Dude there's a silvertone semihollow singlcut husk, for 600 bucks on reverb you should just make a metal semi hollow just get locking sperzels, and seymour duncan blackouts and that would be frickin cool
The kirk hammett ESP KH1 flying v with the single pickup that he used in the early 90s is my personal favorite guitar he ever used. Seeing the spider guitar brings me back to the early 90s as a kid watching the live shit box set and studying kirk while trying to learn his songs... before the internet and download able tabs. Even went to my local guitar shop and bought the black album tabs booklet lol.
The "spider" theme I believe comes from the Pushead art that was made specifically for this guitar. The headstock is a variant of a Gibson Melody Maker. Can't wait for mine to arrive!
@@jadensimmons6646 t60s come stock with coil splits and a phase switch, first 5 on tone is a single coil, second 5 is a humbucker, and theyre 1meg pots i believe rather than 500k or 250k, but some of them are a jumbled up mess lmao. Id reccomend keeping stock electronics, but sending the pickups in to get rewound. Guitarmory is a great place to get that done for metal
The Cort isn't a "shot at Ibanez," it pretty much IS an Ibanez Premium AZ, just with the different branding on the headstock (since Cor-Tek makes all the Indonesian Ibbys, despite Hoshino-Gakki's claims that they "own" their own "Premium" Indonesian factory, it's just a section of the Cor-Tek facility). It's just their in-house version. Kinda like what Fujigen does with their FGN label-- They've got some models which are their in-house riff on the Prestige AZs that they make for Ibanez (the JOS and EOS models).
Cort makes more than 50% of guitars in yhe world on a yearly basis for a while now, strange that people aren't aware of that, sure those guitars have different names on the headstock but they are made at the same factory ranging from cheap pieces of junk to premium grade asian made instruments that are great in every way
3 holes are standard in the legs of trembucker versions of Seymour Duncans. That's why it's not in the neck pup. If you use the outer holes, it allows you to adjust the tilt angle of the pickup 👍
I absolutely love the KH3, seen a few on reverb that I'd love to get my hands on but the wife laughed and said no... I should mention I just bought an Axe FX 3 so... that no was probably justified. 😆
As soon as I was about half way through your first video on that Gibson resto-mod, I figured it would become a LOT harder to find anything like that. Everyone's going to want to do that now. Like in some of the other comments though, I hope you can find an old (good) B.C. Rich for your next project.
I have an idea, mabye you could do like every so often picking a subscriber guitar to upgrade with modern specs or something and then give it back and have them record their first impressions and mabye write something with it
I picked up an old (15+ years old) LTD KH-203 recently. No spider graphic on the body thankfully. The Floyd special was trashed, and it had EMG HZ-4’s. I replaced the Floyd with a stainless steel Gotoh and the pickups with his autographed Bone Breakers. It’s a great guitar now.
Those three screw holes are in all Trembucker pickups; Duncan puts them in because a lot of Fender humbuckers will have 2 screws on one side so it makes retrofitting to a Strat easier.
I would love to see a restomod of one of those old Squier Showmaster 7 strings. Pretty easy on the wallet and a lot of them are in serious need of some love. Plus it's just cool to see a mass produced 7 string Fender product
Great video. Just wanted to mention that the headstock shape of the KH3 model is most likely not an aesthetic detail but rather a functional one.... the shape is a side effect of the break angle of the strings through the nut. We know our man Kirk is generally playing 6-in-line guitars where the strings go straight through the locking Floyd nut to the tuning posts with little or no break angle. A Gibson or Eclipse style headstock shape would create a break angle that might not work so well with the Floyd nut in Kirk's opinion (though it doesn't seem to bother Gary Holt on his model). Just speculating. Keep up the good work.
I had no idea that Fishman produced the Fluence models in an open bobbin configuration! All models, or just the classics? Hmmm. I might have to finally give them a try!
I have an Epiphone Les Paul that fell and broke about 20 years ago where the neck and fretboard glue together just under the first fret. I think I might have tried to manually widen the holes for some locking tuners too and screwed that up. I also might have expiremented on it for swapping pickup in and out and stuff, otherwise everything else works on it. Still has the pots and wires.
