  • Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is expected to visit the suspected military training base in Masoyi. Police have raided the camp and arrested 95 Libya nationals. The camp which was initially designated as a security training camp has allegedly been converted into a military training base. Commissioner Fannie Masemola has since called for calm.

@@andrevantonder8206 As additional information comes to light, the site in question increasingly resembles a military camp rather than a civilian security training facility. If this assessment proves accurate, there are grounds to question the nature and purpose of this establishment.

    • @andrevantonder8206

@@giadvisory I draw your attention to the training company's marketing material. The advertise their training as "military style" training ... they have been doing this successfully and without issues now for about 15 years and have placed many of their students with private security companies both in SA and abroad.
Now to the camp ... yes, the students are sleeping in canvas tents as that was the easiest way to accommodate a group of that size within the time frame set by the client.
Yes there is a parade ground as the ability to drill is a PSiRA requirement.
Yes, there is a shooting range as accredited firearm training is part of the training.
Yes, there is an obstacle course and rappel tower as that forms part of the military style training.
I honestly don't see the issue here. If I had the funds, I would have loved to have such a training facility.
I am not sure what false information was provided on the visa applications. I have heard that they applied to attend security training and that was exactly what they were getting.

For South Africa, the military STYLE training is necessary for the threat faced in the streets. You cant say learning how to do room clearing or bush survival, you need special clearences. The fact that there were Lybians there is another matter, but all the training there is necessary for the modern security industry in South Africa. I worked in many security companies before and so has everyone els i know who has trained there.
