- The extortion syndicate has also spread to the Gauteng province, specifically in Mamelodi, Tshwane where a group calling itself Boko Haram is terrorising businesses and residents. The group reportedly targets spaza shops, landlords and even taxi operators. Crime expert Calvin Rafadi says syndicates are cults and not dealing decisively with 'role models' has led to the recruitment and establishment of more groups.

Government should ban TV shows like Uzalo. . . .they play significant role.
See youre damn right the amount of guns on free view 📺 is alarming to the point where i started comparing with 🇬🇧 of which I realised its done on purpose by the powers that be. Crime pays and few benefits
All these shows with broken families, cheating and stuff. Edutainment is dying
So true
It won't help
Uzalo is showing us the things that are happening in the real world. Relax
As South Africans, we are becoming useless 😂😂😂😂😂, politicians, home affairs, police officers, and civilians are all corrupt. All we do is talk 😂😂😂😂😂
Not all the apples on the tree are rotten
Sad truth😢 what we excel in is running to social media
No strike, nothing we just look at our country as it falls apart & our loved ones getting murdered 💔
We need to learn from Kenyan youth & join Dudula in numbers because clearly ANC isn't coming to help!!
@revelationmalux3515 Imagine people get killed every day, and we don't do anything. It's like it's not me, so it's okay
The whites ruled south Africa so nice effortless.. The Only downfall was the Rasist issue that was kak.. the Rand was so strong now we are living from hand to mouth most people in SA
Don’t include all of us in that nonsense
Asking businesses to fund the police while government officials keep looting state money is ridiculous.
This guy is so on point !
Lifestyle audits should be mandatory for all implicated individuals ! if they are innocent, they would have no problem.
If not they will be EXPOSED !!
my mom is over sixty, a sister and my beautiful niece. vigilantism is inevitable at this point. this time around i'm prepared to lose my life for my mama.
This guy is very intelligent
I like him he doesn't say allegedly.

This useless political party is an enemy .....not whites. I am convinced
He can hardly speak
Ja he is but he must stop to say it start from initiation school in EC. Becease eyinkwenkwe atsho njalo ,we donot teach gangsterizm ehlathini.
I honestly don't see a point of always talking about this and no police or law enforcement agencies being interviewed and telling us how they are handling this matter. You are giving iddling idiots ideas, hence this is spreading this much to other areas.
They want us to think that they are doing the job, when they are loosing, because these new crimes are just an addition to crimes they did not solve in the past.
Police always say they are working it handling a matter even when they are not. Remember they cant details they will is intelligence n investigation information.
My point exactly, the more they talk without acting the more the idea gets introduced to other criminals to copy the trend
Exactly!
Police are scared as well. I believe they also pay protection fees😂😂😂😂
In Mamelodi they praise criminals.
It’s every Kasi in SA if we being real
@@Tebogo2099cap😂
Even in parliament they praise Ranko.
In South Africa, they praise criminals and still vote for them ! How can you explain people voting for MK, ANC and EFF?!
All townships and as a rural person iv never understood the mindset
John Wick step in 🙏
Unemployment, unemployment is the cause of all this extortionism and next it will be uncontrollable. Our government it seems is clueless when it comes to job creation. As long as black people don't have factories and businesses then we are going nowhere as a country. Hunger and malnutrition will kill many people.
He needs to step in
His no more
where are you John Wick
Where's our boy?
call Commissioner Mkhwanazi of KZN , he will deal with them.
Mr Rafadi is spot on with his knowledge of organised crime. We need more people with his passion to combat crime in South Africa. South Africa needs Gods salvation and our prayers. Excellent interview.
Thank you my good Sir, you made my day 🙏
Ugh. All clever words but no action.
Our grandparents were killed fighting for the current generation to have a better standards of living than them under Apartheid, the ANC came with the worst government than the one during the apartheid era.
I have said the same thing just yesterday on another channel.
@@nelsonchinasamy9857 Within two years our country will be the same as Haiti, captured by criminal gangs.
It is as if we have not had a government since 2018, it's like we live in a jungle.
RamaSofa is by far the worst president ever, I see him losing another 17% of the vote in the 2026 elections.
Ever since RamaSofa took office 6 years ago, the country seems leaderless.
@@biko8229 it wasn't any better under Zuma was it. It was worse because Zuma sold the country to the Guptas and the Guptas and Zuma helped themselves from the Taxpayers kitty.
The community should take matters in their own hands
The problem with Mamelodi is that these criminals are in cahoots with the police, particularly the station commanders. Sometimes the police escort the Boko haram in conducting some of the criminality. Some honest police transferred to other stations outside Mamelodi.
It is not about individuals. Useless ANC government doesn't care
@TsekoMofokeng-v2o its the people at the end of the day. People are corrupt and yes the anc is corrupt but the government doesnt tell people to actively terrorise others and become criminals. The problem with us South africans we can blame anc all we want but its up to us to change our situation
@@katlegolebelo1239 Not entirely correct. Government is the guardian of laws. It must enforce laws, all must fall in. ANC government is not doing that. Is not leveling playing field to be conducive for businesses to invest in Townships. I repeat, you enforce laws. Take you family for example. All must adhere to rules and is not negotiable. Government is not doing enough.
@TsekoMofokeng-v2o although I do agree that the constitutional laws are favoring criminals. We also should be doing our best as to reporting and not glorify such actions. It's the Gnu government now and laws take time to be changed but we are making progress look at KZN, EC, and MP.
@@katlegolebelo1239 A committed government will take less than a year to correct things like you are rightly saying. In ANC government, culture was stealing stealing and stealing. this guy so smart, I can listen to him speak all day
South Africa feels like a real-life action drama movie. It's unbelievable how widespread and rampant crime is. If things are going to get better, we have a long way to go.

