I had 7 of the same thumbnails to choose from this morning. I chose you Jonny, even though it was the longest video. I know you're the most qualified and emotionally invested person out of the bunch to talk about such a vehicle. Thanks for making such great content.
Liam, I appreciate being your go-to on this. Longer videos can put some off, but I always try to give as much info and atmosphere as is possible. Welcome aboard TLBS.

For added “value proposition” if you are planning home battery storage for solar at any point, you are “saving yourself” 10K (that’s for around 15-16kWh and an inverter) and have a lot more to play with 😏 although it sounds like any ID with v 3.1 will be able to offer that when coupled with the VW bi directional charger they showcased a while back

@@TheLateBrakeShow Lol would you consider the T7 phev Jonny? I think VW's van range is becoming confusing now with the Transporters, the T7 Multivan and now the Buzz.
I have deep respect for VW for bringing these EVs to market. The issue is for me, that they are just too darn expensive and the options/ specs are incredibly confusing. Its very easy to make an ID4 the same money as an iPace- which is nuts. I feel VW should have aimed these cars at 'normal' families and individuals, in which case, the cheap interior materials and cack infotainment can be tolerated if the price is right, but it isnt. Its a missed opportunity as I was hoping that VW of all companies could re'make a true 'peoples EV', not yet.

@@mikeg6606 I totally agree. However when we have wage stagnation and soaring prices, people look for the cheapest option. That's why it's up to Western car makers to counter the threat with affordable cars, rather than pretentious 'luxury' SUVs.
I hear what your saying about the price. I think all car makers are less interested in making cars in volume at the moment and more focused on profit. A cheap base model is a thing of the past. The roads will be less contested as we are priced off them. Hopefully the cars that drive past me as I walk will be pleasing to look at. While I can't justify the cost of an I D buzz, I am glad it exists and look forward to seeing them.
I have to admit, having been an air-cooled VW enthusiast for the last few decades, it is hard for me to get excited about this. Not that it isn't new and high tech, it's just that VW corporate has not supported the old VW hobby, only taken from it. Using some basic design elements from back then, and playing on nostalgia, to make a new vehicle that looks just like everyone else's. Great job on the video, you do very nice work and I have enjoyed several of your other episodes. But this just seems to be another new car that will blend into the parking lot like the rest of them.
🙏🏽 Right now the GOATed preview. No frills, gave all the details needed, opinionated without framing it as a disappointment (after all it's the preproduction cargo). Keep up the great work
Had a T5 Kombi daily driver for the last 8 years. The perfect do-everything vehicle. Sometimes it's a van, sometimes it's a bedroom, usually it's just a 5-seat 5-door hatchback. Presumably I'm the target market for the Buzz ? Hmm.
Another great review, Jonny! If they get this right (and for me that means having the rear seats on rails so they can slide forwards, backwards and be removed) then it's our next family car.
They are definitely on rails, somebody else from a different channel jumped in the back and moved them himself. He didn't say they were removable but they're bound to be if on rails surely.
@@gavinwyllie7855 The California seats are on rails and I believe there are aftermarket seats/beds that can fit those rails and be removed so fingers crossed!
Great video Jonny! You know the numbers, you are enthusiastic about it, you share all the emotions that many VW Bus fans have! My first one was a 67 T1 Westfalia camper with Safari windows, that I owned in Arizona in 1982-84 and I drove it to Mexico and Canada. The ID Buzz Cargo will be my daily driver asap and I will take my granddaughter in the middle seat. Circle of life! Thanks a lot Jonny!
That comparison to the ID3 was amazing, the driving position of the buzz looked near identical to the ID3, in fact it looks very much like a direct change of body-shell on the same skateboard. Amazing packaging to make the Buzz and ID3 look so different from the drivers seat
As a big vw fan I can’t wait for this, its all i want in a vehicle, it has the retro/vw thing, its an EV , I can use it for work, I can use it for family, good show Jonny!
This is the electric vehicle I want! If I can put a tow bar on it .....then it will be perfect for me for home life and for my business. Its all the vehicle I need in one perfect package. Looks absolutely MEGA too! Great video as always Mr Smith! Please talk about it on Smith and Sniff
20 years you and me both 🤙🏻 I loved my Touran , I love my T5. This is the way forward. Yours was the review I was waiting for as I know you’re a true dubber.
