tea towel, scarves, etc. and was very intimidated to try anything with shape. This tutorial was very easy, and I'm looking forward to making many socks as Christmas gifts! Thanks again :) only comment is at the end, when you say weave your ends in and block, I'm not sure what that means? A quick description of that would be super helpful, but I'm sure I'll be able to find a video/some instructions online.
I’d never knitted anything except the basic square we did in home economics class a long , long time ago. I was searching for crochet patterns when I stumbled across this gem of a video. I can’t believe I’m knitting socks now. Thank you! Brilliant video, so easy to follow.
three days later and it's done... honestly understood everything you were saying first try, you're AMAZING at explaining stuff. it did turn out a bit wonky, but it's wearable and the size is perfect. will be back for the other sock, haha...
I have never seen a tutorial as simple as this one. It just gave me the confidence to knit a pair of sock. I have tried to knit socks,,but when l came to the heel, l made a mess, and left the work. Brilliant tutorial!
I've watched quite a few knitting tutorials and gotten more and more confused. But this was so straight-forward, thorough, great camera angle, excellent! I'm knitting socks now! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video!! I've tried to knit socks before and gave up because i found it too hard, but you make it so easy!! I just finished my first sock, going to start on the second and I'm alredy feeling that everyone i know is getting socks as gifts from now on
I have just finished my first EVER sock in a DAY!!! And i swear it looks like it's the 100th sock i knitted 😍 The video and the pattern, ugh PER-FECT 🌸 I definitely will knit more with your instructions. I used a bit thicker yarn with 3.5mm needles and casted on 48 stitches for 8 number foot and made the leg of the socks smaller. I really liked how it turned out. Time to start the next foot 😂 THANKS A LOT💜
oh my gosh i just finished my first knitting project that wasn't a scarf and i couldn't have done it without you thank you so much!!! your explanations were so easy to follow. again thank you!!
I am now on my second pair. This video gave me the confidence to attempt this feat. This is something that I have wanted to do for years. Thank you thank you thank you!❤
Kristin, you are a fantastic knitter and an instructor. Thank you for all your help, I am very proud of myself for having completing a pair of socks without having to unravel, thanks to you!
I started knitting and crocheting 2 years ago. First time going for socks. Im a little bit lost with step 5 i hope i will get in practice. Nice informative video UPDATE: finished my first sock 🎉
Thank you so much for your very straight forward tuition in sock knitting. I started a few years ago and have read and tried very many ways, via good tutorials and written patterns, but for some reason found that your instruction just clicked easily with me. So thank you 💕
Ive been knitting for 10+ years and just now starting doing other things besides hats and scarves. Your sock patter has helped a lot. My heal turn didn’t quite end like yours but thats ok, my grandma still loved them. ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial. I finally figured out how to make the heel turn without any mistakes. Before, I would try to work the heel turn, but it ended up being crooked, but since I used 2 stitch markers for each side, I made it without any mistakes, thanks to this video.
Yeah , best explanation of the Kitchener stitch I ever saw . That stitch has kept me from knitting socks for the last ten years. I'm going tp pick up my needles and give it a try. Thank you of the demo! 😅😅😅

I’ve been crocheting for about 3-4 months and my brother brought up my knitting needles that I don’t use anymore, so I decided to get back into it (I just started today) :) I’m so proud of myself for doing this.
Slow down! Not everyone knows how to cast on. Horrible video

I think for the small size it’s 58 instead of 56 Stiches because later in the video it says to go back to the original 58 stitches
It’s so wholesome to read the comments about everybody so happy to knit a sock
😂

