I started using SketchUp about 18 years ago. I'm still learning useful stuff about it and these videos have been helpful, thanks. I really should switch to another 3D app now SketchUp is so expensive on desktop, but with so many years invested I'm reluctant. I wish SketchUp hadn't abandoned hobbyists. (Don't get me started on the in-browser version).

Yes very clever thanks and probably the quickest way to do it. In the metal shop one would scribe a 12 inch offset all around and then use a compass/divider to complete the 12 inch radius arcs.

Good tips on using the radius tool and getting an exact radius. I thought this video would also include how to radius an edge. Such as if I want to break a sharp edge with a 1/8" radius all around on both the top and bottom edges of a plate.

Very cool tri ck. The way I've done this in the past is only a little more work, but doesn't require messing with entity info:
    1. Select all the edges where rounded corners are needed, select the offset tool and create an offset 1 foot inside the shape. (Or just select the entire shape if you want rounded corners to replace most or all corners.)
    2. Select the Arc tool (the one that draws from the center and 2 points), and click the center of the arc on a corner of the offset lines. Position the first point of the arc on one of the edges, adjusting until you get a perpendicular inference (radius turns magenta) and click. Position the second point on the adjacent edge, also making sure the radius is perpendicular.
    3. Erase the offset lines.

I had always just offset a construction line from both lines to establish the center point. If it's a 90 degree corner your done, otherwise, you need to do parallel construction lines from said center point.Your method is way easier.

Always come to you for answers and you don't disappoint but, this works great on large radii but I'm having trouble with small radii. Trying to draw a small part that has 0.015" radius and keep getting the error message, "radius to small or number of segments too large". Tried scaling up by 100, drawing and then scaling down by 0.01 but it doesn't come out the right size.

Its not that im better, i posted the question on the forums a few months back haha. One of the sages showed me.This is the method i use very often:) i use sketchup pro for very precise engineering parts for my areospace engineering degree. Yes, i can do the math for those acute or obtuse angles to get the one foot radi, but doing it the way you show is best. In fact, one of my classes, we had to make a part that had a mas of 7.638 grams and we can only be off by 0.01 grams. So having the radius off juat a little bit, changes the volume of the part, which in turn changes how much mass there is. I actually made an entire sketchup for engineers series for my fellow students and professors:)

A quick question: Early in the video you use the 2 Point Arc to mark the top left corner of the drawing and drag it until the curve is tangent. Then in the next frame the old square corner disappears and and a new rounded corner is there. I can't seem to make that happen. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!
