Excellent video! When I was around 13 years old (I’m now 65) I began searching thru my mom’s bound volumes of watchtowers and awakes just curious or just want to run references to then current articles and found a lot of teachings were changed through out history. From then on I was totally turned off not wanting anything to do with WT.
Being a new publisher in a congregation that had a large library of original WT publications was exciting! My zealous desire was to read as many of them as I could to learn about the rich spiritual heritage of "Jehovah's Organization"! Imagine my surprise when I asked our PO if I could borrow one of them and was told "No. There is no benefit to reading any of those. Just focus on the current publications and your bible." 😯 I eventually learned the reason for that admonition.
How does a JW even get past the reasoning of everything is changed in the past, and not think wait what if the future from today is all changed lololol
Luke 21; 8 He said: “Look out that you are not misled,+ for many will come on the basis of my name saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time is near.’ Do not go after them. You pointed out this scripture some time ago in an earlier video. It hit me like a ton of bricks. The main theme of the JW`s is exactly that. " The due time is near." According to Steven Lett we are in the final part, of the final part of the last days. Jesus said not to fallow anyone making this claim. We live by faith, not by fear.
If I was thinking about going into business with someone whose last endeavour ended in bankruptcy and her explanation was, "Mistakes were made" I'd know she hadn't learned a thing because she wasn't taking responsibility. I remember about 15 years ago I saw in the watchtower when it was depicting the 1919 Rutherford proclamation of advertise, advertise advertise, and then the infamous “millions now living MAY never die. I was like huh? I know it said WILL never die. That’s what they had on their huge banners. Why are they changing this? It was the beginning of questioning for me and there’s so many other things like this when you dig even just on the surface
I left 20ish years ago. I still defend publishers as there are some wonderfully kind hearted individuals who really love GOD, but I don't defend the organisation. I enjoyed the older generation more. They lived through WW2 and understood more about life than anyone. It's sad it's got to this. I think about two years ago the organisation deleted about 50 publications from their library. I was searching for the Revelation book but I found out it has gone. Thanks for this. Good video and respectful.

8:16 This is my exact thought when I started doubting having doubts. I was being told believe certain things, but I knew some were false, and other things made no sense. It made no sense to me to 100% follow people who claim to speak for God, yet get it wrong and then hide the truth or blame others. The first big example for me was Charles Russels convincing many to look to the pyramids as the "Bible on stone", then Ruthford later harshly criticizing those who believed it.
This video makes perfect sense to me. But I’m not certain the governing body or witnesses in general feel they are lying. Every witness I knew/know, feels that the GB attempt to provide the “spiritual food” under prayerful direction, so if due to imperfection this doesn’t quite work out long term, they are given an automatic pass, it’s not a lie, at the time it’s what they “honestly” believed and the fact it became a “lie” or manifested not as described was not intentional. I’ve been told things like “why do you expect perfection from the body?” “They are doing the best they can” or “yes they are only imperfect humans doing their best and the light gets brighter” - always an avalanche of excuses are made. It’s very hard to find a witness that would say they are liars. I agree human element is present but I agree with Brother Eric their inability to humble themselves on past issues that can effect peoples faith is very troubling.
Wow everything you have said with the JWs making excuses for the governing body sounds exactly like what ppl in my family have said or previous JW friends. My family said time and time again "but the governing body are imperfect men" I just gave up and realized that they will live with their heads buried deep in the sand smdh
@@firstname8348 I think you can disagree with them. You just can’t spread your thoughts to others or else that causes divisions in the congregation. Before baptism you answer questions and two are about the governing body and faithful and discrete slave, so if later you take issue with them, you are going against your baptismal promise and hence disfellowshipping can occur. They have all bases covered and you are cornered. As for their magazines, I think they have gone so far “beyond what is written” as per scripture. When you think about the 12 commandments, look how far they’ve drifted from just that. For me to be a witness, I had to become someone I didn’t like. I progressed far in the organization and at a point I asked myself as an honest man becoming more aware that I’m being lied to, involved in lies, and invariably expected to lie, do I keep going and become like them, or remain honest. I didn’t throw Jehovah away, I just threw JW away and I paid for it and I’m still paying. Isn’t it funny, the bible says “vengeance is mine says Jehovah” but no, vengeance can be dished out daily from JW. Cross them and you’ll see.
@Mr Gordy. It all depends on what Freemasons think about deception. I think they use the word 'craft' to talk about deception they foist on others to keep their secrets and their power over others. The majority, if not all of the GB are Freemasons. I've seen the pinky rings on a few of them. One ex-witness video recently said this, referring to a picture of the GB all singing together. I couldn't see their hands and the picture was too small, but she may have had other information I didn't. I think the GB DOES deliberately deceive. They allow subliminal stuff into their publications and have for years (and they disfellowship those who bring it to their attention). It took them over a decade to remove a penis (trying to pass it off as a forearm and wrist) off of their paperback edition of their songbook. The apostle Paul talked about the hypocrisy of liars having a seared conscience, and the GB lies, and their hypocritical lifestyles (driving luxury automobiles, wearing Rolex watches, fancy suits, buying 100s of dollars of expensive liquor, etc.) belie their beliefs.
They are not doing their best. It's funny how they can say that. Living a paid for live and being so close to god as they supposedly are, their best would be much better than the best of anyone else

