Ship Wills Jackets come with rude and ridiculously awful customer service, are way too thick, and a bigger group of assholes isn't possible. A trendy product that doesn't hold a candle to Beckbe tensaw jackets.

I actually bought a lightweight, unlined canvas trucker from J. Crew for $43 bucks and I was going to wax it myself, but I ended up returning it since there were already some small frays and holes on the right shoulder, so I ended up returning it. I just ordered this one since it is already waxed, has lining, and is U.S. made.
Had a hard time choosing between some of the colors, but ended up going with the Havana. Was considering Tan, but came to conclusion that Havana would have better contrast with my skin tone and was more seasonably appropriate for the Fall. Thanks for the review Nick!
Absolutely love this jacket, same color in the video, fit is perfect. I’m 5’10 185 and have the Large and fits perfectly. This has quickly become one of my favorite jackets.. In TX and this perfect for winter.
I'm 5'11 190 & after 2 days of online research this is the comment that has convinced me to go for a Large! had been torn between getting a Medium or Large. are you able to comfortably wear a hoody underneath yours?
My have my father's old Barbour jacket and it's very comfortable and stylish. I have rewaxed it hundreds of times and it aged pretty well considering that it's already more than 10 years old.

@BoneThroneTriumph I didn't (both are size M) but its snug with a hoodie. I get away with it but if you want a bit of room you should size up the jacket. I find that in general the Flint & Tinder brand fits a little small.
I picked up this jacket in the Huckberry store in NYC. It wasn't overly waxy so I rewaxed it straight away with some Barbour wax. This definitely helped. It's starting to develop a nice patina as the wax dries out in places

@@Stridewise it doesn't take very long, maybe about 30 minutes. I used Barbour wax which you melt then apply. It can be a bit messy but worth it with the climate here in the UK.
I have this jacket, same color as the one in your video, and I love it. I bought a medium but I’m pretty skinny at 5’10 145lbs and it fits well. I was looking for a jacket like this not just because it looks great but I wanted something to wear on my walks in the spring and fall that was weather resistant and sturdy enough not to tear on brush and briars; this fits the bills.

I had one of these and sold it off. The shoulders are too narrow by far. I was mildly disappointed because I like buying US made goods, but it's still a nice jacket and I would recommend if the fit works for you. The Flint and Tinder jeans are the only jeans I wear. Buy them raw and break them in.

I’m 6’2” and weigh 210 I got the xl size and it fits much better than L size. I like being able to wear hoodies or layers under my jacket so if that’s you, I recommend xl
I am 6'3'' and 210 and the XL is a great fit while the L was too tight.

Bought this jacket and the rancher. Love the way they look. Hoping they last. The trucker is snug so size up if you are wanting to layer.
POLYESTER LINING : For me, that is a no-no. A waxed jacket - of whatever weight - it bad enough for heat regulation. One sprint to catch that bus, and with the additional of a plastic ( eg polyester ) lining, and your cotton shirt will be sticking to your back with sweat, and the jacket will be sticking to your arms. For me, much better to get the competitor's version with the wool lining. SEASONS : Also, for Spring and Autumn, to be an all-day-into-evening jacket, it will mean ( for me ) sizing it to accommodate a jumper for cold evenings. As ever, you've done a another great review here. I'm new to the channel, but it's very good. Only a pity that a lot of the American brands don't bother having distributors in Europe ( some have shops in London that stock their goods, but with the UK now not part of Europe, shipping and import taxes make most items cost prohibitive vs European goods )
Do you think a wool lining will make a big difference if the shell is still waxed canvas, the least breathable material in the world? I love the look of waxed canvas (I brought this jacket with me to England where I am now actually) but got damn, the lack of breathability...
Thanks. Kuhl may have something similar. Outlaw waxed jacket. 169 dollars. . Multiple colors. I have a Filson tin cloth 34 ounces. They made a special run of those. Not sure the details. Talk about a beast of a jacket. Filson appealed more to hunters, loggers and trappers. I fit in that category. Unfortunately Filson changed the waxing process to make the jackets less stiff and lighter. I will only buy original Filson products.
Loved the review! The Shipjohns is $498, but in two payments so they only list the first $250 deposit. Makes the pricing on this look pretty reasonable, though can't speak for either in person