Yeah, as a fellow dubber of old, pretty much everything he concentrated on were things i would have too. I have never come across another journo with the same perspective, he seemed almost bored asking the top speed, evidently spent too long driving a 45 hp flat four to care that much anymore.
I loved vw until they went down the electric handbrake road 🤦♂️ £560 to fix the handbrake button every 4 years ! Fook that for a laugh i'll never by a vw again the customer service is like having dog shit rubbed in your face ! Have fun with that 😉
This is the EV at the top of my most-wanted list. I loved the preview of it you did in Santa Monica several years ago, and have watched it more than once. It is exciting that it is getting very close to being on sale, with an exterior that looks pretty much like the prototype. Yay for electric boxes on wheels!
Great video Johnny. I too have been waiting literal decades for this to come to production. It is in fact the first EV I would consider buying myself. I will have to wait a little longer for the used market due to being let’s just say financially embarrassed by the price tag! I’m not an SUV guy, I find sporty estates to be the most practical. My current car is a Passat estate highline GT. But this could be the replacement I’m a few years.
Same boat as you, Jonny. Been chewing over the idea of a fully electric family car, but nothing really practical enough. Looks like the Buzz will jump to the top of the list. Single motor, bigger battery pack, 5 seats, tow bar and steel wheels will be the spec to have.
How does it feel to get more views than your old boss? I watched theirs first and yours by far is the most informative. You talk about the styling and cover more details. It seemed like they were just going through the paces. "Oh we better cover this, blah blah". Love the work you do Jonny.
When i was a kid, my younger brother had a Matchbox toy of the VW Van concept. We're talking 2001, 2002 maybe. And i cant believe how similar it is to this new van! I think it looks great. I really enjoyed this review. Keep up the great work 👍
Hey Johnny. I have been writing VW since your 2018 video. With this form factor and the MEB skateboard platform they could have made a factory option for wheelchair accessibility. If you do another video with the VW folks I would love to hear you ask them about accessibility. Lots car nuts in wheelchairs stuck modifying ICE cars with transmission tunnels etc.
Johnny, you're one of the best motoring Journalists out there - it's madness that you are not on a mainstream TV show - comparing you to the likes of Plato and Needell, is like comparing a Lamborghini to walking ...
Thank you for another brilliant video Jonny. Your channel is my go-to for any motoring news/exclusives and you didn’t disappoint. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I wrote on the video preview comments that this would be listening to a new album from your favourite band, partly excited about something that could be brilliant and partly scared it'd be rubbish. I've opened the CD- remember those? - then sat down to listen. I've got an enormous grin on my face. I think this'll be awesome. Thanks, Jonny. This is a brilliant video. I now need to figure out how to earn enough money to afford one(!).
I have many fond memories of my Grandparents driving me around as a kid in their Kombi, which was my mum and siblings family car too! I’ve always wanted to get something similar, the ID Buzz makes a lot of sense, especially as I have a growing family myself. Great review, has really got me thinking now….just need to wait for that configurator 😎
"This is what it look like next to a T6 Multivan, this is what it looks like next to a ID3, and this is what it looks like next to a skip at the same time"! Great content.
Best review of the ID Buzz so far, Jonny, I know it was hard as there was so much secret about it. I have the same emotional attachment to the type 2 VW's as you, so was looking forward to your take more than anyone, But 50 k, I am sure the version I would want is closer to 60 k. Windowed 2 front seat van with lift up rear hatch. 2 tone paint, Steelie or empi 5 spoke alloys. I can sort my own fun interior out as from what we can see it is a bit corporate boring VW black and grey. But the price..........\o/.…. Anyway, well done for getting as much as you did out of Marcus. I'll work out if I need to start saving on March the 9th. I would sell my Splitty if they nail it.
Jonny is always the consummate professional giving stats and figures after doing his homework. Another well appointed episode. Would be great for a revisit when officially released and you can review the inside. A perfect end to the working day by watching my favourite motoring journalist 😊
Well, I've just ordered a Buzz - that's how much I like it! And I haven't actually seen one yet (very few have, I suspect, as the dealer won't have any demonstrators in until august/september). I've ordered White over Bay leaf Green exterior paint and white w/jade inserts interior. Can't wait! Jonny's reviews are fantastic as always!
I was strongly hoping that VW would at least make the front jump seats available for the MPV. The Honda FRV and Fiat Multipla were like the only 6 seat two row family cars on the market. Loved the video, Johnny!! 👌❤️
I've been waiting years for this and I feel VW is taking advantage of the anticipation and the press. You do a great job with what you are allowed to share it come on this is ridiculous.
