Well like most US wars - there isn't a logical answer but if you really don't know why Afghanistan was invaded than you missed the major irony of this documentary - particularly in the 'domestic terrorism' portion. The US invaded Afghanistan for their supposed 'war on terror' following the 9/11 attack on the twin towers and the pentagon. Bush was alleging the former government (the Taliban) was allowing the country to become a breeding ground for terrorism, which is how Osama Bin Laden was able to carry out his attacks. Which is ironic in itself for various reasons. Fast forward 20+ years the Taliban is back in power and the US has had a major rise in domestic terrorism related to white supremacy ideology rather than extremist jihadists. In one way you could count the war as a major success (a joke).. It's also had huge spikes in mass shootings (which could be seen as terrorism incidents) and that's caused by an entirely different issue, domestic politics.
Those poor civillians in Afghanistan & Iraq were asking the same question. What did they do to deserve so many deaths, home and countries destroyed,? But at least they died fighting for their homeland.

Thank you CNA for this documentary. I hope one featuring the voices of Afghanis will also be made as well. I understand that this is about the voices of ex-US soldiers who fought in the middle east and their voices are important (even those gun toting, "muh rights" middle aged militia uncles who seem to be cosplaying). I also think about the Afghans and Iraqis caught in a war that was built on lies, that destroyed their homes and killed their families. For those people, they have no homes to go back to and sometimes no family. Perhaps the next time US tries to convince the world of a new enemy, we would be just a bit more skeptical about them manufacturing consent for yet another war and conflict.
The problem with the US convincing the world of another enemy? Well contrary to popular believe, rulers of democratic nations no longer need majority support to do anything. They just need to convince 10 to 20% of the population to support whatever idiocy they planning on. The remaining 40% is already banked in thanks to partisan politics. Imagine being registered card carrying members of a political party, often a tradition over multiple generations in a family.

Given that the taliban was the government in power when the US went in, perhaps that is the government of the people, although it’s the government the US wanted
Here's some perspective for everyone concerning the War in Afghanistan. It cost the United States $2.313 trillion dollars to fight the war. The total number of enemy combatants both Taliban and Al-Qaeda killed was 85,791 It cost the United States taxpayer $27 million dollars to kill each of those combatants. And in the end, President Joe Biden handed everything back to the Taliban including $85 billion dollars worth of US military equipment and weapons. I wonder if it was worth it? I did not include the cost of American and our allies' lives because in my opinion even losing one of our own soldiers was not worth the cost.
USA and NATO allies are guilty of war crimes against humanity when they waged war on innocent Afghan people in 1970s overthrowing young revolutionary government . Forcing Soviet union to get involved , thousands of Soviet citizens lost their lives fighting this NATO imposed war. Hundreds of thousands of Afghanis have unnecessarily lost their lives. Tens of thousands of NATO troops have suffered ..... Let's pray for peace and common sense friendship amongst nations on this golden planet earth
But the genes of peace do not exist in the USA and Nato. The USA was not born of peace but of violence, massacres, lies and theft of the natives' land and natural resources. Nato was formed for war.
Though the war on Terror was supposed to get the bad guys and then nation build Iraq and Afghanistan as typical western server states opposed to ' terror's. But these efforts were so awful, in the end, it seems the whole point really was to sow chaos, discord, and trauma throughout the middle east. By traumatizing the middle east, it makes the cost of attacks on the US so high that it's less likely to happen again. So even if all the nation building failed, the chaos and trauma would at least deter future attacks since so many suffered.

The Taliban didn't refuse to hand over UBL. The USA has repeatedly and conveniently set aside its reputation as a country of laws in its efforts to steal resources it has been unable or unwilling to obtain through normal trade.

They used nuclear weapons all over Iraq, Afghan, as well as Syria; and sold them to Israel and UK too. The populations of those countries will die over the next two decades from birth defects, cancers and diseases related to enriched uranium and depleted uranium, just as the troops exposed. @@jaybelle1909 , I surely find this video and the contents thereof rather dubious. Also find it dubious why it was re-aired in August of 2021 (as opposed to why not Jan 2021, or 2022, or 2018, etc.), when it was first aired in 2003.
I merely managed to put it more courteously.
Well, I think the American are the richest in the world. Most of the money your governments spend on international policing rather than on their own citizens . Yet still look at celebrities, cosmetic doctors and so on ………
They are the world police, American is on the path downhill, a lot of debts, keep printing money to keep their economic going, some days is going out of gas and their economic eventually collapse.
Why would anyone follow American standards? Americans are the only people on earth that plays FOOTball using their hands🤣🤣
Rich what rich... dollar doesn't backed by gold anymore ...😆
I'm a psychotherapist and see a lot of ex military people walk in my door. Humans are not made to kill humans, with the exception of the psychopathic personality. You might dehumanise as you have been taught, but sooner or later something (and it can be seemingly unrelated), will cause you to struggle and/or snap. It's essentially "shell shock"

We're out of Afghanistan. We left in a despicable manner. It is done. Now, how about providing a higher income, better services & more benefits to our vets & active service members....instead of CUTTING THEM? The US government needs to get its priorities straight.
You wanna know why/ (how even after all that US military training ) they gave up without a fight when the taliban swept in???
Its because they don’t know what they’re fighting for !!!

