truongphan90 She hit g#5... which is higher than the album version. Did the high note sound bad to you? To me, it was the 'beyond perfect' part of this performance. I mean, the rest is at perfection.... lol
With such muddy recording we cant hear all that clear. Imma a sound guy and there's no arguing the unedited mix is muddy... I still politely disagree again.
I've never knew Mariah before so basically im not a fan of her, but all of this has changed when I accidentally played her song "Hero" on my brother's phone. As I listening the song, there's something I felt inside me which I couldn't explain. The song got my heart and of course Mariah Carey. So I started to listen all of her songs and I realized how beautiful her voice is and how excellent is she as I singer. Im a great fan of you Mariah Carey 😍
@@jimmyv8238 You are mad. A G5 won't differentiate between a good performance and a perfect one. Go and watch Rotterdam, Paris and Capitol Hill if a G5 is so important for you
This was filmed in late 1995 as a standalone concert. It was the first time she transposed the song down from its original key. Mariah didn't begin incorporating F#5 and G5 notes into her "Hero" arrangement until the Daydream Tour in 1996.
GiuseppePascuale928 I don't know... that high note sounds like a super quick g#5. The Tokyo dome performance from 96' is absolutely amazing... I do agree with Ari.
Thanks for clarifying when the key change began. I discovered after my original post that she performed it in the original key whilst promoting the single and on the Music Box Tour in 1993 but first lowered the key at St. John the Divine in 1994.
Why do people care so much about the key is high or low... the point is can you sing like her? NO! Can you better than her? HELL NO! So shut up and enjoy this beautiful performance. This is one time and we never find someone sing so effortlestly perfect like her.
Surely 1995-1996 was her prime. Watching her hero lives since she was promoting the music box album you can crearly see that she reached her mark here. Daydream era, even thought it's a underrated era in its time, today we can figure out that she find herself there.
Rowan W To be technical, the term dubbed in music is a sort of layering. I don't get what this person is saying as well. This video is of the undubbed vocals. The polished version is this live vocal track dubbed with another live performance. I think it's the 96' Tokyo performance.
I dont know if the intention of this video is that we think that she´s a bad singer, but when the song ends I just think... she sounds amazing. A mini second doesn't matter when she makes you feel in heaven 4 minutes!!!!!
Julian Candra Mariah as well as her team wanted to picture her as vocal perfection. She is incredible but not perfect...this adds to her self-consiousness about her voice.
but the run was better in this version. they destroyed the run in the dubbed version. it sounds worse there and soooo much better here. i would understand if they would've dubbed it to make it sound better (not possible), but they made it actually sound worse.
MCsVoice97 no. *they* as in columbia/sony. as in the same people that planted a seed of insecurity in mariah to the point that she didn't even think her peerless daydream vocals were good enough when in reality that just wasn't the truth.
@luisjla She did the note here, its hard to hear but it here. She did it at tokyo, rotterdam, london, paris and peace officers memorial. She was in great voice in this era, she didnt start having consistent rough vocal days until 1997 mainly.
It seems as if she touched the G#5 and then descended back down to an F5. Which proves that she did in fact go back in the studio and dub everything over. I hate to admit it, but this is just something that Mariah has always done.
+GeneralRelativity Yeah i just relistened a couple more times to compare and this one she goes high then low. And in the dubbed she just soars way higher. It could just be different performances idk
I think maybe they do different takes on songs and pick what more flattering and combine those into one video. I think i see that on other song before they do many takes of her singing the song over and over.
They added a robotic flavor to the dubbed performances, I was fascinated by those robotic notes on the dubbed versions, I am just a little disappointed cause All the robotic notes I used to be obsessed with were in fact dubbed, it is not here, but DONT get me wrong, that was FUCKING brilliant, OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!

even better than dubbed!