Waiting for this one for a while!! Also, GREAT looking watch Johnny! Thanks so much for the really wonderful work you've been up to.. Hope to see you with a million subs soon!! Edit: I actually LOVE the camouflage skin on it!
Short overhang but measure the distance from the steering wheel to the front bumper - you're sat a fair way back these days. Another great video - I will look forward to seeing the finished version shortly 👌
Thanks Johnny for the nicely produced vid despite the limited information you could give out 👍 Although I can see a fair bit of negativity about its real world looks already, I think people have forgotten that it is, and always has been, foremost a van 🤨. The important things are the fundamentals such as drive quality, feeling etc, the rest are cosmetic and can be (& no doubt will be) changed later if required. I think from what little we can see, it holds quite true to the concept, and the only thing I'm not too keen on are the 'stuck on' look hinges of the rear doors on the cargo version 🤔 It would have to be the giant tailgate version for me. Also, would've liked the charge port centrally on the nose under the VW logo 😁 but I realise why it is where it is. The pricing will very much be key...
Well those stuck on hinges are for a reason. I seem to remember those are full 180 swing out opening cargo doors. Not just normal doors 90 degree rear doors. Which is important to commercial customers, since with 180 cargo doors one can back the van straight up to a raised loading ramp or a warehouse door without having to leave room for the sticking out of the back doors. Thus allowing straight loading from inside the building. Also side opening 180 cargo doors allow things like forklifts, which are many times wider than the cargo opening in their main chassis to drive right flush to the back thus say fork lifting a pallet straight to the back. Since again not an accident they sized the cargo back to just exactly fit two euro pallets. Also same why no up raising gate..... Where does the lift frame of the fork lift go, if there is the raised gate to collide into and overhanging the loading lip It is a real work van and one can see designed as such. Oh and absolutely agree on the.. People forget even T2 was a van. Nobody just bothers to remember the boring panel van ones/bothered to keep them around. What was kept around was the bus versions with all the buzz about how many windows this and that version has, since they had more personal use and owners. Where as the T2 panel vans were used until parts wore through and well after it came end of life that fleet owner just changed to newer panel van. Plus well the T2 panel van wouldn't stick out compared to many other panel vans of the time anyway on a quick look.
@@aritakalo8011 very good points - I suspected it might be something like that. Wouldn't have done any harm to have body colour matched them for the preview models though 😁
out of all electric motors on the market today, after owning numerous makes of vans in past years. this has really caught my attention. the long wheel base version has my interest in investing.
Awesome showcase of the buzz Jonny! Can't wait for the March 9 launch. I've been holding out for an electric and I think the buzz will be the winner for me.
I clicked on the other video's before yours was posted and clicked OFF all of them within 3 seconds. See TLBS and watched it to the end. Well done my friend
Great review Jonny - I've also been waiting 20 years for this launch - I have had every version of the beetle (old and new) and still have a 1972 T2 in the garage... It's a shame they've toned down the retro looks from the concept version you drove in Cali, but that was always going to happen! Look forward to seeing inside the MPV version properly! Fingers crossed they get it right. Would love one you can take the back seats out of, especially if I could slide the longboard under the front seats to get it inside the vehicle, or even clamp a bed and cooker into the floor rails for real flexibility - how good would that be?
Absolutely love the iD Buzz. I feel exactly the same about MPVs v SUVs. Sorry car makers I don’t want a flipping SUV!! The iD Buzz is the answer and I can’t wait to see the real deal. Great video Jonny. 😉
Love it. I currently have a T6 campervan and would love to see what it's like behind the sliding door to see how a camper conversion would work in one. Maybe wait for the LWB version though
Jonny, Bravo. Well done video for what information you were able to give. I'm with you. I want something for my family that's electric. i have 3 kids, and currently there isn't anything on the market that can fit our needs, for the right price, with the correct range. The magic combo we would want is 7-8 passenger, 300 mile range for around $40k. This does not exist currently. I feel this does the closest for our needs. The range is not quite there, but close. I also have an old 65 split window bus, which is also maximizing its wheelbase with space. This does the same. Love it, and can't wait. We will be first in line when they finally arrive stateside.
