Thank you for taking the time early on to really talk through the 17 logic. I’m still new and this is where I got stuck for a very long time. It was nice to get unstuck but even better to understand how to apply that logic for next time.
I did it without finding the 17 pair. At 4:30, the 9 in R2C7 forces a 9 in box 2 in the top row, which places a 9 in R3C1. This gives most of the digits in box 1.
This was a quick solve for me as well. I followed a different path than you, but the highlights were similar. -- spoiler follows -- - - - - - - While I followed a different path, I used the paired twos in boxes 7 and 8 (you found this at 9:14) to mark the 2 at r7c9 in box 9. Like you, the top band leftmost stack were nearly done early on in my solve. When I found the 2 in box 9, my solve immediately collapsed. My time was a bit over 18 minutes.
I needed an empty rectangle to solve this. Really eager to see how you solve this without esoteric methods. I found the 17 pair straight away (17 in R2 points up, so I didn't need the pair from analyzing R2) I did miss the pointing sixes in box 6, resolved that with an empty rectangle in sixes, which removed 6 fom R4C8
I enjoy these videos! Do you have videos of the daily challenges from the sudoku app? The one yesterday had me stumped. I think it needed use of x wings and other methods.

Glad it was helpful!
