Chris Cornell performs "When I'm Down" from his album "Euphoria Morning" at LA's historic Troubadour Club on January 29 2010. Видеоклипы
This is the first place I'd go if time-travel existed ...
What you just said is so heart breaking . I have never found so much pure love and admiration in people as for Chris... he simply touched the soul of everybody.
Yes.
Indeed. This and Woodstock Jimi. I would give a limb. Seriously. Luv u brother!
It was definitely on my top 10
I'd be there without hesitation 🖤🖤🖤! God I Miss You!!! Loud Love Forever
Goosebumps, tears.. Really miss Chris Cornell, true genius
That man's voice is from the Gods... Period....
Only one man who create this and the result is Chris Cornell r.i.p I hope he's up there jammin with the angels
I couldn't agree more. He was and will always be the greatest ever!
I think I listened to this a 1000 times.. nothing hits harder.. I miss Chris
Yep, I’m back again and miss him too
No one sings like you anymore.
An accurate understatement
😔
Vdd!
No one ever did
You can say that again. I'm down all the time ......RIP .
History's best rock vocalist.
Well, he was fantastic, but..... then there was Freddy. Maybe, 2nd best.
Freddie was a mostly studio creation with his multi tracked vocals. Chris basically only used a little reverb.
So you haven't seen any live performance of Freddy...
Freddy Mercury > Chris Cornell > Steve Lee
Love them all.
It's "Freddie" dammit!!! and he was awesome, but Chris was in a class all his own.
Brother , you have no idea of what you are talking about .
A Masterclass in vocal ability, no one can argue with that!
He’s bring that emotion.
Fkn aye
@@Cherno4625 you're asking definitely for too much bud. Half of his talent would fill up a dozen of nowadays "artists" and they would be cherished like gods in present standards.
Kinda glad he checked-out before resorting to singing disney soundtracks and such .
even axl rose said the Chris is the greatest singer of all time.
I can't believe 96 people gave this a thumbs down. The man sang like an angel and this was one of his best performances. How do you not like it?
Man f those people. Everything he did was magical and we were blessed to have him and those blessings continue through his voice no matter what he is singing
♥️🎼🌟👏🏽🙏🏽
Maybe they had covid so they lost taste
Haters gonna hate bro!
Haters they every where everything he did WAS MAGICAL
I envy anyone who was blessed to be able to see Chris Cornell live. Long live the soul of Chris Cornell, you are missed.
3 times... the best memories of my life. So much so that I got his signature tattooed on me a few weeks ago. RIP.
@@monicab7533 You have been so blessed dear Monica.
Just got to see him once with Audioslave. I wish it was more, but grateful I got to see him live at least once. THE GOAT for me
7 times. One TOTD Three SG Three CC
Very blessed- seen him solo 3 times. Always very moving.
His vocal range and raw power was always insane, but people don't give him enough credit for how amazing of SINGER he was. Chris could sing anything, his covers always end up being better than the originals it seems.
THIS IS NOT A COVER. HAHA
Right On top of all the raw ability, he was a once in lifetime creative songwriting force of nature
He doesn't get enough credit as a songwriter. Soundgarden, temple, solo, audio...et al.
😂 literally everyone has acknowledged his voice...
@@Broken_Trojan do you know the difference between singing ability/technique and voice?
I used to get happy watching these videos. Now they make me sad. I miss him like an old friend
i understand.. i feel the same!
It’s still very Catch-22 with me. I appreciated him so much alive and yet it’s possible even more after he’s gone...
Me too
Feel the same
Me too!!
I can't begin to describe how epic Chris' voice is in this song. I've heard him crank out amazing vocals live. I've heard him live with Audioslave, solo concerts and his songbook series, but this song is the first time I've heard him with piano and it progresses into one of the most incredible perfomances of his career to date.
e31arenas Amen. Nobody could say it better than you just did. Amen Amen Amen!!!
yea I really think this is the only time I've heard him over a piano besides the version of misery chain with joy Williams? can anyone think of any others?
