Thanks sooo much for showing us people of Irish desendency whose ancestors migrated to the new world. Thru u both, I get to see the land of my ancestors and where they are laid to rest. That means alot💙 lots of love from New Zealand 💙💙
G'morning Sue & GV. I got chills when you started playing the Foggy Dew at the end of the video. I love that song. All those brambles are a shame & I am glad you didn't break an ankle. I must still be on Ireland time over here, I get up at this time everyday lol. Hope the weather lets up & things get a bit better.xx
What an amazing cemetery. Thank you for getting in amongst the brambles to show us the hidden graves, and the architecture of the old church! What I wouldn't give to see someone clear out the brambles in that entire place. Imagine the beautiful stones you'd uncover, and the graves you'd discover. And to see what remains of the church. The vine overgrowth becoming part of that arch and keeping it help up was incredible. Love your channel! ❤
Thanks Bridget, if I only had the time and funds, I'd clear these places, we are so annoyed, the amount of times we've contacted people to help get areas cleaned and then to get no help (even though they promise) is just terrible
You are an angel on this earth for doing that, I'm glad I found them, I've been here before visiting my cousin but never did I get in here to read these souls
Another great video Sue . I mind a saying my old irish great granny saying to us love the people god gave you because one day he takes them back . ☘ 🙏 💚 .
It stops you in your tracks just hard to move on from that, prayers to you Hazel, such heartache loosing a child, no one should ever have to bare that loss 💔
Be careful where you walk in the fantastic cemetery . The beautiful flowers and vines bring a touch of life to resting place of the dear deceased . Thank you for showing us with your tour of the church yard.
Wow. The Foggy Dew. What a beautiful young man and he laid down his life for the cause. I remember in 1981 when my Dad and I stayed in Dublin - all the hunger-strikers who were dying at that time. I dreaded going on to Belfast where my Dad's family was. Being Catholic, my Dad's family Protestant, my cousins being part of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. I had no idea what I was in for.
I know Janet, how sad times were and still in pockets of places still there's that hatred and I'm sure fear. The Foggy Dew is a very beautiful song, Sinead O Connor did this song with such a haunting feeling to it
This was a great find Sue!! Shame it is so overgrown, probably more history! Be careful!!! You amaze me, tired watching you😂. Thorns and ground holes, be careful. Thanks again for an amazing tour!
Wow, what a fantastic find, Sue! Absolutely fascinating! I wish you could have seen more, but you did a great job with the filming you did manage to get! Thank you for sharing this video!
It's also weird several famous people sometimes have overgrown graves , like in some RUclips videos in UK and USA, nobody even remembers they were there...
I just finished your vid, RIP to your distant cousin, sorry he went through what he did. Your country went through a lot of stuff, been reading about it. Take care Sue and GV, can't wait for the next video.
Hello from Amity Oregon USA 🇺🇸. Hope you guys are doing good. Great video!!!! That was a super old cemetery. Imagine what it looked like back in the day, people coming and going, little kids running around, just beautiful. I love to let my imagination take me back to what these places might of looked like in the prime. Thank you for tag along. ❤
@Serenity Sue Soldiering on Sue...Good to see your Channel doing so well ! We will get there....eventually...enjoying creating the videos...that is the main thing
Beautiful resting place sue, I can imagine this place 100 of years ago being visited by friends and family And know forgotten, due to the fact of no one knowing where there ancestors were buried. Beautiful x
I so want to clean up that place! I just live so damn far away! Lol. That so many young people died from starvation is so sad. It proves that freedom comes at a huge cost. Thanks for pushing through all that vegetation for us. 😊👍
Great walking tour Sue and GV, thank you. The graveyard is fascinating, unfortunate about all the overgrowth. Would the local government, or council be in a position to help cut it back? 🤔 The grave of your cousin is very moving. I see the family helps to keep it up. As for the rest of the graveyard, this must be what happens, when the families of those buried there all pass away, or move away, and there is no one left to care about the graves, or the church ruins. 😢 Thank you very much again Sue and GV, for another great video. Take care. 😊
@Serenity Sue Well, you tried your best. People just do not seem to give a damn 🙄 anymore. Here in the United States 🇺🇸 inmates at the local county jail, work in road crews to help maintain grasses and vegetation along highways 🛣 and other roadways. They are supervised, and I believe that the inmates picked for these road crews have to meet a certain criteria. I do not know if this would work in Ireland, or if it is worth checking out. Like I said, at least you tried. You and GV take care of yourselves.
Omg! I've never seen anything like this ivy holding up the archway - or other way round. Stunning! Thank you, the whole episode was! From Vancouver ♥♥♥
That was fascinating waiting to see what you would find next in amongst the brambles, some very ancient graves hiding back there! thank you I enjoyed that 💜
Thank you for showing us this interesting cemetery. I love primroses, too. I haven't seen them since 1961 when my family came to Australia and I still miss them.
Wow you 2 are really go getters you set your eyes on the head stone and no matter what you get to it thanks for all your hard work and dedication and the valued information God Bless you and yours please stay safe Godspeed.
Amazing old cemetery 👍 such a shame it’s neglected ! Ivy will destroy that arch eventually as the secondary ‘fruiting growth’ expands the stems and will force the stones apart.
Sue we have one with railings in our cemetery we've cleared out and we said how did they get it in there well we found joints at the end where they would have dropped the end before sealing it up
What a lovely place of rest. The rule of thumb for old grave yards here in the US is for every one that you see marked, there's three that aren't. Poor folks, slaves, servants etc. People would sneak their loved ones into the churchyards under the cover of darkness to bury them on holy ground, lots of times infants and children. Sometimes there were fieldstones used, sometimes not.
Such a old old cemetary. Could you imagine if all that was cleared? People might recognize ancestors. JOHN Byrne such a gift to make such breathtaking gravestones. I would have loved to have known him. I wonder where he is buried and who did his stone? You guys really went through so much to show us this video and i so appreciate and love you guys. Interesting how that graveyard just went on and on. I still find it interesting how there's graves inside of old churches. I'm thinking a lot of those those stone churches were destroyed during the English protestant plantation? Btw, we call distant relatives "shirt tail cousins. Thanks for another great video

It is so sad communities have no appreciation for those who have come before them and paved the way for us now. They can't be bothered to take the time to keep uncovered the graves of their ancestors . Shameful...and sad. The people buried here and their descendants I am sure could NEVER picture their graves so terribly neglected.
It's not as easy as that, they need permission to touch graves, then they need to see if family are alive or to try contact families to get permission but I do understand what you are saying. Believe me we have tried several times in different locations to sort headstone and graveyards, we even tried crowd funding to help but we got nowhere
I completely understand. You would think officials could make it a little easier to maintain the cemetery grounds. I would think even way back when that families were told that graves would be maintained (by the church?) going forward? You would think that the descendants would want that still...but maybe not. Thank you both for all the beautiful, respectful, caring work you do for all the cemeteries and families. I have learned so much from both of you ❤
