How This Minimalist Home Is About What You Can Take Away

- The existing 1990s townhouse in South Yarra was quite dark, with an unsuitable layout for today's living. For this home renovation, Winter Architecture approached it by looking at what they can take away and have a more minimalist space that felt clean, white and bright.

So, minimalism is a style that's not for everyone. You don't have to love it to appreciate it. For some it might feel cold; to others, it feels tranquil. To me, this feels calm serene, and I do like the new garden. It's simple and easy on the eyes. There really is no visual clutter. What some see as sterile, I see as calm. I can easily see myself being at home there.
you will not see this in her everyday life. Most probably, you will see cups, document, letters, bills, kettle, her keys, ipad,.iphone ,lying around. This is a video shoot mind u.
@@alantan3004 many people live like this tho. minimalist people dont even want to get mails and tend to turn everything to digital. it is a real lifestyle. and as they said above, it is not for everyone.
I'm sorry about the old garden! It was a beautiful oasis! :(
This house looks so comfortable because it is not telling you what it is, it's waiting for you to add its value and meaning with your personality and memories.
I love this home however I wish they kept the existing garden to give it a main focal point
Same thoughts. My heart bled for the balinese garden, RIP. Some designers dont get it.
It’s expensive to make such a garden and time. A shame in my opinion
Old gardens and tress can be really messy. Specially during the winter time. The client wanted it clean.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Braden Kohen Instablaster :)
This house is so pretty. It looks so clean and simple. Love the minimal style.
me too, I absolutely love this home!
I agree. So peaceful and calming.
I on the contrary I love the void feeling. It's lovely and has less distractions. Lab feel is amazing and clean. If I want earthy I'd go to the garden
Totally agree, and the lack of clutter makes cleaning so much easier!!
I agree. This home is so calming and peaceful.
Especially for smaller homes, once it's lived in, it gets cluttered and messy so easily! This keeps the mess hidden and makes the space feel bright and huge. It won't look this clerical when lived in anyways.
Just imagine this house with kids with lotsa crayons😆
Those kids gotta really paint this house down, only then this will be a home and eventually a space of taste and life. Right now it's so bland and void
That’s indeed a great idea... the new Art Deco
The kids only have white crayons...
😂
😂😂😂😂
Epitome of tranquility. I love the contrast of white inside and green outside.
The thing that would give this elegant white box some personality would be a large bookshelf wall instead of the vertical cupboards in the living room, an armchair and a lamp or two.
Ew. Personality
The house looked so stress free and calming.
The two photos of the old house looked much more attractive than the entire video.
why do I get the feeling of cold, err, unwelcoming, it feels so lonely. Yes, it's probably can generate more lights and space but it feels somehow cold, lonely
projecting
Are you trying to say it looks like a mortuary? 🤔
Cause you like the emotions color evokes in you or a different design style?
The old one is a space to live, the new one is a hospital for strangers, quite fitting for that new feeling.
Hahaha that was my comment too its not a house its look pike a hospital
There's minimalist, and then there's void.
Totally agree.
The idea is "spectrum." And for some people, that's the ideal aesthetic - nothingness. It has a spiritual quality to my eye, even though it's not my prefered look.
@@gaslitworldf.melissab2897 thanks for pointing out that to others, Is easy to forget is
😂 so true so we'll stated.
My thoughts exactly.
I like when the sliding door opened.
As if suddenly the room becomes extended to the garden. As if the garden is in the room, integrated.
I am all for stripping back aesthetics but this space is so void of any warmth or texture it is too much. Also it is such a shame they removed the old garden, it was stunning ..
Totally agree.
Yes I agree.
Agree. The garden was so beautiful before
I don't agree as the point is to feel rested. When you add all the extra furniture and clutter it feels dark and weighty. Contrasting now we have a weightless appeal. It rest the mind. Also the garden was terrible. It felt like it was trying to fit a whole country in a little space. Having lived in southeast asia and hawaii, the garden felt like looking at a bad imitation of something.
i dont want a minimalist house in my future, but you can get SO MUCH inspiration from it. The calmness that it conveys is just what we need.
The amount of people complaining here. That goes only to show that all of us have our own preferences. Now, for me, I felt like I'm the client here, I prefer everything they did to the interior/exterior.
Same
Same!
I don’t care what anyone says I absolutely LOVE! This design a lot of people are saying it would have negative psychological effects and I truly believe that maybe some people would but also some people wouldn’t, we are all different! And that’s what’s great lol because I get so anxious and depressed if their is so much clutter, noise and dirtiness and this home is so soothing to me !
I'd presonally very much prefer the previous version of this house. Also, the original garden was stunning!
Don't understand why some are complaining that its a void/empty.. It is so clean and pleasing to me. Amazing interior design!
Because we're not psychopaths 😂😅
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The designer is so elegant~
I love the old house, this one feels like a showroom.
Sameeee
like hospital hahahha
Same !
I wouldve kept everything especially the garden!
I'm not a fan of the vertical white cupboards in the living area, but the rest is beautiful. Personally I would curtail the white by inviting some of the greenery indoors rather than the strict partition of "indoor = white" vs "outdoor = green". But that's just me. Great work guys.
yes the cupboards were exhausting! Its a paradox. Minimalist, but you are bombarded by too many cabinets which makes it seem like you have so much dirt to sweep under a rug. The color sells though in its EXTreme minimalist style. But its hard to relate when you cant really see the house.
I very much prefer the old garden. Right now everything looks like a lab environment.
The re-designed house with OLD garden would be a masterpiece.
Agree.
I feel sad for the plants they had uprooted