I’m a jw and I’m going through crises of conscience myself. I just down loaded the studies in the scriptures by Russell and I sent it to my jw sister. I asked her “did Jesus, upon his inspection, find the faithful and discreet slave class worthy of all of his belongings? Even though they got the events right but timings wrong. No answer. Do you think it is a fair question?
I have those original books. Ask yourself “why is there a pagan Egyptian sundial and wings on the front of that book?” And “why is there a detailed schematic of the great pyramid in a trifold at the front of the book?” Pyramidology

Page 44 “…Napoleon, Who is deeds mark the beginning of the time of the end” and on pages 48 and 63 says the “time of the end” is not 1914 but a time long before that which is “1799”, the time of Napoleon. SapphirePlays, it is indeed a fair question. The fact that there is no answer indicates that to answer it would require this JW sister to go places she does not want to go. It is very difficult to have one's world view challenged credibly. It takes time for people to deal with change. It is the emotional equivalent to an earthquake. You are rocking the solid ground upon which her whole life is based. If she loves truth, she will have the courage to find it.

I was curious so i ordered a copy. In this book they at the time believed 2 classes were going to heaven. It’s amazing to see how they kept changing.

Have you studied the worldwide Church of God Eric? They had very similar teachings to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the 1980s they drastically changed a lot of their teachings and admitted that they were overzealous and made mistakes. The original leader had passed away and the new church leader admitted all of this. It was a similar change to when Rutherford took over Russell and eliminated a lot of Russells teachings. The JW’s will not do that, they are too proud. They will keep using the ‘light gets brighter’ as an excuse and they will avoid reading scriptures that exposes their MO

Very informative and your calm, clear presentation is very truthful. As an 8 year-old returning from the great 1958 Yankee-Stadium convention I was fascinated with reading the 1920's and 30's booklets by Rutherford. I liked the style of oil-painting illustrations. Yet in the era of Nathan Knorr, I was unsettled by Rutherfords aggressive and arrogant attacks in his literature. It only took me 40 years to walk out.

Some history behind the translation commetee 1969 etc. Their Hebrew & Greek education level. What was the real base for their "translation" as majority of JWs believe the JWorg actually ttanated from the original languages etc.. the major changes in later updated NWT including the kingdom interlinear Bible move from violet to blue issue and instructions to destroy the violet one etc.. you have just a great talent-gift to make a 15-30min video covering a topic with a academic precision and still understandable to all. You know that's an interesting thing you mention: How the organization never apologizes. I've oftentimes thought that myself, and I don't hear many people--even people critical of the Witnesses--broaching the subject. From the outside the organization does appear humble, but their actions say otherwise. Like last year at one of the assembles someone was delivering a talk--I think David Splane or Samuel Herd, now I forget whom--and he mentioned the child abuse that was being reported in the media. He said we could all rest assured that the organization has handled all child abuse allegations appropriately, and then he went to cast aspersions on the media and critics of the organization. That was not a Christ-like attitude to have. To emphatically state that the organization has never mishandled anything was a sign of hubris and not humility. It's also an insult to the children and parents of those abused. It's an insult to the journalists who are just doing their jobs and reporting it. They're worried about stumbling people with beards, but what about stumbling the victims of child abuse and reporters? Also, Morris' behavior at the liquor store quickly comes to mind. The organization doesn't issue a statement and clarify why Morris was there. Say hypothetically a Witness struggles with alcoholism, is bored one night and he Googles Tony Morris' name, and sees the liquor store video. That could justify drinking in that reformed alcoholic's eyes and get him/her started again. And of course the 1975 stuff you mentioned. They never apologize.
Hello Eric, I have found as I've watched your videos more and more that you exude truth, the true that I have always searched for. I was a JW and left after the generation of 1914 will by no means pass away was changed. I later sought to return ( for what reason eludes me) however, on discussing my return with the elders, when they placed me in another room to talk about me among themselves I coul hear one elder putting me down, it was at that point when I was thinking of the prodigal son returning as told by Jesus that the penny dropped completely. I new that there was no Christian love being shown, no forgiveness. I left never to return. In my heart and mind Jehovah never left my belief in him but back to the world I went, still believing but no direction. I watched Lloyd Evans, who has become an atheist but that was never me. After myself and my brother saw spirits manifest themselves to us when we were young we both know that realm exists. I have listened carefully and inclined my ear to your discussions and know truth when I hear it.

