Hi, Davie,
Thank you for showing the used materials.
cant say thank you enough for your videos davie learned so much from you
Gorgeous and great tips for manipulating feather fibers. Thank You so much!
perfect with that black line on the head enjoy all ur videos
Davie. Do you have a whole video on the compete introduction of Spey fly hooks and shanks that explains the history and function and how to properly rig?? No video to be found on youtube that I can see and I'd really rather learn from you anyway!
Hi Dylan,
I'm sorry I don't, I mainly stick to the tying of these flies but it would make a great video showing the history of this style and very popular fly as well as how they can be fished..
All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Could you do a video on the preparation of, and different types of spey hooks/Shanks ?
Another cracking fly thanks Davie.
hi davie another beautifully tied spey flie.best reguards steve
I have some flies in that pattern and I use them for crappie
As always, another work of art Dave. I do not fly fish or tie flies, but I always enjoy watching you tie a fly.
In regard to the pheasant wing where you mention it is normally red and now dyed green; Do you dye them yourself and how do you get the feathers to take on the color? I thought the feathers would shed/reject the water and color.
This is a winderful fly fir salmon in new brunswick canada. I love your videos. Why is it you use wax davie? What type of wax is it?
Hey Davie, do you have to bleach that golden pheasant to get it to take the dye. Great idea for spey hackles, I have been using some burnt goose. Lots to prep but looks good. Not to your eye I suppose but I am just learning to tie these flies. I wish I could find someone to teach me about the feather wing classics. I know you are a master at it but no time for teaching. Too bad too because I can attribute my excellent basics to repeatedly watching and learning from you. All the best to you and yours. Thanks so much for sharing your gift with the rest of us mere mortals. Sean
Hi Sean,
The Golden Pheasant that I used came from a wholesale company called Veniards and they are dyed from their natural colour, I have attached a link to some that are being sold on Amazon..

Thanks very much Davie.
where i live, there's a local legend named Bryant Freeman who is an amazing fly tier, especially for featherwing classics, and he owns Eskape Anglers in Riverview, N.B, you can contact him with this link, store5047022.ecwid.com/
he truly is a master at what he does, and is glad to help anyone, he's currently teaching me the secrets to tying, and i am sure he'll help you with anything you need,
all the best,
Matt
Thank you very much for your help
Master hiiii, could you create the pattern for tube fly?
Hi Diego,
Yes you could tye this fly on a tube easily just with a longer wing to suit..
All the very best Davie
what kind of synthetics I can use instead of arctic fox?
what are some good substitutes to use for the eyes?
To be honest with you I don't like any of the Jungle Cock subs so I would rather not use any at all, but if you really wanted an eye on the fly use a small adhesive eye on the side of the head and use a resin to highlight it...
All the very best Davie

Thanks Davie, I've learned alot from your vid's, Keep up the great work!
Very nice fly :-) Thanks.
Hey Dave: Great video -- as usual. It's one of my favorite flies -- and a great tutorial. I've been using it for a while. Wrote a post about it here, including your video. newenglandonthefly.com/2014/02/28/green-spey-fly-pattern-winter-salmon-favorite/
Thanks again,
Ben
