Very helpful tip as always. I'm hoping to use Sketchup to redesign my Airstream. I'm doing a complete rebuild and I'm hoping I can do the master plan in Sketchup. LOTS of curves! Including the learning variety. :-D

I downloaded Sketchup yesterday and I just needed this today earlier, I didn't know how to make curves like this so I just went with rectangles LOL

I use Make 2017. When I do what you show, the selection runs the full length of the adjacent pipe. So, I just make the elbow by itself & move it in place.

Thanks for sharing. Yes I have encountered that elbow problem and used your solution, thanks for nipping the problem in the bud.
But I sometimes have to create a network of pipes and I find it easier to draw ALL the lines before creating the pipes. If flanges and elbows are not required then simply selecting all the contiguous lines and activating "pipeline" created everything instantly.
However, if flanges are required, then an adaption of your method would be to break the straight lines at either ends of the arcs. Then make pipes out of the remaining long straight lines, and then select the arc and the short straight pieces to make the elbows at the larger diameter, using "pipeline".
A NOTE OF CAUTION here. For some reason only known to the CAD developers, very tight arcs are sometimes incomplete after using the follow-me or "pipeline" tools. The solution is to scale up the bend (say 10*) make the pipe, and then scale down (say 0.1) to fit. This implies that there is a "number overflow or underflow" problem/bug which the developers have not fixed.

That doesn't work. That would mean you'd also have to scale up the circle ten times. You're only approaching the same exact problem on a larger scale. Even if you were to use the original circle size with an arc that's scaled ten times, when you go to scale it back down, the circumference of the pipe shrinks and sometimes even warps.
