I have a question, I have traveled to the USA. it's 14hr nonstop flight from Dubai to NY. after half of the way Atlantic ocean is started. Seven plane seven hours fly above the ocean. In case if such type emergency happened how the pilot will handle. Because there is a no chance to land. Kindly explain
Very good question. Most of the aspects regarding your question are covered in my video on Qantas aircraft emergency. Flight planning for these oceanic flights are done considering normal flying time, weather deviations and diversion to alternate aerodrome which keeps them safe. Now if aircraft ability of normal flight is hampered, then it is the best response based on SOP as decided by the Captain. During this time they will try to land at any of the nearest suitable airport. It may be on any island, or any base or any nearest place. This becomes the test of pilot skills. Regards
