Great video - thank you! Special to be part of this journey of improvement. Imagine when they have solved all issues and it’s only upgrades, making your car better & better over time. Lot of opportunity to exceed customer expectations on buying / owning a car vs current static model of ownership.
Do you know of a simple way to stop the clicking without replacing the vents? Can we simply pull a fuse. I haven't tried anything yet as it just broke yesterday
There are no more replacement vents since the supplier is out of business. There are some people looking at converting the vents to manual. This involves breaking the vent connection and installing vent adjustment fins. No there is no fuse that will fix it.
My right vents stated clicking yesterday. It goes away once I put the car into drive...and luckily it doesn't make the noise when the AC/heat is blowing. Was that your experience?
@@jeffreymills4307 I had the noise back last January and got it replaced in March. Yes, on startup, it makes a lot of noise. If you only have one of the four vents broken, it's not two bad. Some people use chopsticks to open up the vent slats so air goes through. Does your vent stay closed on startup?
That's why they replace all four and the controller module. The 3D printed piece will eventually fail. Hopefully the redesigned unit will be robust. He has done 20+ replacement jobs so far.
I had one defective vent at delivery and got my vents and the module replaced in January. I saw a glimpse of the cabin air filter in your video. Have you determined if the cabin air-filter is customer serviceable? I have been replacing them myself for over 15 years and found Fiskers statement that Fisker would need to replace it just a bit strange.
Yes, the tech showed me how to access the cabin filter. It's several bolts on the lower panel, a side trim piece and the taco tray to be removed. Then there is access to the filter door. I'll be doing a video later in the year on this. I don't forsee needing to replace it until around November or so (12 months from delivery). One owners should be getting these items replaced for free under the four year service package benefit.
Hmm, I bought a ONE version, so I guess if I have an issue with my vents, being one of the older builds, I'm probably SOL. If I had of purchased the 'Extreme' Trim instead, which did cost more at Fisker Newport (where I bought mine), do you know if that newer build would have already had the newer vents?
@@ericjansen9042 I don’t think the Extreme were immune from the issue. It’s hard to say when the manufactured date cutoff for vents that work correctly. Possibly December. Even then, I have heard reports of the updated vents also having problems.
Hello. Thanks for your videos. I have 3 of my 4 vents not functioning. Since Fisker is not doing Warranty work now I found a set with controller for $690 from a previous Fisker dealer. They want $1200+ labor to install. I'm thinking about grabbing the vents and controller and either do myself or find a past Fisker Mech to install. Thoughts about doing yourself after you watched it being done? I have the tools to take everything apart but I am worried about getting all those pieces back in the right order.
Seeing what the tech had to do (he had performed more than a dozen of these) I would not attempt myself. If you are the serious DIY, you may, but I would think it would take all day. If you have not joined FOA, they have a forum where you can submit service requests. FOA is managing some of the remaining techs for warranty repairs. Having the four vents and the vent controller (important) makes this a lot easier to schedule since the parts are hard to find.
@@MTNRanger Thanks for the reply. I may just secure the parts for now. As cool as they are when they worked, good old manual vents would have been just fine on my Ocean One.
I do 3D printing for a living. There are multiple materials that can be used for 3D printing some are extremely intolerant to heat, some stronger and resistant, and I now do carbon fiber printing. Also, there is infill, the interior of the part vs. exterior. And then there is print orientation meaning how the part layers can be set to produce stronger parts. And they could have used a resin printer. I believe I noticed that the door handles were 3D printer, the interior part of it. For the automotive industry injection modeling should be used. 3 D printed parts for only very exposed areas where removal and replacement is extremely easy but then you are exposing the part to, perhaps, intense sunlight and heat. I’m in Arizona with 115 degree summers. A 3D printed part like that will, easily fail. If you have the techs number maybe a thing to ask is if her knows the range of numbers that could be impacted. For example I test drove 601 of 5000 yesterday so I wonder if I have the 3D printed part. You got this done, which is great, if Fisker goes bankrupt and this is a defect we will all have thus issue with no solution. It’s a tough remove and install and then what would I do? Would I be designing my own 3D printed solution? And the doggy door window. What do we do. Do we have to connect 12v to the system to maintain while we connect a battery so we maintain 12v because if Fisker disappears we will not be able to recalibrate without tech support. Not looking good as many of us might have no climate controls and the rear most windows don’t move. And if you have a 12v failure with the doggy windows down then you have that to live with indefinitely.
That’s a lot to respond to. I don’t think there is a definite VIN range for those that need the vent modules replaced. I don’t think the interior door handles are 3D printed. Yes, with the 12V disconnected, a tech needs to recalibrate doggie windows. I think there may be a may be a way to close the doggie windows if they get stuck if there is a disconnect.
@@MTNRanger That doggie window recalibration is a mess. Eventually everyones 12v will need to be replaced. I would, probably, daisy chain the new 12v going in so I maintain a battery on the system. But then that could introduce an issue all on it's own. But that's insane as everyone will have failed windows at some point.
@@DaveDarin I agree, it’s definitely an issue. From talking to multiple techs, it looks like no solution yet to make this a remote or user based fix for the calibration.
Thank you for this video. I too am having the same problem with my vents, and have since delivery. 😮 They just wouldn’t open on the passenger side. Then a couple of wks ago the grinding, clicking sounds stated when waking the car up. Now my sunroof doesn’t open. 🤬 I’ve been putting off contacting Fisker about the vents and overhead rattling because I was collecting all my “issues” for just one corrective visit, but the sunroof has pushed my patience. 😬 I did try using the app two wks ago, but it wasn’t working for reporting my service requests. So your video has helped me to get off my procrastinating butt. Shocking how much has to come off the car to correct the vent issues. Thanks.
I would still suggest making a service request. You can add more items later. If the app is not making the service request, call the 1-844-347-5371 or fiskerinc.com/contact .
@@MTNRanger Thank you Matt. I did notify them through the website b/c the app is still not working. I'll call if I don't get a f/u. Appreciate your response.
@@Ocean1_FSRYes, as soon as the cabin filters become available! Granted I usually only replace them annually, it's not due until November. The tech has not heard anything about maintenance on these yet. Supposedly as One owners, that should be covered for the first five(?) years.
Omg this is a nightmare... My vents all of a sudden are not working too and seeing how they took everything apart has me freaked out. Everything on this car that can go wrong has gone wrong for me. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose a bolt bolt or connection the way things have gone wrong for me.
They put a 3D printed part in a moving assembly deep within the car? Amateur day. 🤦🏼♂️ Every single one of those will fail. It’s just a matter of time.
The part you mentioned about having to "recalibrate" the car after disconnecting the 12V battery is a bit concerning. So when it comes time to replace your 12V battery or it dies from vampire drain, California mode and possibly other features will simply stop working unless a tech recalibrates the car?!? That seems like a bad design choice. If you have a contact it might be helpful to have them document the exact steps for doing that recalibration so that owners can do it themselves (assuming that's not covered in the Owners Manual) in the event that Fisker goes out of business. Hopefully that recalibration doesn't require special tools or major disassembly of the car.
Currently the calibration requires a service laptop connected to the OBD2 port or wirelessly. It uses a combination of Magna and Fisker servers for this. Service techs are aware of this issue and want it to be fixed ASAP since it would save them a lot of time. The techs I have talked to don’t know when this will be implemented.
@@MTNRanger Thx. Gosh I hope they fix this before they turn into a pumpkin. It would be more than annoying to loose basic functionality (can't open sunroof, dog window or back window) just because you need to change the 12v battery.
