I disagree with the punctuality thing. As a German, we are, at large, still pretty much obsessed with punctuality and for the very same reason you mentioned about noise. If there is a meeting at 3 and you are late, you are inconveniencing everyone attending the meeting wither because they have to start late or because there is commotion in the middle of proceedings. Of course, there may be good reasons for being late (recently mostly related to the punctuality or lack thereof of public transportation), but I and MANY others do plan ahead for these things. Like, when I need to be at the university where I teach and have to be there by 8.15, I will leave my house at 7 despite me only taking 20 minutes to get there under ideal conditions, just to be on the safe side in case there is congested traffic on the Autobahn due to an accident or due to a construction site… Once, I myself had an accident on the Autobahn on the way to work in the morning in the dead of winter and despite the police coming, escorting me and my totaled car to a safe place AND then even taking me to campus, I was in time for my first class! I hate it also, when students come into class half an hour late acting rather laissez faire about it…
The point about greenery is something I immediately noticed too when I visited family in germany last year.I came from New Zealand and was expecting it to be far less like home, but the nature and bushwalks culture felt very welcoming and familiar

6:00 Eh. There is "expected to be on time", and "expected to not be half an hour late on principle". It's not as though everyone in Germany is always five minutes on the dot early to the pub crawl. However, if you have a party at your home, you expect people to more-or-less appear by the stated time. There are many cultures where the stated time is understood to be read as ten minutes to half an hour later. for social gatherings. Also, if you come in fifteen minutes late on a blind date, chances are your prospective partner does at least have a negative impression of you because you don't take them or their time seriously.
As one of the 12,6% I find those Dos and Don'ts very on point. I mean, obviously you don't cross the red light and yes I've been late before. But honestly, I find myself in all of these Dos and Don'ts.

I teach German privately and my students tell me all the time that Germans are also very happy when someone TRIES to speak their language. Even if it’s a couple of words, maybe they aren’t happy if someone doesn’t even try? Idk
take it with a grain of salt, but from my experience a lot of older people (i guess around 45+ years old) and people from more rural areas tend to not speak English (or any other language) very well (they generally don't think learning English even in school is worth the effort or not necessary in their everyday life), so a decent amount of them (especially the boomers) openly show their annoyance, when they have to accommodate for non-German-speakers during a conversation. furthermore there is a sort of pride in being able to speak German, because it is regarded as relatively difficult (there is a common phrase "deutsche Sprache; schwere Sprache." = "German language; difficult language"), so they might see the language English as inferior to German some people also view speaking German non-fluently as being dumb/intellectually inferior; for example I witnessed multiple times how condescendingly some people talked about an Arabian colleague behind their back despite them speaking 4 languages at least on a practical level and studying law at university before they had to move to Germany. That being said, a lot of younger people speak English pretty well or if they aren't confident in English will be friendly about it and try to help :)
i would like to add that earlier generations from eastern germany had to learn russian and not english. All in all, I can also understand why Germans are often annoyed if you don't even try to speak German. There are places (I live in one of these places) where the majority on the street can hardly speak German or English.
In Bavaria they were quite kind to me when I tried to speak German, even though I spoke like I was three years old. Maybe it was because they wanted me to spend more money. Either way, lovely people.
12:50 My German is very very basic but while passing through Germany by bus I used it to order some food at a coffee shop (while the rest of the group spoke English to the girl at the counter). Her attitude towards me was very different (in a positive way) compared to the others. So yeah, Germans might refuse speaking English to you although many speak it fluently.
As a german i think that most germans would have zero problems answering and talking to you in english. Also its surprising that many dont know this but lots of adults over the age of like 50-55 simply never learned english bcs it wasnt taught in their schools and social media wasnt around yet to teach them passively. Btw i cant speak for everyone here but I answer in the language the question was asked. Means if someone tries talking to me in german i will answer in german and if that person doesnt understand me fluently enough i swap to english
as an American who works in construction. if i ever get a call in the middle of the night I'm always available to help. because it usually means two things, someone has Died on the job, or someone got hurt. At that point I'm one of the few people who can get wheels greased and things moving for the people involved. I can count on one hand how many times I've been called with useless calls in the middle of the night. over the past 15 yrs I've maybe gotten 2-3 calls that didn't pertain to me. even then I try to help anyone I can.
As a German the first thing shouldn't be shaking hands. I never invite people to do so. It's unsanitary. The first thing should be to respect others and don't annoy people around you.
Im from Vienna visiting Berlin, instinctively says aufwieder schauen to every store clerk, I get the most wearded out looks cause the either think im a troglodyte or I wanna come back an see them again, still not shure witch one 😂😅

