No position in your introduction Solution: Write your position in the introduction & conclusion 6. Not developed Ideas Solution: 1). Hello sir, my heartfelt thanks for your useful tips and advice. I have a question regarding doing the writing section on test day, would you recommend starting with task 2 before task 1? I have seen a lot of students do that, suggesting that it will help in making you focused on writing task 2 as it’s more challenging and it demands a lot of time, thus you’ll be able to score higher if you followed this method.

Hi, Eli. Thanks for the video. I work as an IELTS tutor and an academic advisor at the online school that prepares students for IELTS and some other international exams. As we have had a large number of students for five years, we could see many issues that might not be so obvious for individual tutors. The thing is that we often face cases when advanced students get 6.5 in the Writing part while students with a pretty low level of English provided they are hard-working and disciplined can reach band 6.0. To be perfectly honest, they often rely on mechanical tips and cliches. And it works! Let me show a couple of the latest examples from July's exams. Student A: L, R, S - 7.5, W - 6.5; Student B - L - 4, R - 4.5, S - 5.5, W - 6.0. And if we take Writing, it may look like there is a half band between Student A and Student B, but in fact, (I had an opportunity to work with both of them), there is a huge gap between their English. Believe me, we teach everything you highlighted in the video. There is nothing we miss out on in our preparation programme. Sadly, both teachers and advanced students end up feeling very frustrated. As a result, some students quit IELTS and try other international exams. I know, I know. We can't see what our students really produced under exam conditions. However, we haven't had the same unpleasant feeling about Listening and Reading. Speaking results can also appear a bit unexpected, but with Writing, it's the most worrying phenomenon.