Totally agree. The old garden was beautiful and this new one is boring.
exactly
3:17 Shower room did not match the house design to make it brighter but all in all, design is very clean and beautiful.
Absolutely love it exactly how id want it. Peaceful and simple the garden glass window moving in so dreamy
Omg I love the simplicity look of this house.
So do we!
Me too! Very relaxing.
This is so peaceful. It makes me sigh.
This is absolutely stunning. How calming and peaceful. I love it 😍
I love minimalism, but i still want my home to feel like a home. I keep it simple, not much stuff, but i make sure my furniture are warm and earthy. Oak floor, whites, and wood 😍
The minimalist design is perfectly accomplished. No distractions, just the garden is the center of attention.
I just watched several episodes of Hoarders, and I need this. This is nice. This is normal. What a trip.
😂haha, I feel good when I watch hoarders, but it doesn't help....when I see this, I get going and take action. Even though it is too much for me in the video, it is still helpful❤
i like the old design so much more. it felt like a house. so comfy.
I love everything about this home! Just perfect, serene and calm!!! A safe haven and escape! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. That backyard is so beautiful, zen calm and clutter free!
This is my dream home but I would have major anxiety when kids or guests come over.
A very nice home with a minimalist taste. Although the designer is very stylish, I would love to see more shots about the layout and designs of the home itself since this is a rather short video. Half of the time was devoted to the designer talking and talking and not showing what it was.
😂
agree with you on this one, i was looking and looking to see the space but nah..
What a perfect home, I absolutely love it.
Wow! Full white rooms and full glass doors. I can imagine how large the space will be..
Minimalistic design is when you can't take away anything and this truly is. Saw a lot of people criticizing this but tbh, I liked it. A few plants here and der would bring life to this.
I love the contrast between the dark exterior and the clean and bright interior.
Once this house has the average amount of possessions, it will feel homely and lived-in. I have no problem with the minimalist palette. I love the new garden too.
That said, I have a wardrobe of 12 black T-shirts.
Impressive! Very clean and serene, yet the bedrooms are warm and cozy. Tons of storage space, tons of nature, love it! Well thought out and practical! I would happily move in!
I get the minimalist, but the old garden was really beautiful!
Yep so fully
Cold and empty. Void of texture color and warmth. Beautiful !
This house is beautiful! Amazing work🙌🏼
incredible. Love the designer and the aesthetic. Simply excellent. Thank you for the visual delight.
Absolutely beautiful,peaceful and functional
Im super picky when it comes to design and I watch a lot of design RUclips channels BUT this bathroom at 4:03 I am giving 5 stars! WELL DONE! And I hardly ever say this.
Fantastic work! Love it.
I like this style of living too and keep everything clean always
Well done!! This is exactly what I would love our house to look like. Clean, simple, modern and reminds me of the Glenstone Museum in Maryland.
Same thought
My nephew and niece would love this canvass. You came home after work, boom New York gallery..
This video is so tranquil x
wonderfully simple, clean, modern and minimal. love it !
Love it! So clean and lumineuse !
This is exactly what I want, and what I am planning to build!!! beautiful!!!!!
Absolutely love this.
Immediate Connection of nature is amazing. Beautiful work.
Stupendamente essenziale, aggiungerei libri , qualche oggetto e anche qualche pianta !!!
Beautiful minimalistic appearance....and what a great and warm color in the shower!! Love it!
I love minimalism with color and warmness
Very peaceful home
this house is so white and clean very organize.
Why is she roaming around the house like a ghost 👻
watch the movie RING then you know why
People have objection in everything they see, Awful
Wow! Loved it
so beautiful design
i love this minimalistic concept! I'd have loved a home tour playing along the description. I feel like I don't see what is connected to what in this house.
Really the best minimalist house I have seen
I love it, it's so smooth and intentional! A lot of people here seem to have hospital trauma...
Really lovely and relaxing space. I love it.
Beautiful
Love this!
I love the void in the middle of the plan. I put those in a lot of my residential designs.
I like the overall concept but I would add perhaps one or two paintings or maybe a small colourful rug somewhere to add a bit of colour in this whole design. But job well done !
Very John Pawsonesque. Love it.
Gorgeous space. This is exactly how i would want my interior
This place has a pure energy. Love white😍
Am so fascinated by your designs and concepts..keep going. Simple ,ideal, efficient living.true concept ♥️
Such a peaceful place
love it !!!!! Minimalist home is the best for those who are in the creative industry because you really need a space that let your brain rest in order to be more creative and motivated ...just comes from my experience
J'aime beaucoup cette atmosphère très épurée !
Cara Rodrigues looks absolutely gorgeous!
Very calming
Beautiful & Clean.
So much to love about this home.
It looks so calm and peaceful 😊
Simplicity is beauty.💕
Beautiful home
I like everything designed here!
Imagine the robber breaking into this house... 😅
others have been here before me
He'd be like " nothing to see here... I'm out"
@@user-zz5wr6nt1g you made me wake up a baby. 😅😂
@@kaiserchief9319 I hope it went quickly back to sleep lol
Reminds me of a hospital. The old place exudes warmth and charm
here i am just opening closets and looking inside with a blank stare. sometimes i like to sort and align my all white wardrobe to relax. just some normal next door neighbors, we're just like you
I would have liked to see a layout diagram of the project. greetings from Bogota- Col

@@SimpleDwelling Hi, I went to epidemic sounds to look for this enchanting soundtrack, what's the name of it? Epidemic sounds website has so much material, it's hard to find this specific one.
I fall in love with this house
This calmed my soul
I love the mausoleum atmosphere. The children will be so happy here.
Super gorgeous! Love all the natural lighting and large windows, this is right up my alley. I’d only make it one story cause I fear stairs LOL
Fresh. Finally.
This house is just a dream! Well done
Wow Love It 😱🙊 really pretty and clean, so open and cozy ❣️
