Having gone to team meetings for 40 years, there is nothing worse than participating in this type of activity when you are very busy with real work. Co-workers are not friends or family and forcing these types of social interactions is just annoying. But, I do love you and your other videos!

My boss is not my friend, my boss is not my family, my private life is none of his business. If I'm in a meeting and questions like these are asked, I will refuse to answer and ask if there are any business related issues being adressed in this meeting. If there are not I would call this a waste of my precious time and excuse myself from the meeting. Too much time is being wasted on meetings already.

Hi! It sounds like you have clear boundaries between your professional and personal life, which is really important for maintaining work-life balance.

Hi there, hoping you can provide some guidance. Maybe you have a video on this already but I’m looking to promote somebody internally to elite position and needed some interview questions that I can ask them. Do you have any ideas?

I wouldn't feel comfortable giving the truthful answer to most of these questions. At least not in a formal work/group situation. I'd be more inclined to respond with my "second option" or "third option" which means you're getting to know the 'work' me and not the 'real' me. The real me is none of my boss's or colleagues' business. And then I'd feel like our relationship has become socially superficial. The only time I'd answer these questions honestly is in a casual non work related conversation with someone I trust. So asking them at the wrong time/place can defeat their objective.

Thank you for sharing! Keeping some aspects private helps protect your inner self and ensures you feel comfortable in your work environment is totally okay. It's great that you have a clear sense of when and with whom you can be fully open. =)

Seriously? Maybe on the way to the cafeteria. Otherwise talk about the mission, challenges, collaboration, etc. Making the meeting a coffee klatch will de-motivate and repel serious contributors.

I understand your concern about the balance between casual and focused interactions in meetings. I do agree that It's essential to address the mission and challenges, as these are critical for strategic alignment and progress 🙏🏻 . However, incorporating some well-placed team-building questions can enhance collaboration by fostering a sense of community and understanding among team members. 🙌🏼