Millions then living died....BTW, the St Louis, MO, assembly in 1941, was a "readjustment" of expectations for 1874 onto 1914, thus buying 40 more years for the "time of the end".

It's done slowly so the victim writes off the event as a one off or oddity and doesn't realize they are being controlled and manipulated.
JW's have been rewriting history in their publications since the late 1800's. When i began to suspect that they were teaching untruths, i wanted to go back in history and read the publication that they were using for teaching back in 1914, to see if their teachings differed from today's teachings in any way. Twenty years ago when i left the organization, they were using the 'from paradise lost to paradise regained' book. In the late 1800's to the 1930's they were using a series of books called 'studies in the scriptures'. I found that every year that passed, and their predictions did not come true, they would revise the books for the following years. They have failed predictions for the years 1881, 1910, 1914, 1915, 1920, and 1925. For their 1975 prediction, they were careful because of their many wrong past predictions, and were careful what they put into print. But i do personally remember their bold 1975 predictions preached from the governing body at assembly's, from kingdom hall platforms, and from door to door preaching. Would a loving God really lie to us like that? Absolutely not! He never lied to us before! It's only men that lie.

Ps 55:13-15 This seems to be talking about Judas, and in verse 15 it says he goes down to Sheol. It is our understanding that all those in Sheol will be resurrected according to John 5:28,29. All I can say for certain is that I cannot say for certain what is Judas future.
Good point at 9: 30 minutes in, on how Bible writers confessed and wrote about their own mistakes; often in a third person point of view. How different from the arrogance of the modern day pharisees; the governing body; who say "we don't have to apologize for past misunderstandings,"....!!!! That's my biggest beef with the org. today.
You're So Right and Exact, I remember back in 1974 JW'S Strongly encouraged us to work part-time and Preach full-time because 1975 was the end of 6,000 Years and the End of This System of Things was bound to Come. Try pointing out some of the obvious and blatant lies that are contained within their own literature. Then see how much love you are the recipient thereof! I predict that you stating what is verifiably true will not be well received and will inevitably result in you being ostracised , which would be a staggering act of hypocrisy, when you consider how this organisation openly boasts it is the " truth."
Their advice is only based on what they teach , and their love is not a true love, it is only conditional on being in their organization. There would be no need to attack the brothers, they are indoctrinated by the religion. If you have issues, it should be with the organization as a whole and their teachings. Keep researching, keep looking, once you uncover everything they don't want you to know, you won't struggle anymore, because you will have all your answers and full total clarity.
They are brother and friends as long as you are in the organization. Ones you question a single thing does "brothers" treat you as a leper even your really close friends. I'm proof of that
The overwhelming majority of JW's I've talked to over the years are very ignorant of the the Watchtowers history and their founder, Charles Taze Russell. And those who have some knowledge of their history, disavow that they still follow his teachings and those of his successor, J.F. Rutherford - who BTW actually was the one who rebranded the organization known at the time first as "Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society" and then in 1896 as the "Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society" that came to be referred to as the "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931.
I always like using the "Fruit of the Poisonous Tree" when referring to these 1800's cults. It's Amazing how they never figured out why Jehovah waited 2000+ yrs to inform humanity that what he Inspired the previous Prophets to write was not what he really meant. Hmmm. I guess he just let millions, who were supposed to "Not Die" just die.

I don't believe the organization is a cult but has corruption and a lot of massive mistakes in the pass and definitely bad men. But the Bible speaks about the slave beating his servants which to me would be the corruption and man made traditions along with ect' it takes faith to hear videos like this. See so many hurt from people inside the org. It's sad because people like Eric do make sense but it's just too easy to attack JW and blast them for doctrines and what they believe is Truth. I Do not agree with everything they think and do but I see thier persecution in Russia and I'm very interested if the world's system concludes on attacking them national. If you lie about one thing you will lie about other things. Eric I appreciate your work you have open my eyes on many things ,if the rank and file witness just would take the time and read the Bible for their self’s the curtains will be opened. One witness told me stop showing them things about the organization. I said why he stated I would commit suicide if I came to a realization that he was lied to and made a fool all those years. I told him knowing the truth would set him free. He ran away crying. So sad
Your friend's reaction is sadly not unique. There are many who have committed suicide upon learning the truth and either being unable to face it, or being confronted with the harshness of the organization (shunning).
The Harp of God was the book my grandmother studied when converting from Baptist to JW. Her uncle was the first family member to convert years earlier. I read it when I was a kid.
My great-grandmother read the Harp of God. She had many children, most of whom became Bible Students, and from there, Jehovah's Witnesses. My grandparents on my "other side" were also Bible Students, and later Jehovah's Witnesses. I was "born in".

