Analyzing this scene makes it a thousand times stronger. First the music: The song used in this scene is called: 'Ragnar Dreams of Home' wich is almost exactly the same as the song later used in the scenes of Ragnar's Death called: 'The Vikings are Told of Ragnar's Death'. This alone makes it come full circle. The flashback to his past and the destiny that awaits him. Secondly, the battle against his drug addiction symbolises his addition to adventure and taking risks in life, for the good and the bad. The things he told his son Björn about what it is to be King. The speech he later gives to his men why he is King and that he didn't actively choose it but it came on his path. While he often says he dictates his own destiny not the gods. The drugs confront him with his inner struggles and battles wich he cannot suppress nor escape. Ragnar was just another human being, a man with flaws. And all men will eventually be confronted with their choices, successes and flaws. This scene is soo damn powerful in soo many ways. Travis was born to play this role.
I do not think he had "drug addiction". Drug use is vastly different from drug *abuse*. Psychedelics are particularly beneficial for therapeutic reasons, including doing things like...confronting you with your internal struggles. When you need to grow, that is a positive.

Damn
I was a warrior too and lost my wife and son. This was way too real ... made me cry.
yes she played that scene perfectly as well ... her little smile turning to dismay broke my heart. Her face is tender and subtle
Yes i noticed too, his failures when he let others down, then he looks away and shakes it of...
This scene wrecked me. Great music, the way it was put together, really showed how it all came together, but also came apart for Ragnar.
Do you know what music is this in background, please let me know if you know it.
I really love Ragnar , He is a real man
Me too😍
Every time I watch this series, this scene brings tears to my eyes. He should’ve never left the farm, man.
It always amazes me how a scene with no dialogue whatsoever can say so much..this was truly was a very powerful scene
Ambition can steal everything
Blind, unfocused, unboundaried (is that a word 😂) ambition.
It hit me hard when I watched this scene. Less is sometimes more. I know this from my own mistakes that I have made. It's hard to move on and dont look back.
Money status power isn't everything, perfectly illustrated in this scene , what a series what an actor ❤️ Hail king Ragnar
He played Ragnar perfectly. I loved this show
Man i feel so much comman and attached to ragnar character❤❤as man no matter but u do good or bad no one cares about ur feeling a man always live a miserable life
Such a beatiful written show on the outside it looked like hes the king of the world but all he wanted was his love lagertha rollo and his kids and he only got one. He was king for his people he never wanted it. And the show made us feel the regret that he felt
Damn, wtf! You tryna make me cry tonight. This scene hit hard and Lagartha is so damned beautiful it hurts. Imagine being in Ragnar shoes. Those of you who have been divorced from the one you loved deeply know this feeling. Iykyk
A masterpiece moment in television
A atuação desse ator, é uma das melhores coisas que existe na indústria do cinema. Eu sinto a dor do personagem nessa cena
Ah essa cena é muito emocionante, a vida que poderia ter sido, a paz que podia ter vivido. A glória venceu o amor na luta interna. Linda cena!
😢❤ his true loves ..I'm not saying he didn't love his other sons but I think he would of went back to farm life if he had knowing future *yes the seer told him* but after it all when he was older and betrayed and lonely these are the only people loved him truly back
Edit.. replying back to comments below if you remember he had no choice but to be king if you remember him telling bjorn? They burnt him out his escape made them want him more he should of died he didn't..another thing in viking vallhalla why no rangers children
😪❤️
When ya see where ya fucked up😒
He missed his daughter terribly til the the end. He refused to let his final raiding party kill that little girl because he saw his daughter in her.
In the end. You find the ones who loved you back Unconditionally.
It's too relatable.... The past. The warm place.
Man I couldn't get enough of Vikings. The one this far
In my mind I wish I never left that farm- so cold yet true of he's perspective. I love Vikings and to have an Australian play the most famous Viking in history makes me proud- very proud well done Travis and cheers for the millions of tears when ragnars journey came to an end. Well played
When you chose others before the ones whos been there for you all along .
Ragnar was afraid to look back again
All the people he truly loved there
❤️
In this cruel world you have to fight for your needs if you doesn’t fight people’s pushes you down 💔💯
This show is full of biases, historical inaccuracies, characters who died off in a strange way. And yet I think this is possibly one of the best series ever made, or ever will be made.
the perfect scene!
everything just fits so well to the show and his character and travis fimmel deserved an oscar 100% for vikings!!!!!!!!
Essa cena é fantástica, uma das melhores mano, da pra perceber que a felicidade está na simplicidade e não nas conquistas ....
Ragnar was tripin ballz😳 In that moment you can see who Ragnar truly was and what he cared about. Whatever that chinese witch had him hooked on screwed him and everyone else along with him. She almost deserved to be strangled in that river in Frankia.
Lol I get what your saying but come on deserved it? She was kidnapped by vikings and sold into slavery
@@Mrcaptainmorgan93yeah, how dare she mistreat her enslavers. Wth is wrong with people? Villifying her? Nuts.
My favorite actor ever.
Everytime some1 mention Ragnar and Vikings i am speechles, this cant be described, so many emotions, what a jurney, what a fucking epic jurney, thank you from a bottom of my heart ❤❤❤
The greatest scene ever created ❤
One of my favorite Vikings scenes out of all the seasons
Simply the best scene in the whole movie all season!
Its 2023 and this still makes me cry.
Le moment insignifiant qui nous accompagne jusque de l'autre côté !❤️❤️❤️