Never knitted socks , this is a clear tutuorial . So I'm gone have a try.
YAY!!! I'm so happy you found it helpful, Jessica 🤗 Go forth and knit ALL the socks! 🙌💖🧦
I can crochet now I’m moving to the knitting
i know neither but i’ll figure this out eventually
One of my goals for 2022 was to learn to knit socks. Thanks to your tutorial I just finished the first one. I would send a pic but the comments won’t allow.
Well done tutorial! I have been knitting socks for a while, and yes once you have done it you get to understand how patterns work. I love following along with your step-by-step instructions. I think it will be very helpful for sock beginners! Thank you.
Hands down the best & easiest method!! Thank you Kristan (I’m a lefty novice & you made me understand) 🇨🇦 BC
Knitting for simple mortals 😁. I already love this lady.
I have been making a sock for the last month through some very rocky times!! It has been my escape and I’m so grateful for this video!
The best socks knitting tutorial on RUclips. I love the relaxing music in the background as well. Thanks so much.
“If you are watching this, I’m assuming you that you have completed knitting the foot of your sock”… nope, I came here to see if it was even feasible (for me), and I will not be knitting any time soon 😅, but I love the videos. Very soothing!
Ive watched so many sock tutorials with disappointment... Finally i found "the one".. So well explained.. Thank you!!!
Just finished making these socks 🧦!!! Spent the past 24 hours making them and I can't be any more happy with them🤗
I just made my third socks without looking through your video..!!! I think now I can knit socks without paying too much attention. Thank you so much! :)
You are SUCH an excellent teacher. I have no fears and am most excited to start knitting socks!
I saved your video.
this is without a doubt the most wholesome comment section I've ever been in🥰 (I'm so excited to knit my own pair of socks as well!!)
(And go back and finish the one I first started haha)
i did it my first pair of socks ! great tutorial !!!! watched it about 50 times! more please
This is without doubt THE BEST sock tutorial I have watched! Thankyou ☺
Thank you!
What a great tutorial! I have been intimidated by sock knitting, but after watching you I think I will try it. Thank you 🤗
it took me many months of frogging and restarting but i just finished my first sock! your tutorial was amazing and i'm ready to knit all my heart's desires now!!!!!
Thank you.
Im a new knitter but have been crocheting for years, i'm very excited to try this for my first sock knit!! GREAT tutorial, thank you
This is the most amazing tutorial I have ever found! I made my first sock with no trouble. You made it seam easy and I had a great time. Thank you!
I'm a beginner about kniting, and i really excited to watch your video. I can't wait to make my first socks as i dream it for so long.

I am now on my second pair. This video gave me the confidence to attempt this feat. This is something that I have wanted to do for years. Thank you thank you thank you!❤
I can't believe it I've been looking at I don't know how many video for sock and it the first one that don't scare me! 🤗 Thanks
Kristin, you are a fantastic knitter and an instructor. Thank you for all your help, I am very proud of myself for having completing a pair of socks without having to unravel, thanks to you!
This is the first video thar actually helped me understand the concept of doing a sock . Thank you
I started knitting and crocheting 2 years ago. First time going for socks. Im a little bit lost with step 5 i hope i will get in practice. Nice informative video
UPDATE: finished my first sock 🎉
Thank you so much for your very straight forward tuition in sock knitting. I started a few years ago and have read and tried very many ways, via good tutorials and written patterns, but for some reason found that your instruction just clicked easily with me. So thank you 💕
Yay!! That makes me so happy to hear, Carol Ann. Thank you for letting me know and Happy Sock knitting! 😄
I have watched many knitting tutorials and yours is one of my favorites. You explain each step in easy to follow terms, thank you.
Ive been knitting for 10+ years and just now starting doing other things besides hats and scarves. Your sock patter has helped a lot. My heal turn didn’t quite end like yours but thats ok, my grandma still loved them. ❤️
Ok so no matter how many times i restart my heal turn and do it exactly as you it always ends on the wrong side. I don’t know what im doing wrong.
Thank you Kristen! You are a great teacher. Your instructions were very clear and understandable!
I'm So Glad I Found YOU, I finally can knit a sock!!!
Hi Ms Kristin I stared knitting a 1st sock I know it practice at first we will all get use to it.
I DID IT! I made my first sock!! 🎉🎉🎉….now I need to make the other one…