However, after many years of brushing off inconsistencies as "New Light" I doubts about the GB and then the "Overlapping Generations" was the last straw. All of my relatives on both sides of my family are, with a few exceptions, zealous and obedient JWs. Many knee deep in the hierarchy the Bethel and Gilead live action role play.
@@butziporsche8646, We've been on a parallel course. Strangely, the JW false doctrines never bothered me. But I was massively mistreated due to a nepotism factor. I couldn't make sense of it. Every effort I made for getting justice just compounded my status as a leper. I faded, except for Memorials. I got a college degree and continued into a Masters. I read Crisis of Conscience. Lol! Oh, wow!
Brother Eric in the watchtower study article of last Sunday they are now blaming others for their mistakes stating that because of mis understanding of some brothers and the whay THEY interpret things. The GB has to "clarify" new light ( to me this is referring to the 1975 generation)This gets me so angry as to you know wanting to say a few words and the worst is that you just can't reason with this men or any of our fellow JWs. I seen on the news where a woman who was disfellowshiped killed her husband and thier children because she felt that she would see them all again in the new world by the resurrection of the unjust broke my heart if she would have only known the real truth it's so sad resurrection with the unjust believing she would and her family

About 3 years ago when I started getting into religion and I went to the hospital, I actually prayed for Satan/the devil/Lucifer (whatever names he went by) and I prayed for Jehovah to forgive him. I must have prayed the entire 40 days I was in the hospital. I did not pray for Satan because I am his friend or want to be his friend, I did because Jehovah teaches us to pray for our enemies. However, my mom ended up correcting me when I told her about what I had did by praying for him and that he would repent, etc. and she told me that God never changes his mind and so that what he has planned for the Devil is set in stone, etc., do you think Jehovah will be upset with me for praying for the devil? I no longer do pray for the devil because my mom says not to and I understand that it can possibly lead to inviting him back around? I despise the devils actions and should have never prayed for him to begin with but I thought that maybe, just maybe he can repent too. If you managed to read down this far, I'm sorry for the long response and I don't expect you to reply... I know I may be just another crazy guy in the comments, but I prefer asking questions to REAL Jehovah's Witnesses and even though you no longer go to the Kingdom Hall, etc., I still consider you to be a REAL Jehovah's Witness, because that is what you are and what you are doing, you're just doing it in your own way and outside of an organization! My mom says that a lot of people at the Kingdom Hall hang out in cliques or groups (like the rich with the rich and the poor with the poor) and although that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, I do miss going to the Kingdom Hall and I really did feel love there, corruption, etc. aside! I was disturbed when I found out that they allegedly used a song by a band at one of their conventions and the band was called "Audiomachine" or something like that and on the album cover there was this demonic like creature portrayed on it. Whether it was intentional or not, I do not know. But it is still a bummer to know that there can be evil men or men with evil intentions at the forefront of all religions and even though most religions do have good intentions, unfortunately a lot of times there is wicked people running them (from all aspects and not just religion). Anyway, I just woke up a few minutes ago and I haven't even had my coffee yet but I am getting ready to do some Bible study and so I am excited! As for your other question, all I can say is that he listens to prayers and any prayer from a faithful child of God will be answered if it does not conflict with God's will.

Do you yourself feel that when Jesus did or does come or came to inspect the FDS, he would expect a standard of the highest order and that having the wrong events at the wrong time could not be felt by Jesus as a simple mistake? A need to wait for clearer light but as long as other doctrines not taught? I’ve been a jw for many years and I’m impressed by your videos. We all just want accurate truth don’t we? But what confuses me is that the witnesses are a clean moral well behaved organisation which is unusual nowadays. I had many happy years amongst the witnesses but I just can’t seem to get past this question . I not scared to face teachings truth. I pray about being given guidance because that way we can be sure of not getting it wrong. What matters to God is repentance, not the degree of sin. Since the Organization continues to fight against acknowledging its past transgression, what basis does Jesus, who has been appointed by God to do the judging, have for forgiving them? For instance, to date they have never repented for the hypocrisy of disfellowshipping anyone who joins a political party while they themselves were affiliated with the United Nations for 10 years until they were exposed in a UK Guardian newspaper article. There are other Christian groups known for high moral standards, such as the Mormons, Amish, Quakers, and Cavalry Chapel Groups--to name only a few. Nevertheless, it is not any outward display of moral rectitude that defines Christianity. Paul actually tells us that “. . .Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15) So it is their works that you must look at, not the facade presented to the world. Jesus said that what truly identifies true Christianity is the love they show to each other. Witnesses are taught to shun those who disagree with the GB or who simply choose to leave. This is unscriptural and hateful.
@@UKS12345, I'll address the part about Watchtower being clean and moral. They aren't. Yeah, I know that WT is "all over" young people. But the Shepherd the Flock of God book, i.e., the secret elder's book, gives elders all kinds of ways to get rid of their wives and to make it look like it's the wife's fault. Plus, wives didn't even know that book existed. It's one big "good ol' boys club".