I have it in the coal color, I absolutely love it. That tan one looks a lot like the Rogue Territory supply jacket which I also have, Its been featured in a lot movies and most recently the new James Bond movie that won't release till next year. He's shown wearing it in the trailer, you should review it in your next video

@@Stridewise Go for it, I got the unlined one which is the one James Bond uses, It is a slim fit, the Large may be a little too tight. I'd go for the XL since it measures 22.5 pit to pit, I'm also a Large in the flint and tinder jacket so you might want to size up

@@Stridewise It fits me just like the Large lined from Flint And Tinder, although the one from Rogue is the unlined one, I don't really see much of a stretch..... I'd go by the sites measurements. Because I'm shorter the sleeves are a little longer, you shouldn't have that issue. Maybe you can get away with the Large? But I noticed the Flint and Tinder fit you a little snug in the chest area. My advice would be the XL or get both and see which one fits best?
Just received mine today! In the oddly-named "Forest" colour... It's actually a dark grungy brown which I really like. The only issue I have is the big dumb "WAXED TRUCKER JACKET" label attached to the inside pocket which I will be removing with a seam ripper, stat. Otherwise, probably my favourite jacket I own.
Haha it took me so long to realize I can jsut remove patches I don't like with a seam ripper instead of complaining about them, I applaud your resourcefulness!
I've been trying to figure out if that color was darker brown or green lol. Definitely going to be ordering now that I know it's brown.
@@poolee77 Actually, my eyes deceived me: In bright daylight it is definitely more green, rather a browner green compared to moss. It's a weird colour, but I love it.

How does re-waxing the jacket work out when you've got a liner for all the wax to soak into?
Does this jacket suffer from clammy arms like Barbour jackets? I have a Barbour Ashby jacket and the polyester lining just doesn't breath at all which causes very clammy arms even when doing something as casual as walking in a mall.
How does this compare to the similar hudson jacket from flint and tinder as well?

I like the Jacket overall however (just an opinion here) one thing that irks me is the single pocket with the high contrast button. Maybe if the button was a more subtle design or replaced it would give me the less "one eye looking at me" feel.

Yes, I mean you can do the buttons at the waist like I did but you can also deifnitely get it tailored. That's why it's best to get jackets too big vs too small. Good luck Adam!

This jacket's cut is too long for short guys. I have the (unlined but much heavier) Rambler from Iron & Resin. I like both the color and the structured look of the Rambler way better than the F&T. And the Rambler's interior pockets are way more generous too.
if you got a 39 inch chest and you are 6 foot 1, 176lbs what size would you get?
update: got an M. fits perfectly everywhere apart from my shoulders i got quite broad shoulders and shoulders were just a tad to tight so i ordered a large.
I heard some waxed jackets might feel slightly sticky and might have some distinct smell. Would that go away over time? Also, what happens if you never re-wax the jacket? Would it just look and feel like any other regular jacket?
Yeah they often feel sticky but this one is lined so you avoid that. Wax does wear away with time and it'll look more like a regular canvas jacket but it'll still have variation in tone and stuff.
Yes it has a smell when you first get it but it goes away after a few wears

This jacket would be perfect if not for the polyester flannel. I avoid petrochemicals as much as I reasonably can. Even the "Wool lined" version is polyester blend shit. Really disappointing. Id rather take an unlined version and wear a long sleeve shirt under it.

I bought one of these -- it was beautiful and well-made and I LOVED the materials. But the sizing was all metrosexual-slim and I had to send it back. Stay away from this brand if you're a 'big' guy. Their "XLarge would me somewhere between Med and Large in Filson or Carhart. OR... if you lose 60 lbs, then you can treat yourself to one of these!!
Haha for trucker jackets they can get away with saying it's a classic fit as trucker jackets have always been tight. But a hefty friend of mine was interested in this and I told him it wasn't for him for that reason
They also don't make anything in a tall I have a long torso with broad shoulders I can't but anything they make.
