Oh my goodness!!! You delivered so many different ways to help us! You are WONDERFUL! And to all of us practicing - good job! But don't over-do it. Remember: since we've never spoken French before, we've never had to make these sounds our use these muscles. So, it's like going to the GYM for the first time - for your mouth and throat! We'll be sore for a while, but then, we'll be so strong with our French pronunciation! That's why people have accents. Their mouths aren't used to making certain sounds, so they just make the sounds they are used to. All it takes is practice until it feels natural to your muscles... Muscle memory! I got motivated to learn french , few days ago. But after seeing the pronunciation, am thinking to leave. But the only thing that stops me to leave learning french is that I will have to learn this as it can create my career. A problem of some days can you a better life. I will suggest them , who are thinking to leave learning french , don't stop guys . Tell yourself that you can do anything. Good luck ,!
Good for practice and thanks for the lesson, but gotta point out that it's not a vibration of the throat or the chest that produces this sound, but that of just the uvula (back of the mouth). So you need to constrict the back of the mouth by bringing the tongue closer to the uvula and then gently pass air to make the uvula vibrate. You don't need too much air. It's not aggressive at all. This explains all the comments about the sore throat or hoarse voice after practicing this. Once you know where the back of the tongue should be positioned to make the sound (you can make the ga sound to notice how to push back the tongue) and then try slightly different positioning of the tongue until you get the clean French R sound. What helped me was listening to Edith Piaf and trying to imitate her R sound. Eventually I was able to do it. Also, you should know that there are several different Rs based on the placement of the R in the word and this youtube video is excellent for practicing all those kinds of R. My only criticism is regarding the method of production of the sound which is linguistically incorrect.
I find it easier to do when it starts with there's a letter like 'c' or 'g' before the 'r' sound. For example, "crier" is a lot easier for me to say than "droite" or "bras".
What i3ssiZm0re said and also what you've recognized is the difference between the voiceless and the voiced uvular frigative (french R). Look it up, that will make things clear.
The French R pronunciation is similar to our R pronunciation (Sarawakian Malay). That is why I don't have much problem trying to pronounce the letter when I learn French.
Something that I'm doing (I'm not sure if its right but I think is helping) is placing the tip of my tongue at the base of my lower teeth or a little lower
I am not learning french, but yesterday when I went sleeping I somehow pronounced this R and now I am watching videos on how to trill, cause I can't do it anymore.
The letter R in French is pronounced not exactly at the back of the throat, but at the uvula. There are two ways of doing it: the uvular fricative (ʁ) and the trill (ʀ).
to anyone who's struggling, the letter "h" can be compared to the French R because it has the same air in the mouth, i also recommend putting your tongue behind your bottom front teeth. i also saw the guy in the vid do that too so i hope that helps! with practice it eventually becomes less hard
I found that it's a lot easier to pronounce if you take a breath before and force the air through your throat with your diaphragm and stomach muscles when you're saying the R.
You're trying too hard. Take the back of your tongue close to the uvula (the ga sound should help you position the tongue correctly) and then gently pass air to make the sound. It shouldn't need an aggressive blowing to make as is mentioned in this video. It's actually super easy, just a little tricky. So if you figure out the trick then you can produce it easily.

You don’t want to use the phrase _C’est quoi …._ It is rude. You’re essentially saying “What the hell” or “What the fuck,” so _C’est quoi la différence entre … ?_ = What the fuck is the difference between …? Instead, use _Quel est …_ or _Qu’est-ce que …._

My Brother said you don't remember things when you are bored, so when I have nightmares I quickly remember things cause I had nightmares about it. I find it easier to do when it starts with there's a letter like 'c' or 'g' before the 'r' sound.
For example, "crier" is a lot easier for me to say than "droite" or "bras".
that's because your tongue is already up and back against the soft palate with g and c (a k- sound)
What i3ssiZm0re said and also what you've recognized is the difference between the voiceless and the voiced uvular frigative (french R). Look it up, that will make things clear.