When I was around 13 years old (I’m now 65) I began searching thru my mom’s bound volumes of watchtowers and awakes just curious or just want to run references to then current articles and found a lot of teachings were changed through out history. From then on I was totally turned off not wanting anything to do with WT.
I saw similar things. But I was so brainwashed that I thought, "Oh, isn't that quaint."

Being a new publisher in a congregation that had a large library of original WT publications was exciting! My zealous desire was to read as many of them as I could to learn about the rich spiritual heritage of "Jehovah's Organization"!
Imagine my surprise when I asked our PO if I could borrow one of them and was told "No. There is no benefit to reading any of those. Just focus on the current publications and your bible."

You pointed out this scripture some time ago in an earlier video. It hit me like a ton of bricks. The main theme of the JW`s is exactly that. " The due time is near." According to Steven Lett we are in the final part, of the final part of the last days. Jesus said not to fallow anyone making this claim. We live by faith, not by fear.
If I was thinking about going into business with someone whose last endeavour ended in bankruptcy and her explanation was, "Mistakes were made" I'd know she hadn't learned a thing because she wasn't taking responsibility.

I remember about 15 years ago I saw in the watchtower when it was depicting the 1919 Rutherford proclamation of advertise, advertise advertise, and then the infamous “millions now living MAY never die. I was like huh? I know it said WILL never die. That’s what they had on their huge banners. Why are they changing this? It was the beginning of questioning for me and there’s so many other things like this when you dig even just on the surface
It was originally "may" in 1918. It was changed to "will" around 1921.
I left 20ish years ago.
I still defend publishers as there are some wonderfully kind hearted individuals who really love GOD, but I don't defend the organisation.
I enjoyed the older generation more. They lived through WW2 and understood more about life than anyone.
It's sad it's got to this. I think about two years ago the organisation deleted about 50 publications from their library.
I was searching for the Revelation book but I found out it has gone.

8:16 This is my exact thought when I started doubting having doubts. I was being told believe certain things, but I knew some were false, and other things made no sense. It made no sense to me to 100% follow people who claim to speak for God, yet get it wrong and then hide the truth or blame others.
The first big example for me was Charles Russels convincing many to look to the pyramids as the "Bible on stone", then Ruthford later harshly criticizing those who believed it.
This video makes perfect sense to me. But I’m not certain the governing body or witnesses in general feel they are lying. Every witness I knew/know, feels that the GB attempt to provide the “spiritual food” under prayerful direction, so if due to imperfection this doesn’t quite work out long term, they are given an automatic pass, it’s not a lie, at the time it’s what they “honestly” believed and the fact it became a “lie” or manifested not as described was not intentional. I’ve been told things like “why do you expect perfection from the body?” “They are doing the best they can” or “yes they are only imperfect humans doing their best and the light gets brighter” - always an avalanche of excuses are made. It’s very hard to find a witness that would say they are liars. I agree human element is present but I agree with Brother Eric their inability to humble themselves on past issues that can effect peoples faith is very troubling.

My family said time and time again "but the governing body are imperfect men" I just gave up and realized that they will live with their heads buried deep in the sand smdh

@@firstname8348 I think you can disagree with them. You just can’t spread your thoughts to others or else that causes divisions in the congregation. Before baptism you answer questions and two are about the governing body and faithful and discrete slave, so if later you take issue with them, you are going against your baptismal promise and hence disfellowshipping can occur. They have all bases covered and you are cornered. As for their magazines, I think they have gone so far “beyond what is written” as per scripture. When you think about the 12 commandments, look how far they’ve drifted from just that. For me to be a witness, I had to become someone I didn’t like. I progressed far in the organization and at a point I asked myself as an honest man becoming more aware that I’m being lied to, involved in lies, and invariably expected to lie, do I keep going and become like them, or remain honest. I didn’t throw Jehovah away, I just threw JW away and I paid for it and I’m still paying. Isn’t it funny, the bible says “vengeance is mine says Jehovah” but no, vengeance can be dished out daily from JW. Cross them and you’ll see.
@Mr Gordy. It all depends on what Freemasons think about deception. I think they use the word 'craft' to talk about deception they foist on others to keep their secrets and their power over others. The majority, if not all of the GB are Freemasons. I've seen the pinky rings on a few of them. One ex-witness video recently said this, referring to a picture of the GB all singing together. I couldn't see their hands and the picture was too small, but she may have had other information I didn't. I think the GB DOES deliberately deceive. They allow subliminal stuff into their publications and have for years (and they disfellowship those who bring it to their attention). It took them over a decade to remove a penis (trying to pass it off as a forearm and wrist) off of their paperback edition of their songbook. The apostle Paul talked about the hypocrisy of liars having a seared conscience, and the GB lies, and their hypocritical lifestyles (driving luxury automobiles, wearing Rolex watches, fancy suits, buying 100s of dollars of expensive liquor, etc.) belie their beliefs.
They are not doing their best. It's funny how they can say that. Living a paid for live and being so close to god as they supposedly are, their best would be much better than the best of anyone else
The truth is that all those reading this book in 1921 did die and the end didn't come. These false teachings affected so many lives. What a sin !

