I agree with most of the other commenters . The XL looks much better to my eyes. I'm an older viewer, so maybe i never switched to what you are calling a " modern fit " . To me, it looks like a modern " doesn't fit " . I always thought a jacket should be functional as well as comfortable, and it always seems that a tight jacket would be uncomfortable. Of course, I have the added personal issue of my weight being distributed a little differently- 6 ft tall and 195lbs, with broad shoulders , a definite stomach, and very thin from the waist down. I probably couldn't even button the large in this jacket.

XL looks significantly better on you. The L billows out around your chest because it's becoming too taut, where the XL has an uninterrupted silhouette, which as we move away from too tight clothing, and now the herd is moving to too baggy, what is ideal is the middle, proper fitting silhouettes. If your jeans are too tight and show your keys or cell phone, you need to get a looser fit, and if you can't button up a jacket without stress on the buttons, again, you need a larger fit. Nick, just like your buddy modified his by ordering extra canvas, you should have the XL tailored to fit. $300 for a jacket that’s too small to button? That’s settling. Don’t settle. OTR garments rarely fit correctly and if they do you must be slim, non athletic (that’s no way to live). Clothes need to fit you and not the other way around. The XL looks good on you AND is 100% functional. Take it to a tailor and it will perfect on you and still be 100% functional.
I am also a similar size than you and lift too much at the gym. As a result the large supply jacket was a bit too tight in the shoulders and chest and a little short in the sleeves. No question. The XL looks better on you. The L looks like a bolero jacket, or quite frankly, a blivet. The whole first part of the review, where you were wearing the L, almost put me off the jacket as I'm what you referred to as a "husky" fellow. Thanks for the review.
Nick, I like the fit of XL... The large looks like your stuffed in it... Also if you wear the large over a heavy flannel it probably won't fit at all... Just my opinion... Not a fan of waxed jackets that don't breath well, I know I've had Filson, Barbour and Orvis... I still think a Herrington jacket is still the coolest jacket of all time...! (AKA Steve McQueen jacket)
Bond literally wears the barbour beacon sports jacket in skyfall but I see you're point, barbour is great for the winter and wet season but when it comes to autumn and spring these jackets are the bomb
I bought the XL over a year ago, lost weight and sized down to a Large, its a little snug but I like how it looks. I own a lot of RgT clothing and this jacket is by far my favorite.
@@sterlingarcher74 Sold it, but I have the Shashiko Cruiser jacket size L if you'd like, its the jacket that sells out within seconds whenever released
I recently purchased a size 42 jacket from Wested Leather and it fits me perfectly. I usually wear size Large or XL in American clothing. If I bought this should I order a Large?
I have one (like the one in the video) and love it. I'm in between sizes (L or XL) and have the XL. The large was just a bit too small and felt I couldn't get a light wool sweater under it comfortably. I tried on the XXL just to check sizing overall and I was swimming in it, so a XL it is. I'm 5' 9" and 205, so oval in shape. A friend's wife said she is stealing the jacket from me.
Right after watching this video I went ahead and ordered the jacket. It just arrived today and I absolutely love it! Keep up the good work and we'll look forward to more videos
I was prepared to hate this video and it turns out I like it quite a lot. I also like this jacket. I am quite slim so this jacket would fit me perfectly.
What really sinks the jacket for me, and why I'd never wear it, is the lack of function. It looks cool here and there, yeah, but the fit is horrible and the pockets that should be designed to help you carry things don't really do that. At the end of the day it's riding on its look more than anything, and it just doesn't look cool enough for me to bother with it. I love waxed canvas and its texture, but don't like its application here overall. I also find that there is a phenomenon where everything looks better on Daniel Craig than anyone else that tries to wear his same style items, so what looks great for him can fall flat in other contexts.
I have this jacket in 15oz denim and I think it's quite good in warm weather. The fit is okay especially for guys with slim body. Thank god I workout 💪
i have one in black. i agree with the white button hole lol aint no one using a pocket watch no more. i had no idea how famous this jacket is. the fit fits very well on me (as do all other RGT clothing for that matter), skinny with broad shoulders. as for the price, i got mine off stag provisions for about 180$ on sale, incredible value imo
its so odd that the james bond producers went into Rivet and Hide, asking them if they have any clothes that suits their needs, this rivet and hide suggested this jacket, LOL who knows, next James Bond could be wearing iron heart in the future
I've noticed a lot of people having preferences for jackets that are more fitted but honestly often look too small to me. I'm pretty athletic and we have pretty identical height/weight/chest measurements. After seeing both jackets on you I would personally definitely get an XL.
I was just having this conversation yesterday haha, I didn't like how much the XL billowed but I should have gotten an XL and had it tailored at the waist, that would have been the right move
I hate to break it too you but the XL fits you perfect and the L is clearly too small, even unbuttoned it's too small. If you were to bend down to pick something up you'd literally get stuck (I'm assuming you couldn't burst this material).
