    CRISP & CLEAN describes this expression to a tee.
    I've heard Miyagikyo contains a portion of LIGHTLY peated malt, and I do get that on the palate. Sweet, fruity & spicy. Absolutely wonderful single malt.

      Good to know there is peat in it. So I'm not going crazy. Yoichi single malt is up next.

    I really love this - glad to see that you enjoy it as well. It's delicate but complex, always fun to have and pull apart a bit. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks. I definitely enjoyed this one. Yoichi review is up next.

    I've been wondering about this specific Nikka expression. Will have to try it out sometime. Great review!

    Thanks for the Japanese whisky review.
    You can buy it in Japan for about half the price!

      I see the prices of Japanese whisky in Japan and I'm shocked to see how much more expensive it is here in the states.

    Leave it to the Japanese to make a screw top sound expensive. Nikka is really good at most things they do and this is no exception. I'm sad to hear that their prices are about to skyrocket....December 2023 rumor.....but prices are still good here in Alberta. This bottle cost me $56USD locally. Love your reviews Peter.....have a Merry Christmas.

    Great timing on this one mate, I have been eying off and deciding if I should grab a bottle of this and the Yoichi to compare. Recently had Nikka Coffey Malt for the first time and was surprised with it in a good way.

      My Yoichi review is coming out next Monday. Speaking of timing...I have a Sip It or Skip it coming out tomorrow with the GlenAllachie 12 coming off the heels of my comments on your GlenAllachie 15 review.

    It's pronounced mi-YA-ghi-kio. The first three syllables are the same as the name of Pat Morita's character in the Karate Kid; Mr. Miyagi. The fourth syllable sounds like the Irish surname, Keough. (There was a Matt Keough who pitched for the A's in the mid 80's.)
    By the way, your taste descriptions are very descriptive; kudos!
    As you stated in the video, Nikka has two distilleries; Miyagikyo and Yoichi. Yoichi is definitely a peaty distillery. In fact, it was created with the specific intent to make peaty whiskies. It's only by comparison that Miyagikyo is not the peaty distillery. But that doesn't mean expressions from Miyagikyo aren't a little peaty. So when they say Miyagikyo is not a peaty whisky, what they're really saying is Yoichi is the distillery in charge of making peaty whisky, not Miyagikyo.

      That's all great information. And the way you broke down the pronunciation of the name was fantastic. Thanks!

    Half of my to buy list is from you lol. I'm waiting awhile to try peated whiskey would you say Miyagikyo is a gateway to peat or is it the wrong smoke?

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  7 месяцев назад +1

      I can't answer that because I don't have the peated Miyagikyo my bottle is the unpeated version. Hibiki is ever so slightly peated and the Yoichi is slightly more peated then that. So if you were looking for a Japanese whisky to start off with I would say try those first and see what you think.

  • @AETsui
    @AETsui Год назад +1

    It’s light peated.
