The man has been doing this for 40 years he gets to say whatever he wants.
I liked it. I thought was heart felt and moving.
It was a thoughtful farewell. Who cares about him acknowledging Ryan? This wasn't about him. I understand why celebrities get tired of the spotlight. Literally everything they do is over analyzed, as evidenced by you posting this video.
100% Agree with you!! Ryan's not worth my time....Unfortunately I love the show... {course, because of Pat!} I was in hopes Vanna would do the show, and Maggie's take Vanna's place!
It is, however, about the show, and wishing the successor well would’ve been appropriate. By comparison, Alex Trebek was deeply committed to “the show”, regarding himself and future hosts of Jeopardy as temporary caretakers of the brand. Pat didn’t appear to have the same sentiment toward the show outside his role.
I think that you made a mistake, Graeme. Maggie is Pat's daughter, and Leslie is Pat's wife.

You missed the point. And your sarcasm to degrade Pat's "motives" ?? In his farewell make you sound small. 3.5 minutes he got for over years of dedication to make Wheel one of the most loved games in America?? I thought his farewell was about US, the viewers, the players, his team and the hope for the future of Wheel. Not sure why you felt it was your place to pick Pat's farewell apart so negatively. Take your mic out in the streets and see how America feels about Pat and the show.
Out of touch again Graeme. Its been a family show with Vanna& Pat's kids appearing all along. His daughter was asked several years by the producers to work on the social media. No use adding Seacrest to his farewell since he's already said nice things about Seacrest & Seacrest could change his mind before fall.

I am not like a mega Ryan fan, but I do like Ryan. I do. He always does well with these sort of things. You cannot really go wrong with Ryan as a host, but he is a bit of a safe bet. He will do well. Basically all like Ryan.

@judiekaczoroski Didn't Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy use to air in the same hour back to back years ago? I was born in the summer of '90, so I didn't see how both shows were years before when they started.

I too noticed he didn't wish his replacement Ryan Seacrest, all the best....probably because Ryan will be making almost double, $28 million of what Pat made, $15 million....I could be wrong....also, maybe Pat didn't think Ryan should have gotten the job....who knows? It does look like Maggie might be replacing Vanna in 4 years
He said what he wanted to say. He has acknowledged Ryan previously and didn't need to at that moment. There's nothing wrong with what he said. It was from the heart, and it was just fine. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. All of y'all need to stop with your petty nitpicking!!

Ryan Seacrest hosts American Idol and he makes an excellent successor to Pat Sajak. We will all miss Pat for all that he’s done. He has been a legend for all of us and Ryan Seacrest would be the same.

I think Vanna will definitely leave. There is just this awkwardness between Vanna and Ryan that translates through the tv.

I agree. Pat was definitely endorsing Maggie’s future on the show, most likely as Vanna’s replacement, which I don’t think he needed to do. It’s likely the producers will choose her since she’s actually filled in for Vanna and is young and personable. Honestly I think Maggie & Ryan would be a better pairing. I’m surprised Vanna wants to stay on. And it seemed intentional for some reason that Pat didn’t mention Ryan. Alex Trebek was deeply committed to “the show” as a separate entity, and himself and future hosts as temporary caretakers. Pat didn’t seem to have the same sentiment toward the program beyond his tenure.

Still working with the show as a consultant, while also involved in an upcoming broadway show next year, and after Vanna decided she’d give Ryan a chance, some fans happen to read rumors from the Daily Mail about the longtime co-hostess possibly retiring early. This sort of reminds us of Susan still involved for a time when Pat made his debut, and the fans would wonder how this could play out with a new co-hostess, if the rumors are true.
