Women and men are confused by the meaning of Feminism. People have different opinions of the meaning. The basic idea is about empowering women as much as men. The problem is when some women take it more in terms of being a rebel. Like just oppose anything traditional. For instance trimming their hair and make it look short. Sure there is nothing wrong in trimming ones hair but if the reason is just to show it is "different" it's a stupid reason. In fact such acts undermine the the movement of women empowerment, which is more about giving equal opportunities to women no less than men. By making it an issue of haircuts and dressing ways, it trivialises the real issues women face.
What's wrong with women trimming their hair?? And if traditions are mysoginistic, then they must be opposed. I'm an Ex-Hindu Atheist😎, I support the entry of females between the age grp 10-50 in the Sabarimala temple of Kerala. I also argue that Muslim women should also have the right to visit their mosques and I would defentely extend my support if anybody protests for that. I oppose the denial of entry of women to both these places because I find it mysoginistic. So you see all these so called "traditions" are nothing but Patriarchical counstructs...😏So they must be opposed at any cost..😏 And if males can wear sleeveless shirts or shorts or any other revealing dress, then what's wrong when females wearing them??🙄?? It's not to prove any point or to seduce males, it's just for their comfort. It's a false notion that "women wear such dresses to seduce men or to prove that they're feminists"🤦♂️🤦♂️...It's their comfort ultimately. Not all women are comfortable in sarees or churidars, infact many women also says that shorts and sleevless dresses are more comfortable in a hot a country like India. And about the hair, not all women would be comfortable in maintaining a long hair, and no hairstyle is fixed for any genders.
@@madhupm9093 The problem is not in the hair style itself but the motivation behind it. If they are trimming it out of comfort its fine but if they are trimming it out of just the need to rebel or show off their inclination it's a silly reason. The fact that a large number of femanists, especially media anchors, trim their hair just indicates the latter inclination. If one has a specific mindset it should be shown in action that benefits people, just mere changing of getup is a silly thing. As far as your thought process of entering sabrimala or mosoques goes if its driven with the motivation to rebel then its silly, it there is a true inclination to satisfy some religious needs then its alright.

Sir as a feminist I totally stand with men who are falsely accused and I think there should be a law for it , I have been using my platform to create awareness about things happening to all the genders
Should use womanisn as coined by Alice walker The male gaze has been long used first used by Laura mulvey but it goes back to Foucault through the term gaze itself But today we have a 4th wave of feminism yet in Indian sight's it's still evolving as it draws elements from 3rd wave whic wealth with black issues like those of Modern writers who put in her works like Adiche or we can go back to writers like Toni Morrison Thank you NWL for this topic Looking forward to this content..
Actually, I don't think the waves apply to India or even Asia as a whole. The issues which are faced by Indian marginalized people are different and and dare I say more complex. We live in a society where my body my choice type of campaigns must share the stage with campaigns for female literacy. If we were to ignore the (what is considered western) radical feminism then Indian women and India may end up like Japan. Economical they do great. They have great tech advancements. But they also have issues with women's participation in the workforce, falling marriage rates and birth rates. Or like the problem in China with the whole leftover women thing and women faking their lifestyles to hook a rich man because that's the option society makes more convenient. I know sometimes some things, like protesting a dress code or female representation in media seems like a we're being silly when so many people are forcefully married/seperated and the rate of DV, rape and dowry deaths just doesn't seem to fall. But that we can and have to deal with these issues in a parallel fashion.
The whole issue of Indian feminism goes down to the structuralist society which has been in India for centuries and more since the Vedas I suppose And for the the dalit women it gets deeply worse ,the more further from the centre the more it gets bad . The traditional n conservative society in our country has fine tuned girl child from their younger age to know Thier responsibilities this they grow up in such environments where they become the subalterns whose plight ,only they would share leading but due to misrepresentation the curve does not happen. Angel in the house as said by Coventry ratmore used by Woolf talks about the issues of gender bias and cannon ,ours is a deeply conservative and patriarchal society where it's difficult for socially a female sex to disclose up but it can happen through diversified discourses which can be a vehicle to improve empower woman but first what is needed is the change in thought process of community -society and families to be out of the box Unless that happens the inequality will remain specially for women The MSM , newspaper's ,magazines , novels plays have also contributed to this cannon for a woman being an object to desire ,the simulacra of fitness cards showing woman in all her glory and men looking at her ,the Bollywood songs which men like the lyrics which usually see woman not as a human but as a prize These is so deeply rooted in the society Unless these changes ,the thought process of people ,the male gaze ,4th wave even has Body shamming Unless there's a deconstruction of this structure ,it would continue in India and specially the 3-4th world countries where we see most these happening.

