This was Seu Jorge's worst cd. He's normally 100x better, and he's an amazing singer with a baritone, raspy voice. Plus his guitar playing is amazing. This performance here is really boring. He needs to be back on.

He used sing about social issues without exaggeration.

Seu Jorge is admittedly one of the greatest voices in Brazilian music. He has sung with all the greatest artists of national and mainly Latin music. The first and suggestive songs, "Cirandeiro" and "Saudosa Bahia" make clear reference to black culture, brought from Africa in our colonization. In addition to black roots, it also refers to religions of African origin (the best known are Candomblé and Umbanda), often eronally called 'santeria' by Native Americans. The third song "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" is composed by jazzman Roy Ayers. English-speaking natives must understand better than we Brazilians. The third song "Pai João" is also a clear reference to African religions. Pai João, better known as "João da Oxum", was a babalorixá (1) from Candomblé. But Seu Jorge is not limited to music related to religions. In his lyrics beyond love, Seu Jorge deals with day-to-day and social criticism. 1- Pai de santo, pai de terreiro, babalorixá, babaloxá or nanny is the priest of Afro-Brazilian religions. For those who are not familiar with the guy: he was raised in a very poor house, but loved music all his life. After joining the army, he had some rough years and lived in the streets for about three or so years. But, thankfully, a well known trumpet player gave him an opportunity and the rest is history. A genuine artist. (edit: grammar)
It's been a few months that I'm kinda addicted to these Tiny desk concerts, and after watching almost all of my favorite artists videos, discovering Seu Jorge participation was just the cherry on top.
Seu Jorge is known all across the seven seas. Even us Swiss people listen to him, thanks to Portuguese immigrates. I think it’s the best tiny desk concert with the one of Anderson Paak
Wooow, that's awesome! I always think if brazilian musicians have the same fame around the world that north-american musicians have here. I'm really glad to read that
Seu Jorge has a little detail in his voice that makes it so particular, a little bit of softness in an otherwise rough voice that adds depth to his songs

Thank you NPR for this!
Love that guy lightly bouncing in the back while pretending to work
For those who are not familiar with the guy: he was raised in a very poor house, but loved music all his life. After joining the army, he had some rough years and lived in the streets for about three or so years. But, thankfully, a well known trumpet player gave him an opportunity and the rest is history. A genuine artist. (edit: grammar)
Forgot to add that he was in the movie city of god
@@lanaralima2676 Y también en "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" donde hace unos covers de Bowie inolvidables.
complete artist. not just a great singer but a great actor too. City of god, steve zissou and now marighella
I had no idea he’s in city of god . Wow
Mane galinha
With that voice everything sounds great no matter what he sings!
Nação Zumbi e Seu Jorge JUNTOS = música popular brasileira de alta qualidade!!!
Novos Baianos!!
total! coisa fina
Cara, sensacional!! Que mistura!!
Correto : Seu Jorge & Almaz ( integrantes da Nação Zumbi)
It's been a few months that I'm kinda addicted to these Tiny desk concerts, and after watching almost all of my favorite artists videos, discovering Seu Jorge participation was just the cherry on top.
Seu Jorge is known all across the seven seas.
Even us Swiss people listen to him, thanks to Portuguese immigrates.
I think it’s the best tiny desk concert with the one of Anderson Paak
you mean Brazilian immigrants?
@@lollabunyxxx No, Switzerland doesn't have a lot of Brazilians but has a lot of Portuguese.
Wooow, that's awesome! I always think if brazilian musicians have the same fame around the world that north-american musicians have here. I'm really glad to read that
true!
I'm from Georgia 🇬🇪 and Seu Jorge is one of my Top Brazilian Singer.... Brazilian Music is simply the best ❤
@@riceartfilms ela canto no colors show

Woooooo Imagina só o Metá Metá no Tiny Desk!
Seu Jorge has a little detail in his voice that makes it so particular, a little bit of softness in an otherwise rough voice that adds depth to his songs
we were talking about him yesterday when his music got played in a club. Funny coincidence . Love this man's voice
I agree, hey, TINY DESK, now you have a new series!!!!
10 anos??? como assim?! simplesmente Nosso Jorge, grandão! ❤

Que perspicácia!!!👏👏👏
Nossa!

The Arts vein of Brazilian greatness is as infiniti as the heavens and Seu Jorge, undoubtedly is of one of those great fruits and one of so many in the land...Poet Vilmar Alves Ribeiro.

More Brazilian music, please, there´s a world of amazing music in this country
This dude in the background sitting at his desk like it's a normal Tuesday morning. I can't imagine the over-satiation of amazing music these poor employees must be facing
Magnifico! Kanimambo de Maputo/Moçambique.
I love to see the guy in the back trying to do some work at his desk... he can't avoid shaking with the awesome rythm!

Here's one of the best brazilian singers.
A powerful and unique voice, songs with interesting meanings and a perfect band that reminds me another famous band here in Brazil, called VITÓRIA RÉGIA from our great TIM MAIA.

For people that don’t know the story of Seu Jorge he is a Brazillian musician that experience extreme poverty and at one point was homeless in Brazil. He use to sing a bar just to eat pizza at the end . He is simply multi talented and simply amazing music and lyrics . He is iconic figure in Brazil .
It’s important to say that he’s also an amazing actor! He’s so talented!