That's true. They're everywhere but nobody have courage to speak
I had doubts about this guy having seen him on e-news, but the conviction and thoroughness of his understanding disposed of all of that.

ANC is dying. In 2029, it will be very useless. The good news is that it kicked itself through corruption and. zero patriotism. ANC does not love this country.
And the ANC 'babies'.. who are branches from the ANC..
ANC is sleeping on the bloody job. They're such a disgrace!!!!
It's clear ANC and it's children are the agents of Satan.
Ngenaphi politiki manje
Wow, I’m quite impressed with Calvin’s knowledge of the topic of crime. This shows he has much background and experience in the law enforcement industry as he also mentioned having worked with SAPS’ division in the Pretoria area. Secondly, he also pointed out the simple policing that South Africa is currently not enforcing in terms of fighting crime, to show that our govt is just doing a tick-box exercise with its citizens' lives. A simple interest example could tackle almost three-quarters of our crime headaches but it’s currently not utilized, instead, those people are being protected hence today we have the so-called untouchables in our country simply because they are connected to so and so. @NewzRoom team, Calvin has given you a muscle to use going forward with these politicians and also fact-check these with industry experts.
SAPS has a special task force unit. All they do is sit on their arse and get paid fat salaries.
linjalo ke I K word. and I am black
Well actually there a huge crisis with memebers leaving SAPS special units for private security, its a major concern.
Politicians use them as their bodyguards
If an ordinary citizen can come up with tactics to combat this type of crime, why can’t people whose occupation it is do it? Political will
Very interesting points and views by Kelvin..
Wow Mr Rafadi you nailed it spot on.please give Oom Groenewalt this info.invite Mr Mkhwanazi from Kzn
The government must deploy sandf to assist police to stop this.
“No complainant”?! What fresh hell is this?
It's time to awaken John Wick of Pretoria
What happened to him

This man speaks sense. Military deployment on citizens is not a solution. People who vote for the ANC to power should be ashamed of themselves. Apartheid was bad but ANC is worse.
The communities must now stand up and solve this problem
You cant have thousands upon thousands of men roaming the streets unemployed. And not have these results
Some of them would still resort to illegal activity but I get you.
This people are deeply connected to the anc cheap politicians who are criminals controlling anc branches. The anc is 💯 responsible for this culture, as you can see by how the municipality is run, with most municipality employees recruited from anc branches

ANC is the worst thing to ever come out of this country. The country is crumbling. I'm now tempted to believe that we black know absolutely nothing about governance. Just compare what Japan did in 30 years after Hiroshima with what ANC did in 30 years after Apartheid.

There's nothing that the justice can do with these gangs but only Mphakathi can sort this out so Mphakathi phakamani or else you'll sleep at 6pm
The saddest thing about this kind of topics is, those criminals are known but they are not arrested we only talk about it and do nothing with the criminals.
He is so correct. This thing started with Xhosa youth and everyone that does not see it is ignorant. We have to address this in a serious manner. Wherever you see Xhosa men there you’ll find the prospect of extortion

In Mamelodi they praise gangsters
In most townships if not all, sick mentality
Community can't fight crime but government can because they is one thing we need is to change these useless laws
Useless government. Government from hell
Anc I would never forget the mas they done to our country
The funny and most interesting part of this is that the authorities know everything about these terrorists and are doing nothing about it.
Symptoms of a government not proactive but reactive. The worst sin of this government, it is very slow to deal with issues. Be it electricity, boarders, foreigners etc.
ANC started this nonsense
ANC since under Ramaphosa
Only if NIU can come to Pretoria especially to our township mamelodi it would help alot

Why do they even adopt that detestable and notorious name of bok haram😡.
top notch interview! very insightful s/O
lets forget about youth unemployment in all of this the rich won't sleep because the poor are hungry

If the water mafia is rife in the country why they are not aprended while the trucks are delivering the water, I see many trucks on the roads driving freely without fear, government should stop with the excuses 🤔🤔
The problem is lawlessness and corruption. It'll always take different forms but it's the same old problem. And it starts from above. The powerful in our country and community are killing us. It's not unemployment, it's greed. Some of the people were working but left their jobs to do this non...se.
Police law enforcement are not well being taken good care of...im a former cop myself in Botswana and u give me a shout, will tell u the reasons...a lot need to be done in the law enforcement agencies...education is also not embraced and this leaves a lot to be desired..
You are right. It reminds me of former Bop, it took care of its law-enforcement officials to a point that it was called a police state, cause they were so effective in combating crime.
Taxi industry being terrorized in Joburg it's a joke.

Now all these people are saying politicians are involved but during the elections these issues were not raised.
It started in gauteng a long time ago. Please also remember that the minister says they have been funding political parties for years. 😊
The truth here, pity our Government wont do anything
If we neglect our youths to do as they wish, and allow them to seat alone in small groups in our villages . There's no doubt unemployment is another great challenge. Really weneed some kind of a solution.

Organized crime syndicates are possible only through involvement with politicians, police and lawyers. They simply cannot exist in an environment where those three players have integrity.
Quite frankly I have lost hope in my country and I know corruption exists in every corner of the world but SA? It’s beyond us at this point