Brother I never knew that you were from Germany all this time that I have been a subscriber. Mind blown. I enjoyed your video and point of view because I recently moved to Germany and am still working to adapt and learn the customs. It has been a challenge, but the thing I enjoy the most is the lushness, as you mentioned, but the fact that crime is almost nonexistent here compared to the states and that the food served and purchased in grocery is fresher than what is being served and sold in the states.

He's quite progressive and chill as evidenced by many of the videos he makes + some parts of his serious videos where he has disclaimers showing his opinions on something so that he doesn't get mistaken as a bigot thru his dark humour. He just doesn't portray himself or act like a stereotypical liberal at first glance what with his crazy jokes and whatnot. I think that's cool. We should be more accepting of people that don't fit the mold of how a person from a certain political side should be.

I spend quite a lot of time in Germany between 2008 and 2010 visiting family. Mostly in NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen, but also some time in Berlin and München), I ABSOLUTELY loved it and it was a lot of adjustments. I am sure I broke plenty of rules though. I was told that I came off and sounded English or Canadian but my clothes peg me as American. I don't know how to take that to this day still.
I am from Greece, I used to travel with my parents throughout Europe with a camping car for the summer and Germany was usually the main region we'd go around. First of all it is common in Greece to pass by a friend's house and check with them or have a coffee (usually you pass by that house and you stop you don't go out of your way to get there) and it is common in other southern countries too. Nowadays people send a message or call but it's still common to ring the bell randomly. The nudist beaches are weird indeed, there are a lot of people that they just like being naked and sometimes they get naked in parks or random lakes they stop to take a dive, but yes there is a group of people that is there because they are sick. I had to learn that the hard way since when we started travelling I was 4 (up until 12, then the crisis came in). Still some of them are chill. Germans are rude af if you don't speak German and they don't even compare with French. French people get frustrated because they can't speak English most of the time, German people can speak perfect English and will get annoyed, you have come in their country and you can't even speak their language, that's how they think. It sucks especially for my sister that lives there for 8 years and sometimes the discussion gets too complicated for her to keep the discussion in German and switches and they get very frustrated when she does that, it's super frustrating seeing them getting that angry for something so simple. Honestly Germany is the first place I think when I'm thinking of vacations, but Germany is not even on my top 10 countries to live in out of choice. People can get very aggressive in general and some of them can get extra aggressive if they realise that you are not German. Work ethics are not great anymore (even though payment is still probably the best in the EU) and there are so many things that make life stressful with these many rules. I live in Finland the chillest and most laid back country in the EU and I can't stand the German mentality. Germans here are common and most of them agree that even though the weather is bad and the payment is not as good with much more expensive basic goods, the stressless life here is worth it. Edit:By the way all of this is in the spirit of complaining for the sake of complaining. Germany has been a great place and German people are part of the reason Germany is such a fond vacation destination for me. Also the states are vastly different from each other in many ways and that plays into your experience with German people as well.
@dercoco8074 it strongly depends on the state you are, but for north Rhine Westphalia that I had the most experience, they were surprisingly aggresive in public services and this state is popular for being diverse with lots of Africans and Asians. I haven't been much to eastern Germany nor in Holstein and Hamburg, but for my brief experience in Hamburg, they are more chill, i have a suspicion why they are more chill but I don't want to talk too negatively.
RANTON, RANTON, UBER ALLES! This man speaks 3 languages, can we get some praise in the comments people. Deutschland is a Beautiful country, can't wait to visit.
I need to say this 😂 I was in Berlin with my friend and we were at some bar having a beer and the waiter didn't want to come for a very long time so I had to walk up to him and ask for another round. He asked me what kind of beer I wanted so I showed him which because I didn't wanted to disrespect the language that I don't know, so he asked again and again and when I finally said it he told me that's not how I should pronounce the name of the beer because it's disrespectful and gave me a whole history lesson of the beer company and why is it called like that 😂 suuuuper uncomfortable 😂
My American dad and his American friends absolutely visit eachother randomly with no call. It’s mostly a “I happen to be in this area, let’s see if so and so is home” sort of thing and surprisingly it works out quite well most of the time