I’m a jw and I’m going through crises of conscience myself. I just down loaded the studies in the scriptures by Russell and I sent it to my jw sister. I asked her “did Jesus, upon his inspection, find the faithful and discreet slave class worthy of all of his belongings? Even though they got the events right but timings wrong. No answer. Do you think it is a fair question?
I have those original books.
Ask yourself “why is there a pagan Egyptian sundial and wings on the front of that book?”
And “why is there a detailed schematic of the great pyramid in a trifold at the front of the book?”

I was curious so i ordered a copy. In this book they at the time believed 2 classes were going to heaven. It’s amazing to see how they kept changing.

Have you studied the worldwide Church of God Eric? They had very similar teachings to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the 1980s they drastically changed a lot of their teachings and admitted that they were overzealous and made mistakes. The original leader had passed away and the new church leader admitted all of this. It was a similar change to when Rutherford took over Russell and eliminated a lot of Russells teachings.
The JW’s will not do that, they are too proud. They will keep using the ‘light gets brighter’ as an excuse and they will avoid reading scriptures that exposes their MO

Very informative and your calm, clear presentation is very truthful. As an 8 year-old returning from the great 1958 Yankee-Stadium convention I was fascinated with reading the 1920's and 30's booklets by Rutherford. I liked the style of oil-painting illustrations. Yet in the era of Nathan Knorr, I was unsettled by Rutherfords aggressive and arrogant attacks in his literature. It only took me 40 years to walk out.

Some history behind the translation commetee 1969 etc. Their Hebrew & Greek education level. What was the real base for their "translation" as majority of JWs believe the JWorg actually ttanated from the original languages etc.. the major changes in later updated NWT including the kingdom interlinear Bible move from violet to blue issue and instructions to destroy the violet one etc.. you have just a great talent-gift to make a 15-30min video covering a topic with a academic precision and still understandable to all. You know that's an interesting thing you mention: How the organization never apologizes. I've oftentimes thought that myself, and I don't hear many people--even people critical of the Witnesses--broaching the subject. From the outside the organization does appear humble, but their actions say otherwise. Like last year at one of the assembles someone was delivering a talk--I think David Splane or Samuel Herd, now I forget whom--and he mentioned the child abuse that was being reported in the media. He said we could all rest assured that the organization has handled all child abuse allegations appropriately, and then he went to cast aspersions on the media and critics of the organization. That was not a Christ-like attitude to have. To emphatically state that the organization has never mishandled anything was a sign of hubris and not humility. It's also an insult to the children and parents of those abused. It's an insult to the journalists who are just doing their jobs and reporting it. They're worried about stumbling people with beards, but what about stumbling the victims of child abuse and reporters? Also, Morris' behavior at the liquor store quickly comes to mind. The organization doesn't issue a statement and clarify why Morris was there. Say hypothetically a Witness struggles with alcoholism, is bored one night and he Googles Tony Morris' name, and sees the liquor store video. That could justify drinking in that reformed alcoholic's eyes and get him/her started again. And of course the 1975 stuff you mentioned. They never apologize.

Hello Eric, I have found as I've watched your videos more and more that you exude truth, the true that I have always searched for. I was a JW and left after the generation of 1914 will by no means pass away was changed. I later sought to return ( for what reason eludes me) however, on discussing my return with the elders, when they placed me in another room to talk about me among themselves I coul hear one elder putting me down, it was at that point when I was thinking of the prodigal son returning as told by Jesus that the penny dropped completely. I new that there was no Christian love being shown, no forgiveness. I left never to return. In my heart and mind Jehovah never left my belief in him but back to the world I went, still believing but no direction. I watched Lloyd Evans, who has become an atheist but that was never me. After myself and my brother saw spirits manifest themselves to us when we were young we both know that realm exists. I have listened carefully and inclined my ear to your discussions and know truth when I hear it.

Gaslighting can be a very effective tool for the abuser to control an individual. It's done slowly so the victim writes off the event as a one off or oddity and doesn't realize they are being controlled and manipulated.

