    He should be recognized as an American music legend. He's far too obscure to so much of the music world.

    • @allrain
      @allrain 8 лет назад +2

      Yeah. It could be worst, tho. He's got his fair share of high profile musicians singing his praises pretty much all the time: Billie Joe Armstrong and Ryan Adams, just to name a few..

    • @ustheserfs
      @ustheserfs 5 лет назад +6

      And he absolutely is to many of us. It hardly matters to me he isn't on the same mantle as Michael Stipe or Eddie Vedder. He's our champion.

      He's been too contrary and self-defeating. After the Replacements he had a huge solo deal and was poised to become a alt-music giant, but he suddenly decides to be a "traditional singer-songwriter" and churn out crap. Then in the early 00's he made a huge creative comeback, but it was too low-key to make a impact. Paul's problem is that he admits he's a terrible judge of his own work and can't discern between his best and worst work, but he doesn't want to listen to anyone else, either.