Woah woah woah, that is absolute bs. The gaze that you talk about falls equally upon each individual which robs them off their subjectivity. There is no male-ness inherent in the gaze. I know you conceptualize the world as a perpetual struggle between the oppressed and the oppressors where the oppressors by nature are evil and the oppressed are innocent. So naturally you'd assign all the despicable characteristics to the oppressors, which may not be true. You assume Hegelian dialectics as the solution to historical progress, which also I may not be the Truth. It is Marxism in its cultural avatar and you know it. I realise the slight of hand, it is an intersectional movement of which feminism is just a sub component. What you essentially intend to do circle conservatives and trads from all around and beat the hell out of them, metaphorically speaking of course :P . Well, traditionalists somewhat deserve it, neo-trads even more so, but I do not accept the assumptions on which the intersectional ideology is based upon. There is a set of problems that need to be dealt with before we call it a perfect society, but I do not like the way you fight the battle. Only as far as equality of opportunity is concerned I am in absolute agreement with the feminist movement. Whatever shape the society takes after equal opportunity is provided must be accepted. I do not accept the idea that gender is a social construct, there are inherent differences between men and women. But that shouldn't be a barrier for anyone to do what one wants to do in life.
As a man I believe we men have a duty to protect women and accept their ideas, no matter how much we are prejudiced! We men are tougher that we think we are!

Gender neutral laws needed.
Women get a lot of advantage, leverage in a relationship due to biased laws in India.
Agree, people went from standing for their and others right
to harassing each other for their inconvenience with change.
So you see all these so called "traditions" are nothing but Patriarchical counstructs...😏So they must be opposed at any cost..😏
And if males can wear sleeveless shirts or shorts or any other revealing dress, then what's wrong when females wearing them??🙄??

Toh maternity leave bhi tujhe dede kya ab ?
Maternity is justified. That's not the problem. Problem is paternity leave is not given. That is bad
Should use womanisn as coined by Alice walker
The male gaze has been long used first used by Laura mulvey but it goes back to Foucault through the term gaze itself
But today we have a 4th wave of feminism yet in Indian sight's it's still evolving as it draws elements from 3rd wave whic wealth with black issues like those of Modern writers who put in her works like Adiche or we can go back to writers like Toni Morrison
Thank you NWL for this topic
Looking forward to this content..
I don't see any Fourth Wave of Feminism what I see is Fourth Wave of CORONA in the words of ARVIND KEJRIWAL JI
The whole issue of Indian feminism goes down to the structuralist society which has been in India for centuries and more since the Vedas I suppose
And for the the dalit women it gets deeply worse ,the more further from the centre the more it gets bad . The traditional n conservative society in our country has fine tuned girl child from their younger age to know Thier responsibilities this they grow up in such environments where they become the subalterns whose plight ,only they would share leading but due to misrepresentation the curve does not happen. Angel in the house as said by Coventry ratmore used by Woolf talks about the issues of gender bias and cannon ,ours is a deeply conservative and patriarchal society where it's difficult for socially a female sex to disclose up but it can happen through diversified discourses which can be a vehicle to improve empower woman but first what is needed is the change in thought process of community -society and families to be out of the box
Unless that happens the inequality will remain specially for women
The MSM , newspaper's ,magazines , novels plays have also contributed to this cannon for a woman being an object to desire ,the simulacra of fitness cards showing woman in all her glory and men looking at her ,the Bollywood songs which men like the lyrics which usually see woman not as a human but as a prize
These is so deeply rooted in the society
Unless these changes ,the thought process of people ,the male gaze ,4th wave even has Body shamming
Unless there's a deconstruction of this structure ,it would continue in India and specially the 3-4th world countries where we see most these happening.
@@ruezrocks Male gaze? How about you stop whining and stop false cases against men, that too are well documented!