US veteran suicides... that’s insane! what did they do? What did they see over there?
Antidepression meds man. Those meds have side effect of suicide. My brother was on it and it was horrible. Big pharma
You're kinda assuming vets mostly kill themselves over regret when that is a tiny tiny fraction of vets offing themselves... it's everything beyond just warfare such as things like witnessing how ppl in other nations wrongly treat each other... mostly witnessing death of all ppl even your enemies, seeing your friends die, seeing civilians die, seeing taliban strap children with bo mb vest and told to walk over to US forces; it's regret from shooting kids who were forced to shoot at US forces or being paid $5 to throw grenades at US forces; it's witnessing civilian lives lost do to taliban using them as shields or agfani informants giving wrong reports, or taliban spys pretending to be informants to cause US to hit civilian targets; it's the trauma from constant gun and bomb attacks, constant treat that at and second of any day you, your brother, or civilians could be killed; it's the stress of taliban forces blowing up a massive crowd of pp then blame the US and for ignorant ppl in the rest of the world just assuming these false claims are true even in the US ppl wrongly criticizing vets of murdering civilians because they heard or saw some fake report or ignorant ppl thinking just because US was there and ppl die means all deaths are US vets fault even when it's Afghanis and Iraqis killing each other... again only a tiny tiny fraction of soldiers go "rouge" due to all the stresses mentioned and as such go on unjust rampages then later have regrets... Even pre war soldiers and soon to become solder had some level of trauma do to witnessing all the atrocities occurring and had occurred in those nation thus why we went in

soldiers would not just watch while a child get bombs strapped to it and sent on its merry way, they'd haven taken out the taliban soldier b4 the bomb got anywhere near the child.
its the stress of informants giving wrong reports, or taliban spys pretending to be informants to cause US to hit civilian targets.....they are NEVER going 2 hit ANY target based solely on the word of informants/spys.
it's the stress of taliban forces blowing up a massive crowd of pp then blame the US and for ignorant ppl in the rest of the world just assuming these false claims are true.... well i have personally seen video footage in leaked files published by wikileaks of 2 separate incidents when multiple civilians were purposely shot from helicopters.
iv also seen an interview of the father of marine that had served 2 tours in iraq and commited suicide bk home...he'd told his dad some of the things they were ordered to do out there. for example...soldiers on patrol come across 2 small, terrified and obviously starving children, alone. picking tadpoles from a dirty puddle to eat. they reported to superior and awaited instruction.....order came back to shoot them.

It’s doesn’t what kind of medical issues these veterans has. They should be aproved and taken off for the rest of their life. For god sakes. They did enough for giving their life for us. It’s not just physically but mentally these men and women veterans are suffering and the government can’t just ignored that.
And do not forget the atrocities and murders committed by some Australian Special Forces soldiers who were feted as heroes back in Australia.
30,000 Veterans suicide is bad yes but what about a million Iraqis?

Why TF are we worried bout other foreign people when we have our VETERANS to worry but, we need to attend to our veterans first cuz they just got bak from a 20 year war.
Our forces WON BUT POLITICIANS LOST

It is rife with propaganda start to finish; it is utter disturbing and an insult to intelligence

Nothing angers me more then the fact that we just gave that country back to the terrorists all the guy’s we lost over there died for nothing once we pulled out Rest In Peace

This was very informative, thanks for sharing this information.
"Soldiers are sad and short stories "
I see Russian Propaganda about USA really worked on you
Though the war on Terror was supposed to get the bad guys and then nation build Iraq and Afghanistan as typical western server states opposed to ' terror's.
I watched Vietnam kill my uncle 40 years after he left the war. He suffered poisoning from agent orange, like many others do. It only took 6 months from diagnosis for him to loose 100 pounds from all the cancers. He only did what was expected of him. It is so unfortunate that all this hate has been created or brought to the surface. I believe we need our militias to keep our government in check, but not to spread hate on other nationalities.
Go search with this string --> Agent Orange + birth defect + Vietnam. Just the thumbnails alone will make anyone throw up.
Your uncle was a rather unfortunate collateral.
You stated, " I believe we need our militias to keep our government in check, but not to spread hate on other nationalities." But do you know that marc rubio was ranting to impeach/court martial General Milley for having stopped two imminent wars and save the US from Donald, the Groper?
This video is sheer propaganda at every single turn; this should be obvious to any sane person but if your just ignorant I highly recommend actually studying all matters fully and in proper context as this video it utterly sickening and is wrongly and falsely bashing vets at every turn
I believe it’s time for the US military to turn on its own government, they are out of control and the biggest single threat to global peace today.

my question to you is, was the US under attack?
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 to my understanding we have only ever been attacked on 9/11 and at pearl harbor so my answer is no. I'd like to think we kind of "police the world" and help those that really need it. But I would be a fool to believe that. War exist for control and power and to make the rich richer. The men and women who serve in the US military, I believe do it for all the right reasons. Unfortunately they are used, like the Russians military to protect the interest of those in charge meaning they die in vain.

In my opinion,Iraq war was unnecessary, but Afghan war was necessary, at least until Osama bin Laden was killed. What other option US had post 9/11 when Taliban refused to handover Osama bin Laden ? I would go further and say that instead of Iraq war, US should have tried surgical missions within Pakistan based on intelligence information, like they did when they killed Osama bin Laden.
Wars are not pretty. But sometimes, they are necessary for national security. Other times, they are Warlords' business...
The Taliban didn't refuse to hand over UBL. The USA has repeatedly and conveniently set aside its reputation as a country of laws in its efforts to steal resources it has been unable or unwilling to obtain through normal trade.
Afghanistan sits atop vast arrays of mineral and energy resources and more than a few countries have been festering to extract them on the cheap since long before WWII.
I feel some compassion for folks who believe wholeheartedly that the US is what it claims it is, an exemplary state to be emulated. It isn't. It is ruled in the same manner all countries and large populations have been for the last ten millennia, wherein a small group of thieving psychopaths manage to gin up some plausible fairy tales to convince the majority of their subjects to look the other way while they(the so-called elites)pick everyone's pockets through elaborate schemes like scapegoating other countries for domestic troubles to justify resource theft that largely benefits those elites.
Don't take my word for this.