I want one… I don’t care that I have not seen the interior…. I just want one! I’d trade my Beamer in a heartbeat for it… it smacks of a vehicle you drive to smile in… Cracking long video… he has such investment in the vehicle and I trust his opinion! oh and I’d probably have the camo paint scheme Nice work!
India never got any of the VW vans. I hope they launch some version of this car here in India in near future. It looks just so good. Not hard to imagine the shape despite the livery.
I have no interest in the Transporter, I don't want an MPV, I don't want to drive a van... but this is genuinely exciting. They've done a great job turning the concept into something actually usable. It looks like a really good vehicle, filling an actual need in the segment. Really good review of it as ever, nice to see comparisons to the existing T6 and the ID.3. Good stuff Jonny.
Cool little thing. I just really want a decent 4x4 MPV with a fair amount of ground clearance and option for a set of decent all terrains. I live out in the countryside where 4x4 can be mandatory a few months of the year. With the flooding we have here also a little ground clearance goes a very long way! Very much like you with the whole large space, towbar, jack of all trades type deal. For now im going to stick to my old kia sportage. But man i would love one of these with a 6" lift and 4x4. Not that in matters to me personally. Well done for the Vegan interior! Full support and backing for stuff like that. Oh and please VW, physical buttons! Don't want to navigate a tablet while driving, just let me turn a knob or press a button.
I love the “this shows all about…” and Jonny stops himself from saying practicality, realizing his shows aren’t about anything specific, and that’s okay. Jack of all trades, and why the heck not master of all.
Looking good so far apart from the migraine inducing colours ,also loved the suprise from Marcus as you asked about him and how long he worked for Vw not many reviewers do that but of course this why we follow Jonny :)
Fabulous review Jonny. Totally agree with you re MPVs. I bought a Touran over a Tiguan for the reasons you cited. This Buzz is something else though - incredible.
Great video Johnny, but they took the cool Buzz concept and made it look like a T6. The funky graphics can’t hide that they’ve sucked the joy out of it.
They also kind of redesigned it to be a stretched out ID3. Which just makes it lumpy and fussy where it should be smooth. It is somehow even less charismatic than a 90s Ford Aerostar minivan, which is impressive. Especially considering that the pattern for this vehicle is supposedly the most charismatic small van ever made. 🤷 Would it have killed VW to just give the people what they want for once?
I’m hoping Jonny is spot on about the residuals holding up, that should lead to a very low leasing price. Unfortunately by the time is out and the lease market understands it my 9 year old twins will probably have flown the nest and I’ll no longer have a need for a car of this type!
If this is 50k for a VW mini van that's just crazy money, electric or not. Imagine how much the camper will be. Oh and than the government will start charging electric vehicles by the mile to get those taxes.
Great video as usual Johnny. Your passion really comes through and especially in this one. The car is very interesting and I really hope a couple of years down the line I can tempt my wife to maybe get a 7 seat one of these instead of our current (new), XC90 T8. Maybe when charging is just that little bit better and she finally gives up on needing a fuel tank! Interested to see the final version and the video review from you! Thanks 👍
Since I first saw the concept at Goodwood in 2019, I have been waiting eagerly for the Buzz to become a reality. It has definitely been worth the wait; this thing is fantastic. Jonny, great video, but I think I will have to boycott the channel if you and Chops don't buy one ;) I'm "buzzing".
Dude, really enjoyed the preview. I watched a couple of other vids on the Id.buzz and initially balked at 30 minute time but gee it was worth the watch. Having Marcus in the car with you was great. Loved hearing his thoughts. Also the things you do that the others don’t. A good walk around outside and the comparison between the multi van and the id.3, nice touches!
I feel the same way about having an electric Van/Bus as my family car but I am sure that this one will be massively expensive because VW is just aiming at a more lifestyle oriented clientele which is willing to pay extra
VW commercial vehicles are always expensive to buy, but they usually have great Lease options for the self employed (UK) and with the great residuals the monthly payment are usually affordable I had a 180 Sportline T5 it was worth silly money when I sold it
These look cool in the pre-production camo’, I wonder if they will offer it as a wrap on production cars? I hope so. If not I suspect the aftermarket will step up. Presumably some nice two tone white-over-something schemes will be available from the factory
Great review! I have owned a couple of Bugs a New Beetle a baywindow cargo van and a crew cab and a couple of Mk1 Golf 15 months I picked up my first BEV a VW ID.3 and the moore i drive it the moore it connects back to the simplicity and purity of design and usability of the bug and Golf it feels like those but modern In December 2023 my ID.3 goes back and I have already told my dealer to have a ID BUZZ with the largest battery pack tow package matrix lights waiting for me Can't wait....