The headstock on that LTD is horrible. Not a fan of the graphic either, but that seems to be Kirk's thing... However that Jackson is beautiful! When I was a teen, I really wanted a Jackson with the 3x3 headstock, it looked so badass!
Which one first? I'm for the Cort. Reason is that one of my Ibanez guitars was made by Cort in February, 2001(!), which makes it vintage as of a couple of months ago! This was one of the RGs that Ibanez starting getting from South Korea after their (obviously) successful run of EXs. (I don't know it, but my EX was likely made by Cort also.) You could say that this is my way of showing brand loyalty. I'd like to see the Hammett sig soon, also. Many props and much respect to Metallica! Not as big a fan as you, but the fact that they've been around this long speaks -- loudly -- for itself!😎❤️️🎸‼️
My old Greco Les Paul Custom needs a refret, the frets are very low, I think it may be a fretless wonder.. Great for fast playing but you gotta dig in to do some bends..
Now you got me worrying about whether or not my acoustic guitar is in trouble now, since it's always bloody humid where I live (Netherlands) ... not that I play acoustic much anyways
That Cort more HB then Iby IMO. But since they likely build both ... As for "bring them back from the dead" project ... let me see if an old "lawsuit era" S type still lurks in my collection. The problem is ... it might not be dead enough for your needs ;)
Hey I love the show, good angles and content. So I researched the ESP LTD KH3 reissue, don’t see anywhere that they are stainless steel frets. If that information in the spec sheet? It’s lot on Sweetwater or ESP website. Thanks
The cort’s Bj is what I believe to be a trembucker they have six holes for string to pickup angle adjustment idk why they don’t do it on their standard pickups as well.
Looking forward to the Cort. I’ve heard good things. That glue bubble makes me question what I’ve heard though. How did the guy setting it up not see that?
Yay - more Wendell - Resto-mods are really my jam at the moment. Take something old-ish, unloved and do the 6-million Dollar man on it so that it can be played for another 20/30/40+ years. The thought that so many guitars end up as firewood makes me sad.
Make a playing demo with the KH-3 i looks amazing! i am 99% convinced to buy it and i am waiting for a playing demo and in depth review of it first. Please let us hear it, at least at your instagram page! thanks
Am i the only one that thought the deal on fixing someone s guitar was not to sell it but just to have it fixed and get it back for free while he gets the views likes and what not. He s basically browsing for vintage guitars , well done dude. (Pardon my English)
I actually have a cheap epiphone special 2 just because it has the same slim les paul body as the kirk esp guitar. Though the ltd and/or esp version is the real deal. Oh, yeah with the exception that the epiphone is a extreme low end guitar it also have no trem.
Hopefully I get good enough to the point where I can get that KH3! (I literally started playing guitar a few months ago and my fingers are too pathetic to even play chords)
So upon further review, those are nickel frets on the kirk hammet and not stainless steel. Just contacted esp and they confirmed they are nickel on that model. So there goes that. Really tempted to get it if it had stainless steel but now knowing it doesn't I'm less enthused about it🙄
Can you restore my bc rich mockingbird i'm too lazy to fix up? I actually have all the stuff lol. Bought it off a friend for super cheap, bridge pickup doesn't work and the nut fell off when I took the strings off, i think its a limited edition because it has this like metal pickguard thing that's attached to the bridge.

Nice Juan, great video!
The flat top with the goofy headstock is because it's based on the Gibson Melody Maker if I'm not mistaken.

Think I was more excited seeing the Liverpool FC scarf ❤️ but that KH-3 is insane.
The headstock was Kirk's homage to a Les Paul junior.
Dude that resto-mod video was amazing.
I am so excited for this! Have a great day and keep on keeping on dude!

there is already a guy doing this though. Called Trash to Thrash.

Hopefully I’ll catch up to you soon on that 99k!

I was rewatching the high intergrity strat video when I got the notification for this one lmao

Wow! I also had an ESP arrive just 3 hours ago. Totally bought it for the Hammet sound.

Yes!! You got the g300 pro! I was hoping you'd get one to review. They are high on my list of next guitars.

Ohhhh ok cool, makes sense! Guess all the superstrats I’ve tried had the non-trembucker versions.

I always assumed that the headstock and slab body of that Kirk model was a nod to an old Gibson Melody maker.
