Right?! Phenomenal. My teacher is a CODA and an amazing interpreter. They're almost....intuitive? I hate to use the word psychic, but...perceptive. Awesome.
@@happyfacefries that makes sense. Drew has a speech impediment and I think she tried to compensate for it. She didn't talk slow the whole time but I think she tried to be considerate.
I have heard a lot of Deaf people say they find that frustrating because they much prefer to see the sign language and not have people expecting them to try to read lips (which is difficult and much less clear even if you're very skilled at it). Using ASL with a person whose language that is, is usually much more inclusive.
I really hope Troy is able to find more roles. I barely needed to look at his hands or read the subtitles because I could perfectly see what he was trying to convey in his expressions. Easily the most deserved Oscar since Brody won for the Pianist.
This is the most I ever heard Marlee talk! Always been a fan, I’ll have to check this new project of theirs Also, you can truly tell that drew is thankful for her connection to Marlee, she almost teared up.
I grew up with deaf parents. They both passed over 30 years ago. My sign language has been rusty. But I watched Troy and his wife Deanne Bray in Sue Thomas FB-eye. A great show. And I was able to refresh my sign language watching them in the show. He's a lucky man to have such a talented and beautiful wife.
@Icy Rock sure you do. Pen and paper or text messaging or just writing in your notes app. But I agree, ASL should be taught in elementary school, it’s so helpful even in the acquisition of your first language!
@@kristenbistrican2750 I heard even toddlers give out sign of hunger, sleepy, sick etc. The idea of teaching ACL in elementary school is wonderful, it will help little kids grow with more kindness, intelligence or more humane.

Troy like your name, you tried and did a legendary work .Thnx for This beautiful, lovely movie to be watched by forthcoming generations . God bless you and your dedicated, creative team.
The scene with TRoy and his daughter in the film on the truck where he feels the vibrations while she sings. prob the hardest i've ever cried in a film
Sign Language is incredibly beautiful, watching you deaf people use it is beautiful and I think your fascinating culture should and will play a bigger role in all of our lives. It's clear that this kind of authenticity is impossible to be acted by hearing actors! Lots of love to the deaf community from Germany❤❤❤
Troy's acceptance speech should have been the highlight of the Oscars this year. It's sad that it was overlooked because of two people's narcissistic egos.
I love seeing deaf actors representing these rolls and bringing awareness to their community, I hope it inspires more hearing people to learn ASL and value this language, anyone who is hearing today could lose that sense tomorrow. As we grow older most of us become hard of hearing, nothing has been more destressing to me working with elders than seeing the isolation they experience as a result of hearing loss. If we all could sign then we could naturally start incorporating signing with our elders as they become hard of hearing and be more inclusive with the deaf community at the same time 💕
CODA is honestly one of my top ten films ever!! I watched it very recently & it was so touching & all of the main characters totally deserve Oscars. Its the most beautiful film ❤❤
CODA is an adaption of the french movie “La Famille Bélier.” Love to see more of Troy and Marlee. Drew is so sweet and real, down to earth in comparision from others in the filmindustry.
I wish there’s more time until the end. It was not finish the interviews. Anyway, I’m glad they met Drew on her show and I’m surprised that Drew met Marlee long time ago. Troy looked great guy!
I’ve been a sign language interpreter for 28 years and at ASL conventions I was always mistaken for Marlee Marlin by the Deaf. One Deaf guy kept insisting I was her, telling me that he saw me in a movie even though I told him 3 times it wasn’t me.
@@penelopeplimsoul3617 yes. that is the case for every sign language and its normal in the hard of hearing/deaf world because some people sign at their own pace interpreters have to speak at the same rate as any hearing person is having a conversation. so the delay doesnt bother us at all. its just how we talk. i can speak like a hearing person because i was told that i needed to speak in order to have a normal life as a hard of hearing person and all my life i learnt english and now im learning how to sign in auslan which is Australian sign language but my goal is to learn BSL and ASL so i can connect with everyone in the deaf community.
I love troy I used to watch his wife on a show called Sue Thomas FB eye and he played a guy on the show and I freaked out when I heard they were marrried in real life. He's a great actora and so is his wife
Marlee did some songs with the wiggles and Emma the second yellow wiggle actually did a sign and dance version of Justin Timberlake song it's here on RUclips. there's a whole ASL section of the wiggles videos now it's awesome for our kids
Marlee matlin is one Great actress. Love her, shes Great in a lot rof roles but the one that sticks to me most is When sje did Hear No Evil with Martin Sheen.
Here’s what I don’t understand why is the other interpreter there when Jack could clearly interpret for the both of them. Seriously what the hell is up with that. When the hostess asked Troy a question Jack signed the question to Troy but then the other interpreter answered for Troy. I don’t understand that, someone help me try and figure it out
Good morning! My opiniom is not in agreement because i thinking Marlee Matlin is all wrony and Troy Konstar is wrony in the „ CODA” movies. Why there is not Real historical? I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I a’m not hearing and i am euroepan
The interpreter guy is also insanely talented. A huge shout out to him!

Agreed
Pretty sure Jack has been Marlee's interpreter since her first movie!
@@katemae1076 yes his first language was ASL from his deaf parents and interpreted Marlee’s acceptance speech
Both of them
Love how Drew talks slower and clearer so Marlee and Troy can really be a part of the conversation and not totally relying on the interpreters
I've actually had some deaf people feel me that they don't like that because the pace throws them off.

She played a deaf coworker in family guy and she did speak in that
She played in 1 or 2 episodes of SVU. That was my first intro to her. Really impressed me as a person and actress. So much heart and talent. Love her!

This episode was incredible. The interview with Marlee and Troy was inspiring and lovely. I wanna learn how to do sign language now.
Most community colleges offer either an ASL I class or interpreter classes. Practice is key!!

I binged watch Marlee Matlin in “Reasonable Doubts” when I was in college back in early 90’s. I’ve learned sign language since then ❤️

You will observe, when you see it, that - frustratingly - an awful lot of the sign language is NOT on screen. CODA is a much better movie.

She's had the same interpreters for a long time as well as the other actor. They were both ahead of actors, which is unusual. There's usually a delay.

Marlee looks so young.
Drew could play Helen Keller's other helper Polly Thomson in the movie with Marlee.
