Texas Hiking: Guadalupe Peak, the Texas State High Point, Guadalupe Mountains NP, TX.
As a hiker visiting Texas, climbing its high point was something mandatory. I took on the challenge, after all, it is a mountain much like other hikes I have done. It was an unseasonably cool day in July with fog. I took advantage of the cool summer weather to make the ascent (if it was a hot day, I still would have made the climb anyway, since I only had one day to do it). Hopefully I can come back sometime and spend much more time hiking through Texas. However, that seems more like something that would have to wait for the retirement years.
