Hi Yvonne, I'm a 76 year old chap from the UK and I've just discovered wire wrapped jewellery as well as your Dragons eye tutorials. It keeps the fingers nimble and the mind concentrated. I think your tutorials a just great, your doughnut tutorial was an inspiration, many thanks for showing us all how it is done.
That is so beautiful. I just discovered wire wrapping. You are a great teacher. I have ordered some tools and can't wait to give this a try. Thank you.
Hi Yvonne, you are a brilliant teacher and lovely person. I have made 3 of these now and really happy with them thanks to you. I love all your tutorials and have learnt so much from your wire work ones, having only started a couple of months ago you have been an inspiration, thank you. Love Angie
After writing that long long message, I started looking through your actual page and realised that I've been following you for ages! 😂😂😂 I've just always watched the polymer vids. Lol xx
It seems like every time I find a really cool bead or something I never know what I am going to do with it and then ta da, you upload a video that gives me inspiration. Thank you you so much!!!!!!!!
I finally found this tutorial! This is what I was looking for. I have a howlite donut bead that I've been trying to do something with for years. Thank you for all your videos and tutorials!
I have done a few donuts to but this is such a wonderfull way of wiring them, I love it and am deffinetly gonna give it a go too !!!! Thanks again for your great work but also your positive energy !!!
I absolutely love it 💕 Your videos are really good and you have a brilliant teaching style. I'm so so glad that I found you as I've always wanted to learn how to do wirework. I can do the basics....I did a jewellery course. I also work with polymer clay so can incorporate the 2. I already have loads of wire in different colours and a big box with thousands of beads lol. Many Thanks for sharing your talents with us. Xxx
Happy to see you get this one posted. My donuts have way smaller holes but I think I can still use the same concept. I've got a few pendants done I need to get posted and tagged on Instagram (MAH_Studio) that were inspired by watching and learning from you! Sometimes I put on the live streams and convention streams while I'm working just because I love to watch you and Randy! Hopefully, now that I'm done with school, I can start catching your live streams live LOL! Colder weather may see me working more with polymer clay for a few months as the wire can be really hard on my hands...but I've plenty of inspiration from you in that area as well! Catch you soon!
I found this video and it revealed the mystery of wire wrapping for me. Now... I don't do anything simple so I need some guidance to wire wrap a 55mm donut. What length of wire would I need to make this design for a large 55mm donut? Your videos are very clear and easy to follow. HELP
Hello, Hallie! For this particular design I would start with two feet (that should be more than enough) of core wire and 8ft of thin wire for coiling. Both of these are generous amounts, but if you're using bare or enameled copper its really nice to have the luxury of some extra wire to play around with. For core wire I recommend 18 or 16ga, and for coiling I personally like 24, 26, or 28ga. I hope this is helpful to you!
Can more be added to this once this is complete? Maybe brassy colored wire rose or something along those lines..? Would love to center something in the hole there.
I tried this rap this morning and it turned out pretty good very happy with it. Also I’m trying to antique some of my pieces, and it’s not working. I use warm water five or six drops and nothing is happening. Is there any advice that you could give to me
Wondering if you, Yvonne...or anybody else..might have some advice for fingers being shredded and dried out from wire wrapping? I’d really appreciate any feedback because my fingers are peeling deeply and making it really hard to do much of anything. Thank you in advance...
Hey, Jamie! I use vitamin e oil on my hands before bed each night; it helps condition my callouses to be firm without cracking, which lets me wire wrap for longer. But even after wrapping for a decade, my hands have their limits. Be patient and listen to your body; your callouses will build up and you'll develop your own technique for holding and manipulating the wire :)
Yvonne Williams thank you so much for the tip. Of any wire wrapper on RUclips, your fingers seem to be the least hammered by the work. Trusting that, my husband brought me a bottle of vitamin e and I’m using it twice per day presently. Hope I can get down to once per day soon. ☺️
Hey Vonne, I was wondering if you could do a decorative belt buckle tutorial, with polymer clay and a wire base. I have to make a large decorative belt buckle for a Santa Clause pillow. I don't know where to start. It has to have a rectangular frame and a vertical bar through the middle.
