    Summary
    ~~~~~
    Today we're going to install EmuDeck on the Steam Deck. This will work with both the LCD as well as the OLED mode.
    First we need to visit the EmuDeck website and download the install script. From here, drag it to the desktop so you can execute it. This will bring you to the setup wizard.
    If you want, choose Easy Mode, but I'll be going over Custom in this video.
    We're going to be choosing where our ROMs are installed to.
    Which emulators you want EmuDeck to install onto your Steam Deck.
    Which emulators you want it to configure for you.
    Then the toolkit has some extras built into it.
    Like an Auto Save feature, optional game bezels for select consoles, LCD shaders, CRT shaders, and more.
    Before we end this video, though, I do go over a tool included in EmuDeck called Steam ROM Manager. This is how we easily add our newly installed emulators to Steam as non-Steam games.
    Subscribed👍. Thank you for this vid. It was excellent. It's brilliant that you describe everything without missing out steps. I ordered my oled deck yesterday. Never had one before. I will be following your guide to installing emudeck.
    Could you please do the video showing how to add ROMS to Steam OS? I'm going to try putting either the PS1 or 3DO version of Road Rash on my deck, but have no real experience with emulators 🤞
    Any chance that you could help us out with getting Xemu to run properly? I finished this install however having issues with getting Xemu to run my games even after I added the 3 files like the MCPX BOOT ROM, FLASH ROM, HDD.
    I get pcsx2 to work as a standalone but not through RetroArch. Do you know if it requires a different directory for the bios files? It's the only reason I could think of for why it "failed to load content"
    Can I simply have emulation station selected. And then have it all organised through there. I already have emulators downloaded. How to I get them up and running on emulation station? Is it like lunchbox?
    • @SteamDeckExplained
      @SteamDeckExplained  4 месяца назад
      yes, you can have them all setup in emulation station and then launch into the games from there alone
    Do I need to use a flash drive ? I can’t install solely on the steam deck ?
    • @SteamDeckExplained
      @SteamDeckExplained  6 месяцев назад
      you can install it on the internal storage of the Steam Deck (that is what I do in this tutorial video). but you can also install it to a microSD card as well (that's how I have it setup on my OLED Steam Deck)
      @@SteamDeckExplained this may be a dumb question but what’s the reason for the flash drive ? Like what does it help you with exactly ?
      for me, it keeps the ROMs from taking up space on my internal storage. I tend to only install major AAA games on the internal storage (so things load faster). but loading speed isn't really needed on most ROMs@@nat3dgr34t
      @@SteamDeckExplained ohh gotcha now I know how to put the Roms in an emulator because of RUclips vids but when it comes to going on a website to download a rom is it as simple as just hitting that download button and nothing else then just putting it on for example PCSX2 ? Or would I have to do something to the rom so it can operate properly before putting it into PCSX2 ? Thats my last question I promise haha
    • @SteamDeckExplained
      @SteamDeckExplained  6 месяцев назад +2
      don't download ROMs for games you don't own the physical copy for (naturally). I can't condone piracy here. but once you have a ROM you just put it in the folder the EmuDeck has setup for you. so PS2 ROMs go into the ps2 folder. NES ROMs go into the NES folder, etc. and that's it. some emulators require a bios file as well, which again, don't download them illegally. extract them from your console so that everything is legit@@nat3dgr34t
    I'm trying to install emudeck on my steamdeck, however, after selecting either custom or easy installation it says "There was an error. Please restart emudeck". When I check the terminal it says that a file has not been found : "Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/deck/.config/EmuDeck/backend/versions.json'"
    What I do now ? Has anyone experienced anything similar ?