When i took a trip to germany last year, it was an absolute blast. I loved every second of it and already booked another flight this coming summer.
9:15 my friend's boss called him at 11pm while we were gaming on discord to remind him to bring a drill tomorrow for work, something he already knew but the boss just wanted to remind him.... in the middle of the night

Mal wieder ein sehr unterhaltsames Video! (:

I teach German privately and my students tell me all the time that Germans are also very happy when someone TRIES to speak their language. Even if it’s a couple of words, maybe they aren’t happy if someone doesn’t even try? Idk
da liegst du falsch
They only like it when people from Western Countries do it.
@xKamiiii stimmt gebrochenes Deutsch von Polen, Russen, Türken, Syrern etc. löst stets komplette Freude bei Deutschen aus.
take it with a grain of salt, but from my experience a lot of older people (i guess around 45+ years old) and people from more rural areas tend to not speak English (or any other language) very well (they generally don't think learning English even in school is worth the effort or not necessary in their everyday life), so a decent amount of them (especially the boomers) openly show their annoyance, when they have to accommodate for non-German-speakers during a conversation.
furthermore there is a sort of pride in being able to speak German, because it is regarded as relatively difficult (there is a common phrase "deutsche Sprache; schwere Sprache." = "German language; difficult language"), so they might see the language English as inferior to German
some people also view speaking German non-fluently as being dumb/intellectually inferior; for example I witnessed multiple times how condescendingly some people talked about an Arabian colleague behind their back despite them speaking 4 languages at least on a practical level and studying law at university before they had to move to Germany.

The German situation is crazy
Hey don't joke about it because some Germans think it is a sensitive topic and it might hurt their feelings.
Oh no! Anyway
Deutsche HASSEN diesen Trick... 😂
this channel is underrated

I can count on one hand how many times I've been called with useless calls in the middle of the night. over the past 15 yrs I've maybe gotten 2-3 calls that didn't pertain to me. even then I try to help anyone I can.
a blessed Rantoni daily upload , nice.
4:00 No car wide and bright 😂
As a German the first thing shouldn't be shaking hands. I never invite people to do so. It's unsanitary.
The first thing should be to respect others and don't annoy people around you.
Im from Vienna visiting Berlin, instinctively says aufwieder schauen to every store clerk, I get the most wearded out looks cause the either think im a troglodyte or I wanna come back an see them again, still not shure witch one 😂😅
try "schönen tag noch" or "schönen feierabend" 🤣
Or just come to Bavaria instead. We won't raise an eyebrow at your "Auf Wiederschauen", we'll say it right back or may even have said it first. Berliners are weird.
Going through my subscriptions list to check who I have subscribed to over the past few years if I want to still be subscribed and to find lost channels due to the algorithm. Checked your channel out to see if you were still active and why your page got buried in the algorithm and this was one of the first videos I noticed.

@@aaryanbhandari301 How tf do you watch Ranton and assume he's a right winger? He's quite progressive and chill as evidenced by many of the videos he makes + some parts of his serious videos where he has disclaimers showing his opinions on something so that he doesn't get mistaken as a bigot thru his dark humour. Japanese and Germans would be best friends.
I did not know that Germans were that aggressive
@dercoco8074 it strongly depends on the state you are, but for north Rhine Westphalia that I had the most experience, they were surprisingly aggresive in public services and this state is popular for being diverse with lots of Africans and Asians. I haven't been much to eastern Germany nor in Holstein and Hamburg, but for my brief experience in Hamburg, they are more chill, i have a suspicion why they are more chill but I don't want to talk too negatively.
Public service people aren't nice to germans as well 😉.
Why do I always find it so damn funny when you yell «Thomas!!!»

With so much love for rules, regulations and order , no wonder Germany and Japan had such an epic collab back in the 40's.
No very diffrent reason. Japan just wanted more colony´s. Just how they attacked german colonies around china in ww1 to take those over.
Because eventhought prussia (germany) modernzed japan, japan allied with england and so on in ww1.
And to call that an "epic" collab is just straight up evil... Japan and Nazi Germany killed so many innocent people...

You're technically 'always' wishing happy birthday to someone before their birthday, unless it's precisely on their birthday.
