'There is Another' method of lip movements where the person talks , their mouths are partially open throughout a dialog only close when they take a pause in their sentences or finish talking. I saw this in a RUclips 2-D animation Lion King AU series called My Pride; I don't know if it works for 3-D animation like yours but check out the series and see if it will work.
