@Zulmoka it's called character devolution. When the writers begin running out of ways to progress the plot, character devolve to a far more stereotypical and simplistic form of their main personality. Just look at Patrick Star and Cosmo....... you'll see what I mean

It's not just you, Mr Burns sounds totally different and I am stunned they would do this. Homer has been sounding very old and unhealthy lately, and they've already got rid of the voices of Apu, Hibbert, Carl, etc, but for me changing Burns is the last straw. It's over. RIP Simpsons. They either need to get in some young voice actors who can nail the impression, or forget about it. I can do a better Homer and Mr Burns than these voices.

@@Josuh Yes there is that but that’s what ruins a series for a lot of fans, the creators see profit and that takes over all the love and hard work that went into the old series. Episodes or series loose their charm and just become monotonous and distasteful.

Thats because its a complete sham. They may not be heinous garbage, which is an improvement, but 'good' is a huge stretch. Everyone's always chasing a redemption arc these days and they so gladly jump the gun.

I was gonna post asking when does everyone think The Simpsons will fall foul of the Disney cost cutting measures... BUT I looked it up and even though it costs a minimum of $110 million per year to create a season of The Simpsons, it generates over $2 billion dollars a year in revenue so... I guess Disney will just prop up the voice actors in skin suits before letting the show get canceled or end.
Idk about the rest of the season, but regardless of aging of voice cast (and some recasting) at least this LifeBOAT episode seems really interesting and watchworthy judging to these individual clips. Guess they didn't exaggerate when they say that Simpsons are good again after all

They might have clips for all the individual words they need, but that'll just sound like a text-to-speech device. They still needed a voice actor to make whole sentences and conversations sound natural in new contexts.
I love how in the beginning Homer was relatively intelligent and as the series progressed they made him as dumb as Peter then come around season 20, Homer's intelligence slowly began to go back up.
