  • I-375 was a one-night projective exhibition developed in collaboration between Samuel Wasserman and Mehrak Tehrani. It was installed on December 13, 2024 at Toronto's Standard Time for Art Show Near Me and 999HEARD's collaborative club night, featuring Detroit's Huey Mnemonic on headlining duties.
When Detroit’s Interstate 375 began construction in 1959, it destroyed Paradise Valley, a thriving entertainment district, and Black Bottom, a vibrant, predominantly African American neighborhood. Residents of these areas were only given 30 days to vacate.
This 30 minute looping piece aims to expose the destruction and injustice that Interstate 375 imposed on Detroit to our club-goers that ultimately formed the ideas of counter-culture, reclamation, and visions of the future in the music we love so much; Detroit techno.