JW's have been rewriting history in their publications since the late 1800's. When i began to suspect that they were teaching untruths, i wanted to go back in history and read the publication that they were using for teaching back in 1914, to see if their teachings differed from today's teachings in any way. Twenty years ago when i left the organization, they were using the 'from paradise lost to paradise regained' book. In the late 1800's to the 1930's they were using a series of books called 'studies in the scriptures'. I found that every year that passed, and their predictions did not come true, they would revise the books for the following years. They have failed predictions for the years 1881, 1910, 1914, 1915, 1920, and 1925. For their 1975 prediction, they were careful because of their many wrong past predictions, and were careful what they put into print. But i do personally remember their bold 1975 predictions preached from the governing body at assembly's, from kingdom hall platforms, and from door to door preaching. Would a loving God really lie to us like that? Absolutely not! He never lied to us before! It's only men that lie.

This seems to be talking about Judas, and in verse 15 it says he goes down to Sheol. It is our understanding that all those in Sheol will be resurrected according to John 5:28,29. All I can say for certain is that I cannot say for certain what is Judas future.
Good point at 9: 30 minutes in, on how Bible writers confessed and wrote about their own mistakes; often in a third person point of view. How different from the arrogance of the modern day pharisees; the governing body; who say "we don't have to apologize for past misunderstandings,"....!!!! That's my biggest beef with the org. today.

Try pointing out some of the obvious and blatant lies that are contained within their own literature. Then see how much love you are the recipient thereof! I predict that you stating what is verifiably true will not be well received and will inevitably result in you being ostracised , which would be a staggering act of hypocrisy, when you consider how this organisation openly boasts it is the " truth."
Their advice is only based on what they teach , and their love is not a true love, it is only conditional on being in their organization. There would be no need to attack the brothers, they are indoctrinated by the religion. If you have issues, it should be with the organization as a whole and their teachings. Keep researching, keep looking, once you uncover everything they don't want you to know, you won't struggle anymore, because you will have all your answers and full total clarity.

The overwhelming majority of JW's I've talked to over the years are very ignorant of the the Watchtowers history and their founder, Charles Taze Russell. And those who have some knowledge of their history, disavow that they still follow his teachings and those of his successor, J.F. Rutherford - who BTW actually was the one who rebranded the organization known at the time first as "Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society" and then in 1896 as the "Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society" that came to be referred to as the "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931.
Oh the deception of following men!

I always like using the "Fruit of the Poisonous Tree" when referring to these 1800's cults. It's Amazing how they never figured out why Jehovah waited 2000+ yrs to inform humanity that what he Inspired the previous Prophets to write was not what he really meant. Hmmm. I think Praying for the enemy is proper. I also believe that we, as Christians, are obligated to expose the enemy for what they are. There have been many people who have left these cults due to the Information Age. We should keep up the pressure on these groups. Light is the best Disinfectant.

I don't believe the organization is a cult but has corruption and a lot of massive mistakes in the pass and definitely bad men. But the Bible speaks about the slave beating his servants which to me would be the corruption and man made traditions along with ect' it takes faith to hear videos like this. See so many hurt from people inside the org. It's sad because people like Eric do make sense but it's just too easy to attack JW and blast them for doctrines and what they believe is Truth. I Do not agree with everything they think and do but I see thier persecution in Russia and I'm very interested if the world's system concludes on attacking them national. To speak put may be one thing but to make a whole career on any religions mistakes is not something I think Jesus would approve off. I'm sorry but calling them a cult when people like family members are being beaten and thrown in jail for years really makes me angry.

If you lie about one thing you will lie about other things. Eric I appreciate your work you have open my eyes on many things ,if the rank and file witness just would take the time and read the Bible for their self’s the curtains will be opened. One witness told me stop showing them things about the organization. I said why he stated I would commit suicide if I came to a realization that he was lied to and made a fool all those years. I told him knowing the truth would set him free. He ran away crying. So sad
Your friend's reaction is sadly not unique. There are many who have committed suicide upon learning the truth and either being unable to face it, or being confronted with the harshness of the organization (shunning).

The Harp of God was the book my grandmother studied when converting from Baptist to JW. Her uncle was the first family member to convert years earlier. I read it when I was a kid.
My great-grandmother read the Harp of God. She had many children, most of whom became Bible Students, and from there, Jehovah's Witnesses. My grandparents on my "other side" were also Bible Students, and later Jehovah's Witnesses. I was "born in".

However, after many years of brushing off inconsistencies as "New Light" I doubts about the GB and then the "Overlapping Generations" was the last straw. All of my relatives on both sides of my family are, with a few exceptions, zealous and obedient JWs. Many knee deep in the hierarchy the Bethel and Gilead live action role play.

We've been on a parallel course. Strangely, the JW false doctrines never bothered me. But I was massively mistreated due to a nepotism factor. I couldn't make sense of it. Every effort I made for getting justice just compounded my status as a leper. I faded, except for Memorials. I got a college degree and continued into a Masters. I read Crisis of Conscience. Lol! Oh, wow!

