I loved watching this program on TV every single day of the week and I can't remember missing out on one Show. It was so much better than the other Martial Arts stuff that was coming out all the time. They had good dialogue in the show with the things he would say that made you think about what he said.
" Grass Hopper, when you can walk the length of the rice paper without tearing it.... U will be ready to leave from here." And David Carradine was like a total different Actor in ( Kill Bill )❗

David carradine best actor of all time. I've been watching that man since the 70s and 80s probably be one of the best actors of all time. Good movie thank you very much I enjoyed it.
Watched kung fu as a kid. Watched the tv show every week, when I could sneak up to watch. 59 now, he always avoid the fight and had something prophetic to say. The first master. RIP.
David Carradine was the most talented actor closest to being his natural self to whichever martial arts character roles he played. A serious guy all through, both in the real and the reels.
Yes, indeed! David Carradine is such a Great Fighter and Actor! So natural! But here I can see and feel his maturity in Martial Arts. So gentle and strong!
David Caradine was a dancer. His Gung Fu he learned beside the Movies, you can see how he become more and mor lesson and learnd more in the serie of Movies.
The best martial arts film is the one that hasn't been produced. Where there are no clear innocent nor bad and where the opposing forces unite and avoid chaos and catastrophe to end violence. Martial art is at it's highest level when you are trained to de escalate, calm your willingness to harm others, to yield to other's instigation and intimidation, to never use those vulnerable turbulance against them. Harming, killing, being combative will only create hate and generations of revenge. The best mentors teach students to never see an enemy. We are entering an era where one power can obliterate the planet with one red button. It's time we produce films of that level of sophistication and teaches that nothing is beyond compassion. Tyranny will always be better organized and thus humanity lives in bloodshed 365 days a year. We spend billions to find other living intelligence in the vast universe and simultaniously spend trillions killing each other. Aliens in other galaxies are not going to come visit us again if all we do is to fuel hate, to justify killing to expand greed, further ruin our own possibility of survivor. That's the martial arts movie that will be historical and pivotal.
Intellectually explained.May everyone who has a skill in martial arts will extend humanity and well being, not hatred and competition that will lead to misunderstanding.
It's amazing how David Carradine keeps making movies long after he died in 2009. I went to his IMDB page to look up this movie, and it wasn't even listed. But, lots of movies listed AFTER he died. Must be that Kung Fu mojo!
My whole family never missed one episode an there was 9 kids and 2 adults. My mother use to think David Carradine was the Bomb. He was her favorite actor.
I wondered this, too, so that led me to the comments. I saw Daryl Hannah in the front credits and thought this might be Kill Bill Vol. 3, actually. But maybe autoerotic asphyxiation lets the body live on to keep doing movies? Like a golem.
I'm always chasing rainbows Watching clouds drifting by My schemes are just like all my dreams Ending in the sky Some fellows look and find the sunshine I always look and find the rain Some fellows make a winning some time I never even make a gain, believe me I'm always chasing rainbows Waiting to find a little bluebird in vain
Having Bruce Lee play that part would have been interesting. But would he have played Caine as well as Caradine? It’s debatable. In my own mind Caradine played that part so well, probably no one could have done it better. Notice I said probably. I’m leaving that question open.
it was about another movie with bruce lee in which the americans chose an american actor but when it comes to this particular one, david carradine did a masterful job
The storyline in this and indeed the first movie was that he was given sanctuary at the temple after his parents who were missionaries in China died and he was left an orphan. David Carradine could play that role. He is supported by a great ensemble of other actors. Unfortunately, even if the original plot was changed, Bruce Lee could not play the Caucasian. However, Bruce was a different kind of actor, imho, and was in many wonderful movies in which he was the star who stood out from the others.

As a young teen in the 70's I had a much older friend who guided me in the ways of Din Mak and the philosophy as well as other teachings. At the time i knew nothing of the art or the relevance of the style. It was not till i was much older before i ever herd the style mentioned again. I was focused mostly on kata's by my him. I only now mention it because after all these years i see a small part of one of the kata's performed in this movie. What i learned of it later in life was it was a myth. The myth i learned from was a small man in stature but a very powerful fast striker. In less than a year of my training i learned very little of the style. Again i see parts of the kata i learned at such a young age in this movie witch i have not seen before in other styles.
I grew up watching the TV series too and loved it. This movie is pretty stupid and so predictable. It really did the series wrong as well as David. Pure class c movie.

The original Kung Fu series lit off a cultural explosion in the US not seen since the Beatles. Thousands of new dojos sprung up within a few years, including the one I joined and the new one we all built together.

Not a bad movie, a bit lame but old Dave still has the moves :) Good acting all round. My 2 favourite kung fu movies are Jet Li's 'fearless' and the original Ip Man with Donnie Yen. Yen is so fast they had to ask him to slow down a bit for the camera's :D Unlike that fat slug Segal who now does his fight scenes sitting down, the only thing he's fighting is diabetes😆