£50k sounds like a lot and I expect you can add £5k to that for a nicely spec'd MPV version. However if you are able to take advantage of the bi-directional charging with a good solar array it would make a really compelling option. Afterall a Tesla Powerwall will run you at least £8.5k and that only gives you 13.5kwh capacity.
Fully agree with you Jonny, that could be the next family car, really impressive review, lots of questions, some slight acknowledgement by your passenger!
Great review Jonny, as always. Your knowledge and enthusiasm shines through. I think in a two-tone colour scheme and some choice retro rims, the 'buzz could look pretty good. Shame about the dodgy infotainment and touch screen heating controls! What was wrong with knobs and dials?!
You're a fantastic car journalist!!! Amazing review. About the car. Well... I love the ID Buzz... In a 2 tone painting...orange and silver, i think it will look amazing.
Going to wait until I see one for real without the silly stripes. I’m just a bit disappointed the suits insisted on a corporate face instead of the stunning concept. I’m sure I’ll get over it in time, but not quite yet. We’ll have to have a serious think about whether one of these replaces or T5 camper in time, depending what competition comes along over the next three years.
You really should wait to see it without the camo wrap that deliberately hides the lines of the car. Its very obviously changed very little, the side creases and rear strakes are still there, the lights if anything will even better suit the 2-tone paint.
I completely agree. There are some renders online based on the latest version and it looks awful, more of a van than the original concept. I too really want it as a family wagon, but not if it looks like the renders. Also 135kw just isn’t that fast anymore. VW lagging behind their American and South Korean competitors.
@@brooksietyper no, with this increase to 135kw and better charging curve, they end with about 27mins from 10 to 80%...Tesla has the Marketing value of above 200kw,but drops heavily after 50%. The time to 80 is only about 2 to 3mins faster...cannot See the big advantage any more
I’ve recently swapped my SMax for a Q7 and it’s been a reminder of how good the SMax packaging was. I’m definitely interested in the MPV version as a future family car if they can get the quality, range and controls right (I do not want to be swiping left and right for volume controls on a fiddly touch screen)
One thing that Covid and lockdown have combined to do is send vehicles prices that were already too high, up into the realms where I, a self employed man, simply won't be able to afford one ! No-one seems to mention this on any video I have watched !
I’ve been waiting a long time for this, as Jonny said, 20 years. Here’s hoping the service stations long the M4, M5 and down into Cornwall get their acts together and start ramping up the installation of chargers. Ditto camp sites in and around our coast lines.
I love this review of the ID Buzz, and really hope you manage to do a review, including the interior, of the passenger version soon. As far as colour goes, I’m sure VW will do various split colour combinations. But you know something? I would happily take one in the “camouflage” colour scheme on the one you’re driving. Stay safe and well. 😊👍🏻
Great review as always Johnny, but i cant get excited about a Minibus that is so far from the original concept its sad. Typical VW playing it safe yet again. It just too safe no matter how its powered. I said on your IG channel that its a bit T6, probably more T7.
Firstly, a great review Jonny, as always, of a vehicle that always had my eye. However, as many have already said, the price point is totally untenable for the average family. Used vehicles will also be expensive, so that is not an option for the forthcoming future. I fear that there will be be many ICE vehicles on the road with starship mileage for years to come, unless EV prices come down.
thanks for all the details and close look at details - the youtubers in Copenhagen got to film inside (Björn Nyland) even though limited and much was covered so not sure why you were more restricted. like the look of the short wheelbase and thansk for showing it next to an ID 3 ..helps understand the relative smallness. Drive a zipcar VW Transporter occasionally so can see how much better this is for consumers
I hope you are right about it making MPV's cool again. My daughter is dithering about getting an SUV and i am pushing the estate argument. Looks cool so far.
Quite like the look of this. As a tradesman though, I would be disappointed by the 2.2 + 0.45 extra under the seat. It need to be 3m. I’m driving an Env200, which is 20cm shorter, and I can just squeeze in 3m long materials under the seat (I made a hole). Not much but it’s very handy for a couple of lengths of something. We don’t all want or need pipe tubes on the roof. Excellent review though Johnny 👍

Sounds excellent Soren. Will you buy it in matching colours to your old Westy?