Brother Eric in the watchtower study article of last Sunday they are now blaming others for their mistakes stating that because of mis understanding of some brothers and the whay THEY interpret things. The GB has to "clarify" new light ( to me this is referring to the 1975 generation)This gets me so angry as to you know wanting to say a few words and the worst is that you just can't reason with this men or any of our fellow JWs. I seen on the news where a woman who was disfellowshiped killed her husband and thier children because she felt that she would see them all again in the new world by the resurrection of the unjust broke my heart if she would have only known the real truth it's so sad resurrection with the unjust believing she would and her family

About 3 years ago when I started getting into religion and I went to the hospital, I actually prayed for Satan/the devil/Lucifer (whatever names he went by) and I prayed for Jehovah to forgive him. I must have prayed the entire 40 days I was in the hospital. I did not pray for Satan because I am his friend or want to be his friend, I did because Jehovah teaches us to pray for our enemies. However, my mom ended up correcting me when I told her about what I had did by praying for him and that he would repent, etc. and she told me that God never changes his mind and so that what he has planned for the Devil is set in stone, etc., do you think Jehovah will be upset with me for praying for the devil? I no longer do pray for the devil because my mom says not to and I understand that it can possibly lead to inviting him back around? I despise the devils actions and should have never prayed for him to begin with but I thought that maybe, just maybe he can repent too. If you managed to read down this far, I'm sorry for the long response and I don't expect you to reply... I know I may be just another crazy guy in the comments, but I prefer asking questions to REAL Jehovah's Witnesses and even though you no longer go to the Kingdom Hall, etc., I still consider you to be a REAL Jehovah's Witness, because that is what you are and what you are doing, you're just doing it in your own way and outside of an organization! My mom says that a lot of people at the Kingdom Hall hang out in cliques or groups (like the rich with the rich and the poor with the poor) and although that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, I do miss going to the Kingdom Hall and I really did feel love there, corruption, etc. aside! I was disturbed when I found out that they allegedly used a song by a band at one of their conventions and the band was called "Audiomachine" or something like that and on the album cover there was this demonic like creature portrayed on it. Whether it was intentional or not, I do not know. But it is still a bummer to know that there can be evil men or men with evil intentions at the forefront of all religions and even though most religions do have good intentions, unfortunately a lot of times there is wicked people running them (from all aspects and not just religion). Anyway, I just woke up a few minutes ago and I haven't even had my coffee yet but I am getting ready to do some Bible study and so I am excited! Yes, Jehovah will forgive you, because he forgives all sins when we pray with genuine repentance in our heart. As for your other question, all I can say is that he listens to prayers and any prayer from a faithful child of God will be answered if it does not conflict with God's will.

Do you yourself feel that when Jesus did or does come or came to inspect the FDS, he would expect a standard of the highest order and that having the wrong events at the wrong time could not be felt by Jesus as a simple mistake? A need to wait for clearer light but as long as other doctrines not taught? I’ve been a jw for many years and I’m impressed by your videos. We all just want accurate truth don’t we? But what confuses me is that the witnesses are a clean moral well behaved organisation which is unusual nowadays. I had many happy years amongst the witnesses but I just can’t seem to get past this question . I not scared to face teachings truth. I pray about being given guidance because that way we can be sure of not getting it wrong. I would really appreciate your thought on how Jesus would react to the jws at that time getting things wrong?
@@UKS12345 Jehovah forgave King Manasseh for incredibly gross sins because he repented, yet he condemned Ananias and his wife for what we would nowadays call a little white lie. What matters to God is repentance, not the degree of sin. Since the Organization continues to fight against acknowledging its past transgression, what basis does Jesus, who has been appointed by God to do the judging, have for forgiving them? For instance, to date they have never repented for the hypocrisy of disfellowshipping anyone who joins a political party while they themselves were affiliated with the United Nations for 10 years until they were exposed in a UK Guardian newspaper article.
There are other Christian groups known for high moral standards, such as the Mormons, Amish, Quakers, and Cavalry Chapel Groups--to name only a few. Nevertheless, it is not any outward display of moral rectitude that defines Christianity. Paul actually tells us that “. . .Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15)
So it is their works that you must look at, not the facade presented to the world. Jesus said that what truly identifies true Christianity is the love they show to each other. Witnesses are taught to shun those who disagree with the GB or who simply choose to leave. This is unscriptural and hateful.

I'll address the part about Watchtower being clean and moral. They aren't. Yeah, I know that WT is "all over" young people. But the Shepherd the Flock of God book, i.e., the secret elder's book, gives elders all kinds of ways to get rid of their wives and to make it look like it's the wife's fault. Plus, wives didn't even know that book existed. It's one big "good ol' boys club".
