- In this episode I talk to Shai Wyborski from Kaspa. This was a really interesting discussion because he breaks down a whole bunch of technical stuff and questions that I have for him about how Kaspa works. We talk about everything from solving the trilemma in crypto to thoughts on all this hash rate that's come online with Kaspa Mining, and even having Kaspa be so ASIC friendly in the first place.
There's also a really interesting part of this discussion where we talk more broadly about what does adoption look like for Kaspa? What would be the metrics for success? What are the short term wins and what are the long term wins?

Without knowing him personally, every interview he exudes authenticity, knowledge and calm and is exactly what the crypto industry needs.
Good to see they communicate and give more exposure on Kaspa. That's what it was missing in my opinion. Ada became big because of Hoskinson communication.

Mining is not easy. In addition to expensive materials, expensive electricity, and expensive infrastructure costs, we need to raise a lot of money on the premise that coins will inevitably rise in the future. Who would invest that much money on kaspa mining in the beginning?

what are the centralization risks with archival nodes? The data storage requirements must massive, no?
because few people maintain it mainly miners
unlike in kaspa someone even synced a node on mobile phone
You don't need to run an archival node, when you run node it only sync the last 3 days which is not much data i was able to get a node up and running in less then 2 h. VS BTC you must download all the hostory since inception. However, you can run archival node on Kaspa if you have the storage to do so.. there many people doing it but is not required just for the purpose to mine or just support the network to sign transactions

it will not fall. You should learn more about tokenomics and coin allocations. Kaspa launch is fair launched, no pre-mined, no early investor, no initial coin allocation, it has solid fundamentals and solid tokenomics

Love it! I don't love that Kasware has been basically broken for the past day though haha. The joys of experimenting! I hope all the krc20 stuff gets sorted soon so I can mint some tokens in my wallet.
Wish I had a different wallet than Zelcore in the podcast to truly show the speed. That's just the only one I had available. Still pretty fast even with Zelcore!

Karlsen much better for low budget miners and decentralisation. Dont understand the argument since it takes time to design an assic for it and till then teh majority of coins are much better distributed.

350 Peta hash and Kaspa still can't run a meme coin smart contract, meanwhile Alephium is running several highly functional defi apps on chain with 1.5 peta hash. Kaspa smart contracts don't even run on kaspa network. Serious xrp hype vibes
Yeah maybe. Or maybe they fix the issues and all is great. I doubt Alephium has everything 100% figured out. Almost all of crypto is an experiment. I try to avoid "this is better than that" types of discourse because I rarely find it beneficial. It usually only serves to entrench people in their existing positions. I hope Alephium does well!

Really rough start. But I think it would be silly to call it a failure this early. It's experimental and things like that take time to sort the issues out.
Yeah, its separate from the BlockDag itself, this was a Chrome extension that got severely overloaded like hunfreds of projects had happen when launching projects on blockchains. Kaspa itself was handling everything with ease it was the Kasware wallets etc that couldn't handle the influx. Ive seen 20 nft projects just in the past couple years that shut down within seconds because they had ni idea how big the demand would be. Just think when the minting started the Kaspa volume went up to 200,000,000, this was the first project Open Beta, this is going to be insane by 2025.

It's more secure than Bitcoin, faster than Bitcoin, and more scalable than Bitcoin. AND it's proof of work. This is not a mediocre everyday coin. This coin took 10 years to develop and can do everything Bitcoin can't.
The failure of the KRC20 launch has severely damaged the Kaspa ecosystem. This incident not only exposed the weaknesses of the network but also revealed the unreliability of the associated platforms and services. Restoring trust will require significant effort and time, and it remains questionable whether the system can overcome the long-term impact of this misstep.
I think it would be silly to call it a failure after only a couple of days. Almost every major crypto has had a "failure" of some kind. All of crypto is a big experiment. If this broke your trust, I think you might reevaluate what you think that trust should be. Every crypto has growing pains. Doesn't mean trust is broken... unless they never try to make it better. I say all this generally. Not about Kaspa specifically.