20 years you and me both 🤙🏻
I loved my Touran , I love my T5.
I loved vw until they went down the electric handbrake road 🤦♂️
£560 to fix the handbrake button every 4 years !
Fook that for a laugh i'll never by a vw again the customer service is like having dog shit rubbed in your face !
Have fun with that 😉
@@onsight2822 luckily I’ve never had one new enough to have that god awful function 😂
This is the EV at the top of my most-wanted list. I loved the preview of it you did in Santa Monica several years ago, and have watched it more than once. It is exciting that it is getting very close to being on sale, with an exterior that looks pretty much like the prototype. Yay for electric boxes on wheels!
Cheers Larry.
Bar far the best look at the buzz/cargo ! The genuine passion you have for this shines through to any vw fan. I look forward to more.
I have been waiting years for Jonny to review this, finally it's here 👍
The batteries will outlast the car. So absolutely no need to worry.
It’s not here yet. Expect a long long waiting list into 2025
Same boat as you, Jonny. Been chewing over the idea of a fully electric family car, but nothing really practical enough. Looks like the Buzz will jump to the top of the list. Single motor, bigger battery pack, 5 seats, tow bar and steel wheels will be the spec to have.
Same here, a one car does eveything kinda thing.
With a few options this will be £60k though.
How does it feel to get more views than your old boss? I watched theirs first and yours by far is the most informative. You talk about the styling and cover more details. It seemed like they were just going through the paces. "Oh we better cover this, blah blah". Love the work you do Jonny.
Four separate videos for this vehicle appeared in my subscription feed this morning - this is the one I chose to watch first ;-)
Ian, we love you.
That was the best review so far, awesome work Jonny! What a great vehicle, looking forward to trying out the Buzz version.
Many thanks Craig.
The only channel and journalist worthy of reviewing this Icon!!
Well done Johnny.
Great looking Van/Buzz. They are going to sell a TON of these!
Jonny is always the consummate professional giving stats and figures after doing his homework. Another well appointed episode. Would be great for a revisit when officially released and you can review the inside.
A perfect end to the working day by watching my favourite motoring journalist 😊
Many thanks for watching Gary.
5 minutes in and you're already way ahead of every other reviewer. Lots of great details.
One of the most exciting EV's to date. Brilliant episode too.
I'm with you Johnny. MPVs are far more appealing to me than any SUV.
I've been waiting years for this and I feel VW is taking advantage of the anticipation and the press. You do a great job with what you are allowed to share it come on this is ridiculous.
Johnny a job well done. Buzz is better than T7 but for me, T6.1 is the best for long distances at this moment.
Waiting for this one for a while!! Also, GREAT looking watch Johnny! Thanks so much for the really wonderful work you've been up to.. Hope to see you with a million subs soon!!
Edit: I actually LOVE the camouflage skin on it!
Many thanks Anthony. Watch is a U-boat U42.
No idea what’s more spectacular, the wrap on that van or your jumper.
Short overhang but measure the distance from the steering wheel to the front bumper - you're sat a fair way back these days.
Another great video - I will look forward to seeing the finished version shortly 👌
Got an ID.3 mostly based on Johnny’s review. Having watched this, now saving for a Buzz California to replace the T5 in a few years!
Thanks Johnny for the nicely produced vid despite the limited information you could give out 👍
Although I can see a fair bit of negativity about its real world looks already, I think people have forgotten that it is, and always has been, foremost a van 🤨.
Great comments, and I agree to all of them. Folks have forgotten the Type 2 was always 'just a van'.
Most people just cant see the lines through the camo, which isnt THAT surprising since thats the whole point of the camo
Where does the lift frame of the fork lift go, if there is the raised gate to collide into and overhanging the loading lip
It is a real work van and one can see designed as such.
@@Ads.D if you look closely they are matched. The cargo van is black under the wrap
out of all electric motors on the market today, after owning numerous makes of vans in past years.
this has really caught my attention. the long wheel base version has my interest in investing.
Have seen a few others do vids on this, been waiting for this one to drop, as the kids might say.
I want one… I don’t care that I have not seen the interior…. I just want one! I’d trade my Beamer in a heartbeat for it… it smacks of a vehicle you drive to smile in…
Cracking long video… he has such investment in the vehicle and I trust his opinion! oh and I’d probably have the camo paint scheme
Nice work!