You know the comments are about 60/40 in favor of too small but the thing is the XL billows a lot when unbuttoned because the fabric is so stiff. I think XL tailored might have been perfect even though it felt long in the sleeves
Hey since you mentioned it and your channel does do jacket reviews I’d like to see a Barbour waxes jacket review since there aren’t any reviews as good as yours .

Not a fan of waxed jackets that don't breath well, I know I've had Filson, Barbour and Orvis... I still think a Herrington jacket is still the coolest jacket of all time...! (AKA Steve McQueen jacket)
The armpits are so tight on this jacket
Xl looks way better IMO
Husky guy here(6”1 240) and the XXL fits me perfect
Hey Nick, what’s your height in cm?
Bond literally wears the barbour beacon sports jacket in skyfall but I see you're point, barbour is great for the winter and wet season but when it comes to autumn and spring these jackets are the bomb
That jacket makes you look like you've outgrown it.
yeah the fit is unforgiving. XL billowed too much but i should have kept that one and tailored it. but who wants to buy a jacket you have to tailor!
I bought the XL over a year ago, lost weight and sized down to a Large, its a little snug but I like how it looks. I own a lot of RgT clothing and this jacket is by far my favorite.
If you still have the XL, DM me. I may be interested in taking it off your hands.
@@sterlingarcher74 Sold it, but I have the Shashiko Cruiser jacket size L if you'd like, its the jacket that sells out within seconds whenever released
@@richardcard82 I kind of have my heart set on the supply jacket. Thanks though!
Thanks for the feedback! I guess I could have gotten an XL tailored in at the waist, I just didn't like the way it looked unbuttoned. Blah!
Right after watching this video I went ahead and ordered the jacket. It just arrived today and I absolutely love it! Keep up the good work and we'll look forward to more videos
Awesome! Thank you! Hope you enjoy it for many years dude
I was prepared to hate this video and it turns out I like it quite a lot. I also like this jacket. I am quite slim so this jacket would fit me perfectly.
The bigger one looks miles better on you. Overly tight jackets look naff.
yeah i think i should redo this video to be honest, the larger one was better. i assumed it would stretch because RGT tell you so but it didn't really
@@Stridewise Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not a fan of very tight jackets.
That j.peal commando sweater isn’t cheaper than I thought :(
Ciano Farmer😉
Barbour isn't cool???? what this guy is talking about ??????
What really sinks the jacket for me, and why I'd never wear it, is the lack of function. It looks cool here and there, yeah, but the fit is horrible and the pockets that should be designed to help you carry things don't really do that. At the end of the day it's riding on its look more than anything, and it just doesn't look cool enough for me to bother with it. I love waxed canvas and its texture, but don't like its application here overall. I also find that there is a phenomenon where everything looks better on Daniel Craig than anyone else that tries to wear his same style items, so what looks great for him can fall flat in other contexts.
didnt like this james bond pierce and sean will alwayse be the tru james bond
Eh i like Bradley Mountain’s better.
I stick with denim jacket. That fight was ridiculous😁
I have this jacket in 15oz denim and I think it's quite good in warm weather. The fit is okay especially for guys with slim body. Thank god I workout 💪
Great content, thank you. Do you think it is worth it to buy the lined version?
i have one in black. i agree with the white button hole lol aint no one using a pocket watch no more. i had no idea how famous this jacket is. the fit fits very well on me (as do all other RGT clothing for that matter), skinny with broad shoulders. as for the price, i got mine off stag provisions for about 180$ on sale, incredible value imo
its so odd that the james bond producers went into Rivet and Hide, asking them if they have any clothes that suits their needs, this rivet and hide suggested this jacket, LOL who knows, next James Bond could be wearing iron heart in the future
I’m lucky I bought my chore jacket from Taylor Stitch when they were still made in California! Still not quite broken in 😅
I wish I wasn't a thicc boi because the XXL doesn't fit me well
XL looks way way better on you - I think the L looks too small
yeah shoulda gotten XL and then tailored the waist
I'm not a fan of waxed canvas so I got it in copper canvas. Do to the sleeve length I had to size up and have the body taken in.
@@Stridewise Either one looks good on you really.
Awesome review. Can't beleive you haven't hit 100K yet
The XL looks better - plus you’ll be able to wear another layer underneath
Looks good. Chubby cant pull it off though. 😕
Always a fun review Nick. I think you hyped this thing up a lot, but it was barely in the movie. Much preferred his final outfit anyways though.
Hey since you mentioned it and your channel does do jacket reviews I’d like to see a Barbour waxes jacket review since there aren’t any reviews as good as yours .
The XL fits you way better IMO
I was considering a suede jacket in a tan colour but you have changed my mind
lol and not to get political, but do you see the resemblance of Tony Abbott and Daniel Craig??? LOL
Haha no not at all, Daniel Craig has a big oblong head, Tony Abbott's face is a tall oval, though they both have sharp features