@@CME1124 He did Black Hole Sun and Higher Truth live with piano too, they're easy to find
His voice has blown me away in thr past but after seeing this video I'm in shock
Never saw him live unfortunately but I absolutely love this performance!
Jesus Christ, what a voice.
What we lost....
The blues…. The real blues… sung by the greatest voice of our time… do we realize how privileged we are? I don’t think even Chris understood how brilliant he was.
I think he did and thought ... "thats easy, Is that all there is?? because I dont feel happy"
and I felt really sad typing that and if he thought that what do the rest of us feel?
fuck! this just kills me watching this. what a tremendous loss.
The first time I saw him sing, it was in a video. I thought 'Looks like Jesus, sings like God.'. I was blessed to see him 4 times live. When I talk to people there is still
a strong outpouring of love for him.
Always
Great description of Chris 😉
I say the same si like watch jesus sing
Fact♥️🎼🙏🏽
"When I'm Down"
What say you now?
The door is, opening
On your vigil
And I'm in my usual way
I'll save my breath, knowing
What you're wanting me to say
"I only love you, when I'm down"
You say that midnight
Opens it's song for me
Leaving you alone
And then I fly so far away
Until the light blurs my vision
And I have nowhere to roam
I only love you when I'm down
[Chorus:]
And I only love you when I'm down
And I'm only near you when I'm gone
But one thing for you to keep in mind, you know
That I'm down, all the time
All the time
[Bridge]
I know you're reaching out
And you need to feel my hand
You wanna be understood
Yeah, well I understand
I know you hold
Precious little hope for me
And in your happiness
I'm always drowning in my grief
Not even sorry for belting this one out loud along with him... My poor neighbors !
Lauren Liz2900 What a great performance. Farewell Chris. So sad that you're gone.
Lauren Liz2900 LET IT OUT ANGEL, THEY WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT, GODBLESS
Lauren Liz2900 It's all good... they were singling along with you. I can't help but sing along with Chris's music. It's difficult not to join in.
AudioGardenSlave actually that's what's bitter sweat if you want to sing is right it's too hard
Yeah, I can't exactly stop myself either. The fucking song is just too damn good, especially if your pipes are a little rusty.
Dennis Hamm on piano btw. Should be mentioned as well.
Cant get over the fact you're no longer in this world. RIP
Absolutely. Sometimes I see pictures of him or listen to Soundgarden/Audioslave/Chris himself and it suddenly strikes me that he's gone....And I'm like "That can't be true wtf" .... what a tragedy, man, what a tragedy................
No one sings like you anymore. 💔
Most people who have never sung a note dont get the uniqueness of this voice..how difficult is to get anywhere near the pitch and power of his voice..even if you cant sing for shit just try it out and see how your chords feel after one song..I cant believe he is still doing it spot on..amazing
He had an amazing range and that's what makes him stand out.
He was the best, there's no match.
My favorite singer these days is MJK, he's amazingly emotive but it's in a way also filling a void, anytime I go back to a Cornell performance I'm remembered of that.
@@withmygoodeyeclosed Maynard James Keenan?
Absolute perfection. These lyrics, that voice- the man was otherworldly.
I love Euphoria Morning. And THIS gem, this beautiful, bluesy gem.....Oh damn this is good.
Such an underrated album!
Dave Trachtenberg higher truth even more underrated
Totally agree. Euphoria morning is in my top 5 all time favourite album list. And along with Steel Rain, this song truly is the gem.
Such a great album.
one of his best ,the GOAT i mean 👊
I must have listened to this track like a million times and never get tired of it
I was at this show! One of the best ever! Awesome memories from this night! Long live the legend Chris Cornell!
Lucky you!!!
Wow! That would have been great. He sounded amazing that night. I saw them in 91 twice, 92 and then 97. Was supposed to go to the last tour but we know what happened. RIP Chris. The GOAT
Well, I was at his LAST show in Detroit, and sadly, he sounded nothing like he did here!
You are so lucky to have this as a memory. He's the greatest singer EVER PERIOD.