That look Marcus gave him around 16.40 was quite touching!
Fabulous review Jonny. Totally agree with you re MPVs. I bought a Touran over a Tiguan for the reasons you cited. This Buzz is something else though - incredible.
😍 that is going to look brilliant in a split colour scheme…I can see this selling well. Price is a bit steep but such is the way with EV’s
You are SO the right person to review this. I feel the same - electric / skateboard REALLY suits the bus
Cheers!
Great video Johnny, but they took the cool Buzz concept and made it look like a T6. The funky graphics can’t hide that they’ve sucked the joy out of it.
I agree, the window line ruins it.
They’ve obviously realised that if you make a vehicle too niche, you put off a lot of potential buyers. You make money by appealing to the masses.
🤷 Would it have killed VW to just give the people what they want for once?
totally agree, it looks lke a normal van now
It's probably going to depend on how you paint it.
Super review by a super bloke. Very knowledgeable, unbiased and honest review.
Great review Jonny. Very detailed. Very exciting. Going to be out of my price range but looking forward to seeing it on the roads.
I’m hoping Jonny is spot on about the residuals holding up, that should lead to a very low leasing price. Unfortunately by the time is out and the lease market understands it my 9 year old twins will probably have flown the nest and I’ll no longer have a need for a car of this type!
They had an open canvas to really do a vw retro van/bus, but this is what you do when you have no vision.. Jonny, great video as usual..
If this is 50k for a VW mini van that's just crazy money, electric or not. Imagine how much the camper will be. Oh and than the government will start charging electric vehicles by the mile to get those taxes.
Jonny I remember you doing the test of the concept vehicle in California, you had hair then, lol. When will the camper version be available??
Great video as usual Johnny. Your passion really comes through and especially in this one.
The car is very interesting and I really hope a couple of years down the line I can tempt my wife to maybe get a 7 seat one of these instead of our current (new), XC90 T8. Maybe when charging is just that little bit better and she finally gives up on needing a fuel tank! Interested to see the final version and the video review from you! Thanks 👍
👍🏽
Love it! And you touch all questions I have when I watch the show. Right distans to what you see and describes. Excellent work.
I feel the same way about having an electric Van/Bus as my family car but I am sure that this one will be massively expensive because VW is just aiming at a more lifestyle oriented clientele which is willing to pay extra
remember vw have other brands like skoda and seat... and they'll share this platform.
theres a guy on electric classic car channel, he converts classics to EV, may be worth looking at for some different options?
VW commercial vehicles are always expensive to buy, but they usually have great Lease options for the self employed (UK) and with the great residuals the monthly payment are usually affordable
I had a 180 Sportline T5 it was worth silly money when I sold it
@@XTR985 used car/van prices are so high right now too. Some used are going for higher than listed new price
As Jonny said, comparable to the T6s that are already on the market. I wouldn't consider that massively expensive.
Bring it !!!! Perfect size and functionality for me as an adventure-cyclist
Great review Jonny, absolutely fantastic. Thank you. Hugely excited about this in people carrier spec.
Thanks for watching ✊🏽
It is kind of unbelievable Tesla hasn't done anything to add V2G/V2L
£53k for a small/medium sized panel van? @13:50
One thing that Covid and lockdown have combined to do is send vehicles prices that were already too high, up into the realms where I, a self employed man, simply won't be able to afford one ! No-one seems to mention this on any video I have watched !
@@davidnash8586 Same. Remember all the talk of when EVs would eventually achieve price parity with their ICE equivalents? Yeah right.
Johnny your all over that ID like a charity shop suit 🤣
Only pulling your leg brother! I know you love VW busses, good review m8!😉👍
Its mad isn't it, suv's are just bloated cars with not really anymore room inside. Why do people fall for it.
By far the most comprehensive and in depth review I have seen well done to you jonny (I can see some people ordering that paint job)
Many thanks Paul. Yeah, I quite like this decal job as well.
The concept car was much cooler than this, with its rounded design.
Agreed. This car look like every other car now coming from China
Good comments Richard, many thanks.
Wow. This new ID van would be very cool if they built it as a 3 seater (bench) with truck bed like the old ones at 6:08
Yes. That would be brilliant!
I've been wanting one since I was a kid. Now, as an EV it has even more appeal.
I look forward to see the standard two colour versions.
Hopefully they'll offer some of the original pastel shades like the orange, green and blues
