- Yuzo Koshiro has released new footage of Earthion, and it exceeds expectations once again. This game just keeps getting better and better! The latest clip showcases some massive, previously unseen sprites, along with fresh music, stages, and the debut of the Yuzo Koshiro Golden Game Generation (YKGGG) logo sound that will play when the game boots up. "Here's a sneak peek of Earthion Stage 2 (Stage 1 is still in development and shown in the video)," Koshiro shared on social media. "Everything in this stage is authentic and runs on a Mega Drive, except for the background music, which is played on an MD emulator. The music uses genuine FM synthesis (YM2612)," he added. "Despite having a less advanced system compared to Etrian [Odyssey], which also uses FM emulations, the quality is just as good, if not better, thanks to superior arrangement and programming. And it's not even streaming." 2:28 min of pure Megadrive goodness, enjoy!!!

The music is very reminiscent of old Konami arcade games like Gradius II and Super Contra.
This is what i miss big time from video gaming, icons from history returning to old systems out of passion!

Day One! It's unbelievable that Genesis/MD, a console first released in 19-freaking-88, is still getting new (and good!) games in 2024!! The love for this machine has long transcended its very successful market run.

All sega had to do was make the svp chip a lock on cart that expands the capabilities of the Genesis in sound and ram 3d polygons and color capabilities on screen..
The svp chip cart could have been used to make every Genesis game. After this release absolutely better in quality.
When the Saturn was launched,
Give indie devs a platform to release games and take a percentage.!
They should have been selling from sega website store .
And just two admins to test games for quality and approve or send suggestions and dev tips

Or can have sega fix issues for a bigger cut of the percentage
The Genesis would have never died .
New games for 24.99 would have been coming out tothis day .

@@48hourrecordsteam45firstly, cartridge games were never that cheap (they were usually double that, even back in the 90s, and some cartridges were over $100.00. That's why microcomputers with games on cassette tape dominated gaming outside of the US and Japan up until the PlayStation), secondly, by describing an add on that sits between the console and cartridge to allow for more advanced games by introducing additional processing power you've basically just come up with the 32x, but with less features and the same issue of splitting the user base.
I would also point out that the indie game haven of the CD era was the 3DO, which is a console I love in many respects for its unique library but there's a reason why loads of 3DO games pivoted to PS1 during development, giving the latter a wide variety of risky and unique titles that were only ever given a chance because the licensing for 3DO was so absurdly cheap and they thought that they wouldn't need to sell as many copies to make back their investment.
I’m in awe at the graphics and animation in this game. That intro animation of the ship taking off was so fucking awesome! So cool seeing Koshiro back doing Genesis stuff.
I think thats been done with a 3D render and then rasterized, looks way too smooth and perfect to be hand drawn.
Still impressive regardless.
Take my money now! I want this immediately!

On a high quality CRT TV (like a Sony Trinitron or Toshiba Color Stream TVs with a digital comb filter inside) with Component AV or clean S-Video, this game will look crisp and stunning! I can't wait to play this.
Please put "cheats" in the game for extra continues and more, like a "Debug" options menu!

How is this transparency of the ship that enters the screen possible on a Mega Drive? we all know that it can not display transparent objects, not even the Saturn can!

The music in general is very reminiscent of 1988-1989 Konami arcade games
I noticed very late that the ship's speed will be adjusted through power up. Personally, I would prefer this to be adjustable from the ship itself (something native), like Thunder Force or Gleylancer.

For those who are wondering how large custom cabinet arcades will make a comeback, it'll take a new breed of arcade games worthy of going to the arcades to play! Game development like this is how you get there! Awesome so far!

yuzo is a master of the hardware. he already prove himself back in the day. but he's doing stuff indy sega genesis developers only can dream off.
