I've defended from this base 5 times now, actually goated. The fact that its triple mirrored means even if the raiders get 100% in you have access to go up and down the base completely to keep fighting back.
I love the triangle + 3 squares, so versatile. I build in a drop box bunker into one of the 2 triangles in the first layer of honeycomb. Never been full raided in like 6 months now.
@@JonnySoJuicy honestly now that TC can't hold Sulf it makes it even less worth it for big groups to go after it, unless you've pissed em off of course
I'm new to Rust about 400 hours, I've been using the 2x2 and honeycomb and have never been raided, but I'll be glad to try out this design, great video btw
This base has a huge weakness. You get into the outer layer where you defend raids, and then you just blow into the one wall that has the jump-up from bottom core, and you're in. You need more honeycomb around the core IMO.
I know using the square lootrooms give more space, but I use the triangles, costs more for raiders. They cant splash the doors together. Plus you can use the squares for deployables like furnaces etc.
Oh, yeah... 100% sub after seeing how you managed to fit TC, repair bench, and cooking grill + 8 big boxes and 12 small ones in just 2 freakin squares Im DEFINITELY gonna use that trick🤘
now that's a incredible base, damn! had to watch a few times because the order of things got me a little confused, aside from that, great tutorial, thanks!
I like the build, however. Why do you use wall frames instead of actual walls on the outside of the base. Wouldn't it make it easier to rocket raid? Having one less wall there.
@@knuckle there are no peaks behind them though. I understand using frames for peaks. But the other frames on the main part of the base are just there for aesthetics?
@@thomaskroll9093 if your wanting to wall instead of frame, at 12:40 under the windows is what I would change to walls, and even then you’ll notice he does have ankle biters(single door) peaking out, probably won’t ever if rarely get used but yeah, you can wall that, but everything else I would leave frames, you’ll notice some go all the way up to the roof, if they was walls your LOS would really be limited in defense.

That response you read wasn't the full reason. Build up keep is an increasing multiplier. So while it does protect your base from being griefed having externals. It also saves you a ton of resources. Because the bigger your base the higher the multiplier for the cost of upkeep.
I think that this base looks very defensible, sure, but it's also just a massive target. It screams "we're wealthy, come get us!" A simple 2x2 can easily hold 8 large boxes, 2 furnaces (electric if you want to get fancy with it), a level 1 and 2 workbench, and six small boxes with more than enough space for you to place 2 beds and an extra crafting table. Then you just need a pretty fancy airlock. I like: inward opening sheetmetal door, garage door, outward opening armored door, garage door. Later in the wipe you can upgrade your walls to sheetmetal, and on the last couple of days you can go ham with the armored. Psychology is just as important as difficulty of raid. People often see bases like this as a challenge and as a huge risk for an even better reward. My little 2x2? Looks like the kind of base a new player constantly farming stone would make.
@@cashe7536 I just think it's interesting that people build these massively complex and huge bases, with thousands of frags worth of upkeep, only for their stuff to be raided anyway. A few buddies and I literally built something similar to this base, though a bit different in actual execution, and we were raided literally two nights later. The three honeycombed 2x2s I made a few tiles away? Untouched. In Rust poverty is safety. Looking poor is better protection than most anything else. Though that's just my experience.
I put my loot room in the ceiling of my first floor, about 6 large boxes. and seal it every time i get off. since ive never had a raider gain anything worthwhile off a raid on my house.
It's nice, but it has a lot of shortcomings. There are no gaps where we can see the enemy entering under the house. How will we see what's inside when there is a raid? It would be perfect if an arrangement was made to that part of the roof.
You can just start with the bottom part and expand from there you don't got to build it all at once. Also you can use a stater base until you have the stuff to build something like this main base.
I like this base but I think unfortunately it would not be for me. I will explain tho. Firstly, I think it’s great because it’s fairly cheap for a base this size which is good and I rly like the peeks with the roofs. Unfortunately for a modern Rust base I feel like it lacks a lot of key features, multi-tc, bunkers, internal peeks and open core loot rooms. For example a good comparison would be Miami Rust’s The Palm for trios, it has a similar size, but due to it being a lot more protected and more complicated to build it costs roughly 60-75% more. I would consider that cost justified in terms of top-down protection, the multi tc and open core. So I don’t really see why someone would build this as opposed to that if you know what I mean. One more good thing about this is that it is quite simple to build so I guess this is geared towards newer or less experienced builders? Finally I think it could benefit from side chutes for easy access between floors.
Tbh, start with a 2x3 and build out from there. I like small bases because they attract less attention. Once you've got the resources to scale up, the 2x2 or 2x3 are easy to build on
