Hey Sarah and Ryan I love what the both of you are doing to your new house I'm so happy to see the both of you enjoy working together as a couple keep on doing what you are doing because it seems to work for your marriage are you going to build pens and coop for your animals how are your young adults doing I hope everything is well with them I hope that Jehovah is watching over you all . Big Daddy T, Richmond Virginia
We are planning to get more animals once the build is done. Maybe convert our current shed into a larger coop for the chickens. We have lots of plans for once we are done building the house so stay tuned.
That was a major milestone. You got a lot done. I've seen drain pipes break before in cold weather. Hopefully afterr the next couple of videos We'll hear you've been approved to move in In the meantime stay warm and safe
Luckily we made it through without any breaks, and the temp below our house actually stayed above freezing the whole time. We closed up all the foundation vents to keep it as warm as possible.
You do need to wrap your drain pipes! Our washer drain pipe freezes every January when we have a few below zero days in a row because it’s on an outside wall. It was an experience to hear rapid flowing water in your bathroom and walk in to the washer draining and it pushing the water down the drain, hitting the ice, and then spray back up like a giaser across the room! And on top of it, it was dirty water!
I had that happen the other day. Ugh cleaning up dirty water with pet hair and human hair. Put RV anti freeze (the pink stuff)in drain between used while we continue with subzero temps!!!
Certainly making a lot of progress and looking great. Hard work pays off. For that ledge it would look good to put black there to match the trim in your ceiling.
I can’t wait to see it finished to the point of you all being able to enjoy it during a snowstorm, being inside, toasty warm. It’s looking really good! Glad you are insulating pipes and draining those outside faucets. Nothing is worse than busted pipes! Better to be safe than sorry. Odds and ends are good to cross off. The house is looking beautiful💕
YES ! Done ! It must feel good. I feel good just watching it. 😂Just railings and you can live there. Cool. What about finishing the walls around the windows outside ? Is there a problem of supplies ?
The outside around the windows is not required for certificate of occupancy. We’ll complete that once we have the front deck completed and we can set up the scaffolding on the deck. Otherwise, right now, we’d have to rent a man lift. Thats not worth the money at this point since it’s not required.
I live in western Washington in Stanwood and I had to get some heat tape for my pipes. Not really something we need every year but they saved me this year! My cold water froze and once I got the heat tape in they thawed out quickly. Didn’t have to worry about burst pipes. Also the tape has a thermostat so it’s not always running. Although I am going to unplug when not in use just for kicks!
Great job guys! I have a question about the short wall in your bedroom. If I remember correctly that was not in the original plans but was something you guys added, right? My question is will the space behind just be a void? I think you could use that space for cabinets by building in shelves behind and adding cabinet doors in front. It would be great for storage and would eliminate the void. Just a thought!
Good question. On the side our bed is going on we weren't going to add anything because our nightstands will cover that area. We will have an access door at the end that can access the whole space, plus we were considering putting the whole top on hinges. On the opposite side, we were planning to build in built in drawers and/or Shelves to provide extra storage. We need all we can get!
On your p traps Where are you have standing water you can put a product that is called heat trace with a thermostat and when the temperature drops down below 35 it’ll come on and keep the trap heated so will not freeze and then you will not have to run precious water
why do you not install a frost guard cable or heating system under your house? we have this in Norway, and it keeps my worry away only turning it on when needed. :D
Good question. I'll probably put a heater under our house for those really cold days in the future. I have a wifi thermomoter under the house so I could monitor the temps. Even on the coldest day it never got below freezing under the house, so we weren't too worried about the pipes freezing once we learned that.
They are all insulated now. We just knew that before the storm came, we hadn’t gotten to all of them yet, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that our crawl space actually stayed fairly warm throughout the below freezing temperatures
Det är synd att ni täcker kattvinden några luckor och ni har massor av förråds utrymmen exempel ett säkerhets skåp . Hur kallt hade ni ? själv så har vi haft en lite kylig temperatur här i Stockholm -22 C ,
For the cellar why not put a small electric heater that runs only if its less than 3 degrees celsius i hav e this in my own cellar when its been more than minus 20 C for a week. And the heater only nees to run for an hour a week
@@OneFootOfftheGrid Buy a greenhouse heater with a external thermostat then you don't need the hazzle to start and stop it like the Bio Green Pal 2.0 Electric Air Heater with Digital Thermostat then you can use it during the summer for a greenhouse
Woo hoo getting closer
Yes! This last stretch is feeling tough though. So many little things to tie together now. We will get there, but we are so ready to get moved in!

Einfach super Arbeit gemacht einfach Spitze Danke Gruss aus Germany und bleibt gesund 👏🏻👋🙂🙋♂️🇩🇪🤗👍
Love the cabin. You all are hard workers.

Yeah!! Almost there❤
Looking amazing guys.
Thank you.
You won't regret insulating the drain. I had a second floor drain freeze years ago, and it took a week to thaw.
It's those little things you do now that save you headache in the future. We are trying to do everything right. Thanks for supporting our channel Joe.
Can😂wait to see this beautiful house finished. And we get an awaited house tour, this would be so nice❤👍
We are probably more excited than you to give a house tour. Hopefully coming soon.
Hey it's 28 in Florida ,were cold too!!! great job on the build.
Thanks Steve. At least you weren't in the teens. We made it through though without any issues thank goodness.
Congratulations on finishing the main walls! 🎉🎉🎉
It feels great! Now on to buttoning up all the little walls that we left behind.

Like a black stained piece of plywood?
Well done
You could add non toxic rv anti freeze or windshield washer fluid to your p trap during severe cold spell
Thats a great idea. Ill pick some up so I have it on hand for the next storm.
always looks good.
And here I thought you were going to say you had time for a nap!😂❤
Maybe in a month or so...
Use Windshield Washer fluid in your traps when the water is going to be off for a while. Good Job
I used the pink RV anti freeze. Cheaper
Great tip! I'll get some for next time.
Thanks, I'll look into this as an option as well.
Its turning out so beautiful
You’re doing an excellent job..
Hi guys you are doing a great job ur house is looking well👍👍
Thank yo so much!
Way to go, you two.

Hopefully all the attention we are putting in now will pay off in the future.
It’s really looking amazing. You should be really proud of yourselves
Thank you. We are pretty excited but honestly after being at this for almost 3 years we are READY to move in. Hopefully very soon.
@@OneFootOfftheGrid it’s hard to believe it’s three years. I remember the first video you did on tick tok and I’ve been hooked since

I use some of the heat tape in our pump house, but maybe I shoudl concider putting some under the house as well. Cheap insurance.

Good advice. I'll look in to purchasing some of the heat tape and get it installed on the P-traps.
I sad for tree😢
Are you going to take the thing out behind the wall?
Do you plan on utilizing that lower space in you bedroom that you just put the boards on?
Yes, we are going to use one side for storage and the other size we are going to install built in drawers going all the way across.
@@OneFootOfftheGrid great idea 💡
pour some table salt in pee traps I had to do that to thaw them out before.
so many cheap things you can pour in pee traps..
