    This is a beautiful set of needles , that being said they are so far out of my price range they may as well be manufactured, distributed, and used on a far off distant planet 🪐

    Thanks for the shout-out at the end! I do take my knitting tools very seriously. For those of you who don’t know, because I don’t think Marly mentioned it (thanks for that) I use a wheelchair full time and have cerebral palsy. For me this also means I have a lot of fine motor dexterity limitations with my hands, and I have a lot of joint and muscular pain. (Getting old sucks, no matter what.) Anyway, given my limitations, I am very choosy about the tools I love. I actually wind up buying a lot of different things because most of the time it’s the only way to try them. And l have had a LOT of fails. But expensive or not, these needles are the ONLY ones that have never come apart on me. Are they perfect? No. Do they cost too much? Debatable. I could do without all the extras but I love the way they’re packaged all together. It makes a perfect “to-go” kit, even though since the pandemic I don’t really knit in public too often anymore. I bought the Forte ver. 1 set secondhand from someone who didn’t love them, and liked them so much that when the 2.0 set came out I pre-ordered them from one of my local(ish) yarn shops. Except for the occasional fixed needle that I might choose for a specific project, these might well be the only interchangeables I ever use. I should really sell all the others. Man, I have so many, many needles, from trying, and not finding, things that I could use.

    Thank you for your great video and cost analysis breakdown. I bought and just received the Forté 2.0 and really love it. I’m knitting my first shawl with it using US13 and love the needles (using Christmas bulky yarn from my daughter). I really like having everything in one case as it’s so handy. I’m Canadian, and our sets are a lot more, but when I compared the individual cord and needle costs (Cdn $$), plus accessories, I was pleasantly surprised to see that even our high price is still lower than the individual prices. I also have the shorty sets and would highly recommend them for anything small.

    This needle set looks great. I have the regular Diel set and I despise that inefficient cheap, black and white case. It does the job but it’s so flimsy and the needles are so good. I appreciate your really honest and I repeat honest review. So manypodcasts are so noncommittal on giving an opinion. It’s just one person’s opinion but it’s nice to know what you’re real opinion is rather than just gushing all over a product. Thank you so much appreciate it.

    Thank you so much for your review! I am certainly on the hunt for a set of beautiful wood needles like these as I just purchased the newly released Lantern Moon interchangeables and am deeply disappointed in them. They are NOT the old Lantern Moons. A size 5 literally crumbled in my hands during the first project and even after just a few rows the tips were getting pitted and gummy. And Lantern Moon, though they grudgingly replaced my needle, said they wouldn't do it for anyone else and claimed these are not covered by the warranty because they don't consider these manufacturing defects! I was shocked. But I love all the ChiaGoos I have so maybe I'll be fortunate and win a set of these beautiful needles.

    Love my Chiagoo twist interchangeable needles. I have seen shorties and would love to see a video on them! I originally bought a 4 inch set and wish I had gotten the 5 inch. Over time I am getting the 5 inch as needed not certain if need to buy a whole new set. Thanks for this info! I was excited about them at first but the only reason to buy is the case. I love the case they come in. Wish Chaigoo would offer case for twist ❤️

    I missed the live but I've seen another youtuber review this new version of this set so I can't wait to see how much the same or different your review is from his review. I bought these as my first set because I knew if I got cheap one I would get frustrated and quit. I am still getting frustrated but for that money I am NOT quitting! So it will probably save me in the long run because I keep starting, quitting and giving my stuff away and they starting again. Now I will just keep theses forever. Buuut I do need a second set so I have back ups and I am weird and if I use something I do not like using a different kind after that. I would love to win. I would for sure never give up. I AM taking your boot camp so I can be bi crafty. I crochet now.

But your review has also calmed down my FOMO for these. I love Chaigoo so much and want all the things. I actually prefer carbon body. But sometimes I like wood, sometimes metal. I definitely prefer metal tip at least.

    Love this video! I have the OG Forte set and love it. I did break my smallest needle and they replaced both tips as by then they were transitioning to the carbon tips. I would like to be able to buy the complete set for the smaller sizes. They are a slightly different color. Hopefully they will offer them someday. I went searching through my 1.0 to see if I had that extra cable ..no such luck. But that is for letting me know that they are interchangeable…I was wondering that.

    I am someone who likes to knit with longer needles and so none of the popular brands suit me. However there is an American made brand called Gold Tips that have 6 inch needles, long tapered points, swivel cords that are a thinner version of the red ChiaoGoo cords. The needles come in a neat real leather zip up case. For those people who are happy with shorter needles the Chia Goo needles are great quality.

    Thank you for your honest review of the Chiaogoo needles. This is the first review I've come across for them. Thank you for mentioned those of us with arthritis- yes, wood needles are better for my hands. The fact that you have to have separate cord sets for the small needle tips vs the larger tips really makes no sense and the extra notions wouldn't really sway me (I already have enough I can't keep track of...lol).
    I prefer Lykke Craft needles (have their sets- DPNs, straight, and IC in driftwood). I did not care for the cords that come with the Lykke IC, but I switched out to the Mindful Collection swivel cords and really like those compared to the ones that came with my IC set.
    I wanted to see what other options there were from a trusted, experienced person (if you haven't figured it out- You, Miss Marly!).

But I sure would not be opposed to owning it, if I were to win it. It not, I am hoping eventually to purchase the new tips and hope to be able to purchase all the sizes. • @maryarneson5815

    My take on the Forte needles, the smaller more common sizes are carbon, nearly identical tidal to knit pro/knitters pride carbons for less than 1/4 the price, the larger sized needles are made from African blackwood which is an endangered wood. I've heard claims they're made from reclaimed wood, but I've also been told they're made in the US when their website clearly states they're made in China, I'm curious though to mass market a needle set manufactured from endangered wood. And claim its all reclaimed. Sure.... and then charge as much as they are????? Seems like a marketing scheme that is reliant upon the influencer game and the apparent high school level behavior that has taken over that we must have the perfect instagrammable tools and equiptment and .... everything that the influencers have, except the influencer get given them for free so they can peddle them to the masses.

      Hmm, did you watch my unboxing?

    • @maryarneson5815
      @maryarneson5815 8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes a large portion of it, the pricing breakdowns or piece by piece a person could do with virtually any needle set on the market. And they all ring in the same ballpark per piece. I just think if chiagoo is going to sell a "premium" mass market item, they'd go beyond carbon and an endangered wood. Yes I can see people buying the most expensive thing available to say be able to say they have it, that's how the world works. But to me this set is proof positive price does not equate to quality...

  • @lolam.9291
    @lolam.9291 8 месяцев назад +1

    Sorry, but these are not worth the price. I will stick with my Twist red lace and shorties. I guess, if you wanna pay extra for a pair of scissors and the case, then sure, why not.

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  8 месяцев назад +1

      As I said in the video, if you were to JUST BUY THE TIPS, assuming they were available and assuming they were the same price as the lowest priced tips available now, the cost would be over $250 just for the tips. Couple that with the cost of the cords provided in the kit totaling almost $100 and you can see that purchasing the kit is more cost effective than purchasing individually.
      It all comes down to if these are the types of needles you want. If they are, then the price is worth it.
      But if these needles are not anything you would want, then the price will always be more than you’re willing to spend.
      What might not be worth it to you, is 100% worth it to someone else :)