@@debbassgirl586 Honestly I noticed he was off back at the time of the audioslave reunion show, but thought it was a one-off, off night then saw his eyes during some of the Temple of the Dog tour shows, knew he was using something again, and I was worried about him. When I saw the footage from that last performance night you could tell his timing was off vocally on the phrasing in parts, not in being spontaneous and live, but just legitimately off time. Very sad to see happen to someone so brilliantly talented.
Since Chris died I have been down all the time - he was a glorious spark in a dark world.
Absolute masterpiece. I had to comment, because this performance is criminally under-viewed. It’s one of the best pieces of songwriting and best performances of all time. He is so dearly missed.
This song is incredibly lovely in a million ways. NO ONE sings or writes like you, Chris. One of the VERY best.
Outshined, When I'm Down, You Know My Name, Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart. Hard to find four more stylistically different songs, and even harder to find a songwriter who can master each of those styles. One in a million.
OMG ... You NAILED it!☮️💕💜
1 in 8 billion.
A whole lot closer to One and Only than 1 in a million.
Hunger strike amazing vocals 🎵
Daily i miss him, and daily come here and listen to this amazing performance of Chris. Thumbs up to Dennis at piano by the way.
he left it all up there on the stage.
Compared to the other versions I’ve heard him do, from all the different years and places he sang this…this one, IMO, is the absolute best!!
Agree!
That first, "ALLLL THE TIIIIME" has every attribute maxed out. Like creating your own player on Madden and maxing out every stat. Max power, soul, finesse, emotion, appropriate tone, breath control.... Gives me chills every time.
This song is by far the best song on Euphoria Morning. Mostly owed to the fact that it's probably the most emotionally honest song he's ever allowed the public to hear.
His voice may be awesome most of the time, but this goes to show a form of pain and generosity rarely seen in rock music. Reminds me 100% of me and I'm sure many other whom shelter their emotions!
Thank you Chris for being the emotional voice to the reclusive heart. :)
What a honour to play piano for Chris Cornell
The only voice that gives me chills. What a loss!
When I go to heaven I hope to see Chris there petting my dogs ,cats and other animals I've lost and missed. When I see this, I know I'm home !
Dear lord! ...sound of a pure god 🖤
This is my go to CC performance. It hits my heart…..
The greatest voice of a generation, now silenced forever. RIP Chris.
Never silenced, his voice is immortal.
Never silenced, unless we allow it. Will never happen. 🥰
I'm just so afraid he's not at peace. What if that's the case and how do we settle ourselves without his energy in a world like this? I'm afraid.
@@jilljones7676 agree
I always loved blues, i love songs in 6/8, and i love when people perform from the most raw/ vulnerable part of their soul. This man God-tiered all of those and then some. RIP, Mr. Goat.
love him forever and ever
He looks, and seriously, he sounds exactly as he did during his prime. Which isn't over really!
"You wanna be understood? Well I understand...
I know you hold, precious little hope for me
And in your happiness, I'm always drowning in my grief"
:( This is one of my favorite albums of all time. So blessed to have met you. Your words mean so much to me. I will never forget you!
So much emotional investment in this performance…. Love it!!!
I'm 70. And I know that I would never see Chris my age. Old. Bald. Frail. Methinks he got out of this orb at just the right time. REST IN POWER, my prince
never believe that, he had more to give when he went in another direction like this ... he had more directions to go IMO.
No one had the voice and the heart to meet the range and power of the human soul
Soul of the man meets soul of musical mastery
If I had his voice, I would never speak again.
I would sing everything I had to say.
forgot to add, this was the song for the first dance at my wedding many years ago
💚💚💚
That is gorgeous! Lovely comment to read. Positive Energy to You and Yours.
This man was on fire. All the time. In sadness and joy. In sickness and health. astonishingly he became more than 27 years old. Thank god!
A true American Idol...
It's now far too long that we all address depression on a serious level for the sake of humanity. Suicides, mass murders, et al. We need to address our mental states... we can't keep suffering these unknown losses. It hurts so much, for the art that keeps us alive as a species, brought forth from within the same electron fires that burn us from within, there must be an understanding met to precipitate those suffocating clouds of doubt that flow through our hearts. Thank you for everything Chris. We will love you forever and ever.
