It's a fun movie, bringed back an old concept from classic horror cinema, the mad scientist, and mixed with the popular genre of that time, zombies, but did not take it seriously and added some humor and crazy stuff, still today is an entertaining movie
Re-Animator is amazing! Outstanding! Wonderful! Fantastic! Brilliantly Magnificent! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! One of my favorite films of all time!! Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, David Gale and ESPECIALLY Jeffrey Combs were OUTSTANDING in their roles!! Every minute is memorable and never boring! The gore is sick and awesome! The music is " 😚🤌" Awww!! I can gosh all over this movie forever!!! If you're a horror fan and haven't seen Re-Animator, WATCH IT NOW!!! You're missing one of the greatest films ever made! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Thanks for reviewing my movie guys! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thankyou lads you kicked off this Halloween season with a bang! I love this movie, I'm so surprised Iain hadn't seen it before, but it's also cool on the other hand, I'm glad you both enjoyed it keep the awesomeness coming 👊.
Iain needs to give the Splatterhouse remake a playthrough, if he can find it. There is sooooo much re-animator in that game. I know it got panned by the critics but its one of my favorite beatemups. And god damn this has been a great week for you two. First Return of the Living Dead pt. III and now re-animator? Youre spoiling us!!!!
I just watched this movie for the first time a week ago and the first thing I did was look up “Re-Animator Off the Shelf Reviews” but there wasn’t one.. it feels like I manifested this review into existence!
Watching the review I noticed a few things I never did when I watched the movie, Cains place is 666 Darkmore and when West puts his shoes back on in the moruge, he puts the sock OVER the toe tag, made me chuckle. Also there is a Evil Dead vs Re-animator comic from the mid to late 00's if I recall.
Dang I was sure you did this already. This is one of the best unfaithful adaptations ever, and From Beyond I think is a great example of a faithful but expanded adaptation of Lovecraft’s work. Both bonafide classics. .
Odd thing about this film. The R-rated version cuts down on the gore and has more plot and character development. Most notably showing Dr. Hill's Svengali abilities. I would be nice if a complete cut were available.
The King in Yellow was written by Robert W. Chambers, not H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft only mentioned elements of it in passing in one story. Namely Hastur and Lake of Hali in "The Whisperer in Darkness" But it was the hack Derleth who waited until Chambers, Lovecraft (and Ambrose Bierce by default) died and just decided: weeeell, all of these things are now mine, because I can't write myself.
It's weird you haven't done this one before now. Such an excellent film! First saw this one on uncut import VHS from the Netherlands back in the early 90s.
There was a comic book crossover between Evil Dead and Re-Animator. Think it might have been Dynamite who released it. Of course Freddy vs Jason vs Ash needs to be read too
Guys if you get the limited edition Arrow Blu Ray it contains the Intergal cut of the film which has all the subplot stuff with Dr hill and while it makes the film longer I do like it better than the theatrical cut.
The thing with Dr. Gruber is cleared up in the novelization, Gruber has been helping West with the serum, and willingly kills himself to be a test subject😅 Yeah...
The only movie that actually made me puke! Fun fact: At the movie premier the actor playing Doctor Hill got a slap across the chops from his wife for the scene where he er...heads (pun) south.
I normally save your videos as workout videos but I'm watching this one. Until recently, horror hasn't really been my thing, whenever it was horror it tended to be Sci-fi stuff like Alien and The The Thing. Last year I watched a bunch of horror movies, starting from 1980 and roughly jumping 5 years each time, this was one of the ones I chose. I tried to choose a mix of tones and I really enjoyed it. This has a real comedy edge to it and I really enjoyed it. Jeffrey Combs is fantastic, I mostly know him from Star Trek, Babylon 5 and he was really good in The 4400.
I also watched it "later" in my life, I can completely understand Ian, especially from someone that as a kid had the whole H.P.L. bibliography! P.S. West is textbook "end justifies means" evil. He's evil, no debate.
Oh man!! Yall are the best!!! I have had the most shit day ever. Then I see this! Shelfers! Go to patreon.com and support these guys. I usually don’t plug channels but - these dudes been consistently awesome for like a decade. Dedication like that… It’s worth 5 bucks a month. My opinion anyway.
When you see Jeffrey Combs in Star Trek Enterprise, and he was great in that show and you think that he was in Re-Animator you just think what... Great actor.
You guys really need to do From Beyond too. Same crew and director, many of the same stars, and another Lovecraft adaptation.

and a lot more of Barbara Crampton 😍
@@OffTheShelfReviewsAwesomesauce! You did it! 😎🤘
That’s a great idea.

EASILY one of my all-time favourite horror classics! I always watch it as part of a double-bill with the Italian schlock-fest DEMONS! 😂

Awesome review as always guys! 👊👊 Kicking off Halloween with a stone cold classic.

How Richard Band never got sued from the Bernard Herrman estate is beyond me !
Who else revisits the classics covered by the boys? My favourite to go back tob so far is the Thing review/Aliens/Misery ahh to many so good
For sure.
All the those you mentioned are fantastic.
Likewise the Hellraiser reviews.
All fantastic.

"The Doors" knew it already in 1967: "The west is the best."
Great review guys! Thanx! 👍 making something of H.P Lovecraft, will always turn into something totally crazy! 😆 the scene with the cat...omg! 😆
Great video guys! ❤ I hope In The Company of Wolves, The Stuff and more recent The Substance it was awesome!

And "get a job at a sideshow" is a reference to the original short stories.

One of my all time favourites! 😁

Wow, @MovieDumpster just covered Re-Animator last week. Great timing!
Yes HP rewrote Frankenstein, I have the story in 2-3 HP anthologies and maybe a copy of "Weird Tales" . This movie and From Beyond are good cult,
My sweet childhood❤
Who wants Head?
Who needs Head?
Herbert West my favorite little pookie freak weirdo character. Love this movie and this review!!
The thing with Dr. Gruber is cleared up in the novelization, Gruber has been helping West with the serum, and willingly kills himself to be a test subject😅 Yeah...
I watched this with trepidation as I hate it if you guys dont like my favourite movies. Really glad you like this one, it is a fave of mine :)
Those tentacles are intestines lads.
Dudes will watch this and say „fuck yessss!!!“ awesome Review, lads!!!
OTSR 👊👊
The only movie that actually made me puke!

Maybe follow with one of my fav's The Man With Two Brains.

Iain, I am shocked that you hadn't seen "Re-Animator" before. So shocked infact, that I've asked RJ Macready to fly off to the Antarctic without you.
🤣🤣 apologies lol I've seen it now 😂👊👊🤘

I saw this when I was 13. I thought it was dark and fascinating. But also, I should NOT have been seeing this at 13!!
I also watched it "later" in my life, I can completely understand Ian, especially from someone that as a kid had the whole H.P.L. bibliography!
P.S. West is textbook "end justifies means" evil. He's evil, no debate.
Please do a review of the final girls 2015
Dr. Carl Hills actor is 2004 Democratic Party's nominee John Kerry
An upload on a Tuesday evening, not a Thursday morning. WTF is going on?! lol
The blonde girlfriend was gorgeous

Great taste! One of my favorite bands ever.
LFG!
Although I enjoy this movie, the SA scene is still disturbing. Even a censored version is uncomfortable.
When you see Jeffrey Combs in Star Trek Enterprise, and he was great in that show and you think that he was in Re-Animator you just think what... Great actor.
Y'all are the last two person in the world to see this classic. LOL
Uaarrgh!!!
Kevin Spacey recommended this one to me.
Cant wait for Alien Romulus review. I hope yall liked it as much as i did.
They will review it in 2027