People will never change. Human being is rotten from the begging of ages.
"I know you hold precious little hope for me" My favorite line. Love Chris, ALWAYS.
I can listen to this a million times.
Wow... I've watched this vid 10 BILLION times, and am just NOW noticing that Jeff Buckley's PHONE is sitting to Mr. Cornell's left. R.I.P. to BOTH inimitable muso wizards.
❤😭❤😭❤
He was the greatest rosk-singer since Robert Plant. For sure.
He gives me the chills when he starts "screaming"
Man he was in the voice that night. Unbelievable voice.
That man on the keys was perfect .
Pure soul pouring out in liquid fire. A fallen angel, struggling to find the right place in this world.
He's home now.
You were the best singer. You were one of a kind. R.I.P Chris Cornell.
So much emotion… CC is really missed.
I love Euphoria Morning, what a masterpiece it is.❤️
goosebumps
Seanyboy Seanyboy same
There are no words! Okay, I lied. Remarkable!
His voice has always and will always give me chills. R.I.P. Christopher John Cornell.
Chris you are just a MAESTRO.....thanks for singing to the world.
For me...
... this was his *masterpiece.*
You will never leave my playlist.
Well said! I came to comment the same!
NO-one before....
NO-one after......
has a voice like yours- 🥀
Mother F’ing perfection!!!
For me, one of the top 5 live Chris Cornell performances.
97 vocalists are REALLY jealous after seeing this...
Cornell, Vedder, Patton, Staley, Cobain .... Thank you very much ... I have 30 and I still feel like a teenager in the 90's when I hear their voices ... I will stop listening to them when I die ...
This song gets me every time 😢
crying...
when he's on, he's on
no one sings like you anymore... or ever will.
You were the best Chris. Hands down. And you are missed beyond belief.
I can't believe he's gone. Music brought me out of depression.
Six years since the most amazing voice ever on the planet was silenced. It's hard to believe that I got to witness him live so many times and that I was front and center for this performance. It doesn't seem real now. But thankful for those days and sad for the ones we won't get to have with him.
I envy you! This performance blows my mind every time I watch it.
It's not fair.. I'm never ever going to be OK that you're not here chris 😢
Thank GOD someone hit record.
Best of the Best
this was one of the best shows I've ever attended - you were in a class by yourself. crappiest.day.ever.
The MAN is singing! Nothing to add ...
Not sure when will I be ready to listen this withouth crying..😢
#loudlove🖤
I try to come and listen to this at least once a week and I still can't get through it without completely falling apart.
This song! That voice! Just beautiful......lyrics are so moving, combined with Chris's amazing voice, it rips my heart out and gives me goosebumps all at the same time. RIP Chris Cornell - your talent and voice will be missed and never duplicated.
OMG. This song. I worshipped this man. I’ve always loved you, Chris. Since your death, though, I only love you when I’m down.... 💔
Man I miss this guy
I miss you Chris Cornell, I miss you always.
fucking hell. blown away, my favourite song sung live by the master. i now feel like ive lived
4 years and no one was able to sing so beautifully and move us like you C.C. We miss you
I cannot explain why I never saw this man live. What a shame.
Seeing Chris sing this song live gave me that same feeling i got when I saw Ray Charles.. This song is incredible.
Did Ray Charles see u?
It's absolutely unbelievable how amazing and incredible Chris is...
Chris sings right from his soul. What a beautiful man. He is very missed & loved.
i can feel this song everywhere in every part of my body. bless his fucking soul. EDUCATE YOURSELF. this beautiful soul did not take his own life!!!!
No one sings like you anymore. 👏🏾
Nobody better. He has more heart and soul in his voice than anyone.
Pure soul. Chris was an angel. We were blessed to have him here with us for the blink of an eye.
Well said....
So sad that Chris is no longer here, his voice is out of this world
I'm so emotional with this old comments
This crushes me as does the news this morning. RIP Chris
